Ecuadorians voted against drilling for oil in a protected area of the Amazon, an important decision that will require the state oil company to end its operations in a region that’s home to two uncontacted tribes and is a hotspot of biodiversity.

Yasuni National Park is inhabited by the Tagaeri and Taromenani, who live in self-isolation. In 1989, it was designated a world biosphere reserve by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, also known as UNESCO. Encompassing a surface area of over 1 million hectares (2.5 million acres), it boasts 610 species of birds, 139 species of amphibians, and 121 species of reptiles. At least three species are endemic.

With over 90% of the ballots counted by early Monday, around 6 in 10 Ecuadorians rejected the oil exploration in Block 43, situated within Yasuni.

The outcome represents a significant blow to Ecuadorian President Guillermo Lasso, who advocated for oil drilling, asserting that its revenues are crucial to the country’s economy. State oil company Petroecuador will be required to dismantle its operations in the coming months.

The referendum took place alongside the presidential election, which will be decided in a runoff between leftist candidate Luisa González and right-wing contender Daniel Noboa. The country is experiencing political turmoil following the assassination of one of the candidates, Fernando Villavicencio.

IMPLEMENTACIÓN ERP

Para realizar la implementación de una ERP en la organización que se dedica a la realización de eventos a empresas de tecnologia, se debe tener en cuenta varios aspectos:

Se debe hacer una aevaluación de necesidades, donde se evidencie las areas que se quieren cubrir entre esas gestión de clientes, gestión de eventos, recursos humanos y contabilidad.

Investigar las soluciones de las ERP: Para esto se debe hacer una investigación de las ERP que estan en el mercado y seleccionar la que mejor se ajuste a las necesidades de la organización. entre esas esta SAP, Oracle, Eventpro, eventbrite entre otras.

Persoalización: Una vez se halla escogido la ERP que mejor se asocie a las necesidades de la empresa de eventos, esto puede requeriri la personalización de algunos modulos que se adapte al flujo de trabajo.

Implemenatación: Para esta etapa de la implemntación de la ERP se requiere migrar datos desde sistemas anteriores, en donde la capacitación del personal es escencial, para el uso del nuevo sistema, brindando herramientas de trabajo.

Pruebas: se realiza lo que conocemos como una prueba acida, en donde se evalua que el sistea funcione bien en caso de tener fallas se debe realizar las correciones pertinentes antes de hacer un lanzamiento oficial.

Lanzamiento: Una vez se halla determinado que el sistema funciona correctamente se realiza el lanzamiento oficial y de esta misma manera se estara apoyando el personal para abordar cualqueier problema que pueda surgir.

Mantenimiento: Se debe realizar mantenimiento regular al sistema, aplicar actualizaciones y realizar ajusres segun sea necesario.

Conclusiones

En conclusión la implementación de una ERP para una empresa que se encarga de realizar eventos a anivel nacional e internacional, requiere una planificación cuidadosa, un enfoque en la seguridad de la información y una capacitación adecuada del personal. Con la estrategia correcta, una ERP puede ayudar a la empresa a optimizar sus operaciones y a alcanzar sus objetivos comerciales de manera más efectiva.

QUITO: Ecuador has taken over operation of two oil blocks in the Amazon rainforest that since 1999 had been operated by Spain’s Repsol under a contract now expired, state company Petroecuador said Sunday. Petroecuador said in a statement it “assumes operation” of blocks 16 and 67 after Repsol’s contracts for exploration and exploitation ended on December 31. The blocks are in the Amazonian province of Orellana in Ecuador’s east and produce 13,533 barrels of oil per day. They are located in the Yasuni National Park, home to a nature reserve and Indigenous communities. Crude oil is a major revenue source in Ecuador, whose total production was 479,000 barrels per day from January to November 2022, 78 percent of it by Petroecuador. The country exported 312,400 barrels per day during that period, generating nearly $8.4 billion, according to the Central Bank. In 2020 the Ecuadoran government thwarted a deal for Repsol to sell its rights to the two blocks to the Canadian firm New Stratus Energy, meaning the blocks would revert to the state once the contracts ended. An oil spill in eastern Ecuador in February last year, had reached a nature reserve and polluted a river that supplies water to indigenous communities. Nearly two hectares (five acres) of a protected area of the Cayambe-Coca national park had been contaminated, as well as the Coca River — one of the biggest in the Ecuadoran Amazon. In May 2020 in the same area, a mudslide damaged pipelines, resulting in 15,000 barrels of oil polluting three Amazon basin rivers, affecting several riverside communities.

Oil Updates — Crude edges down; US emergency crude reserves fall

Oil prices dipped on Tuesday, paring some gains from the previous session, as the market feared that more aggressive interest rate hikes from central banks may lead to a global economic slowdown and soften fuel demand.

Brent crude futures for October settlement dropped 3.56 percent to $101.35 a barrel at 03.00 p.m Saudi time.

US West Texas Intermediate crude was at $94.23 a barrel, down 2.87 percent.

Crude in US emergency reserve falls to lowest since December 1984

Crude inventory in the US emergency reserves fell by 3.1 million barrels in the week to Aug. 26, according to data from the Department of Energy.

Stockpiles in the Strategic Petroleum Reserve fell to 450 million barrels, according to the data, the lowest since December 1984.

The 3.1 million-barrel draw was the smallest draw since the end of April.

Ecuador’s state oil firm warns Trafigura to stop Russian diesel imports

Ecuadoran state oil company Petroecuador has asked global commodities trader Trafigura to stop importing Russian diesel in an effort to comply with sanctions targeting Russia’s energy exports, Petroecuador said in a statement late on Sunday.

Petroecuador’s public warning to Trafigura follows EU and US sanctions imposed on Russian energy supplies after Moscow invaded Ukraine in February. Russia calls its actions in Ukraine “a special military operation.”

Petroecuador seeks to stop Russian imports in order to prevent repercussions, including sanctions on Ecuador as well as the country’s own officials. The Andean country depends on foreign diesel supplies primarily for motor fuel and electricity.

According to a diesel sales contract awarded in June to Geneva-based Trafigura, the trader was warned to avoid Russian supplies as it delivered 1.68 million barrels of diesel to Petroecuador in six shipments between July and September.

In its statement, Petroecuador noted it had already found one shipment contained mostly Russian products.

Trafigura was set to deliver a fourth diesel shipment of around 275,000 barrels on Saturday, 95 percent of which was of Russian origin with the remaining 5 percent from Panama, according to the Petroecuador statement. It is unclear what the status of the shipment is.
