Lovely electro & vocal in this collaboration for the new Dark Paradise Records 派樂黛唱片 compilation, Binary Opposition.  =D

The piece is called 來去 loi11 hi55.  I haven’t seen a breakdown of the credits, but I’m guessing the music/arrangement is by Ruby Fatale 鹿比 ∞ 吠陀

黃少谷〈未來〉MV邀陳子鴻軋一角 睽違20多年跨刀演出情義相挺 十幾層高樓廢墟拍攝 黃少谷懼高症發作強風陣陣自嘲變風箏

黃少谷以本名重新出發，將綽號改為「少少」，10月發行個人首張創作專輯《未來》，告別2017，黃少谷在新年發佈一首新歌，也是專輯的同名歌曲〈未來〉，希望在新的一年每個人都能找到未來的目標、不再感到迷茫，已在喜歡音樂官方Youtube頻道上線！〈未來〉貫穿了整張專輯的概念─「現在的我會造就未來的我。」這首歌更榮幸邀請到金音獎最佳電音專輯獎得主「Ruby Fatale 鹿比 ∞ 吠陀」一同參與編曲。

〈未來〉MV中邀請到老闆陳子鴻跨刀演出一個小鏡頭，在MV中陳子鴻老師帥氣現身，手上拿著十字架親手交給倒臥在廢棄物之中的黃少谷，象徵他在音樂這條路上，子鴻老師是救贖他的救世主。兩人在影片中更有定睛對看數秒的戲，拍攝完畢子鴻老師歹勢承認他剛剛差點笑場，黃少谷則說因為看到老師就像看到自己的爸爸一樣，十分親切！另外，子鴻老師被問到是否第一次演出歌手的MV？老師偷笑回應：「其實不是欸！20多年前有幫別人拍過…

Some excellent guitar rock from Tainan band 鐵擊 TIE GI  =D

They used to be called 鐵擊 IRON PUNCH BAND, and some of their social media still goes by that name.   This song is on their 2022 album, The Mirror And Me, which came out in October.

5 members, here are their nicknames: 大鈞-Male Voc, 阿昌-Gtr, 瓜瓜-Gtr, 小哈-Bass, 小飛-Drums.

Let’s check out the band 鐵擊 IRON PUNCH aka *铁击乐队TIEGI   =D

You’ll have to go to StreetVoice to hear the song, it’s not at YT yet.  Highly recommended tune, so check it out!  

*That’s their name on weibo, but I also see the TIE GI logo on some of their other sites.  In Google translate the result is the same: 鐵擊 tiě jī  /  铁击 tiě jī, so maybe the difference is traditional vs. simplified characters...?  Is there a reason why a band would write it one way for Taiwan and another way for mainland China?

They formed in 2013, released their first album in 2016, and an ep in 2017. They don’t list their names on social media, but the lyrics are attributed to 大鈞, so I’m gonna assume he’s the lead singer (male voc).    Question marks for the rest of the band, lol: ??-Gtr/Female Voc,  ??-Gtr,  ??-Bass,  ??-Drums

Soft electro band 莉莉周她說 Lily Chou-Chou Lied   We linked to the StreetVoice demo a few months ago but it’s been posted to YT, so if you missed it before, don’t miss it now!  =D

大慶 Ral Chen-Vocal/Bass/Program, 楊先妤 Vio (Viona Yang)-Vocal/Percussion/Synth and 又銓 Sean Yu Chuan Chen-Drums/Perc. 

(Sean is also in Yellowback 野樂派 and Ral is also in 眠腦 Sleeping Brain)

And earlier today, they posted a new demo w/lyrics to StreetVoice.  I adore their unison male/female vocals and on this tune, the synths are more percussive than usual, kind of a steel drum sound.

any recommendations for indie pop or indie electronica (think: manila killa, san holo, lido, etc.)? i’ve been having so much trouble finding chinese electronica that i like

Hi there!   I’m sorry to say I don’t know those bands you mentioned, but I’m happy to give some electro recs anyway!  =D

莉莉周她說 Lily Chou-Chou Lied  soft electro w/ m/f vocal. Very soothing sound.

Pasha  Hong Kong electronic dreampop. Nookie Ho-music programmer, Shadow Choy-vocal.  They tend to take long hiatus between albums, but definitely check them out.

To tell you the truth, it seems almost every TW act has added some electronic elements to their sound, especially the folkies that both lead bands and do solo shows. Lots of live looping and sample tracks.  

Another place to check out is Dark Paradise Records (run by producer 黃少雍 Shao-Yong Huang from matelin) they have 6 or 7 electronic compilations, and you’ll surely find some things you like there! (fb: 派樂黛唱片 & SoundCloud)

Last month I posted a collaboration song from Ruby Fatale 鹿比 ∞ 吠陀 & 詹森淮 Riva Jan, and this week, Ruby posted most (all?) of their April 27th set at Witch House.  =D

The song above and at least 2 others were written by Senhuai (Riva Jan) and performed with new electro arrangements by Ruby. They also did a cover of a song by British new wave band Echo & the Bunnymen, called The Killing Moon, with Ruby singing:

promo & release news!

霧虹 Fogbow album and tour about to happen. Lots of details at fb, and you can hear 3 new songs at their StreetVoice. Listening to 播放 atm, they sound GREAT!  Song written by guitarist 有點燃 Fish Chang, and vocals by new singer 秋口 Choco (秋口 勒!)  =D

Vast & Hazy rehearse a full band for 黑市音樂 Black Market Music Production showcases 2017 Feb. 10th at Legacy & Feb. 11th at Hidden Agenda in HK; February 26th in Guangzhou with 椰子!! Coconuts; and the last show of their tour at Legacy on March 10th.   Take a look at the Black Market links to see all the other bands it’s an excellent lineup!   =D

Remember the other day when I told you about Elephant Gym 大象體操 planning to cover a Cheer Chen ‘country’ song?  You can watch a partial rehearsal clip at Kaiting 張凱婷’s fb.  The Mercury 水星酒館 in Kaohsiung tomorrow night (Sat.)

Pilots In The Sky And On The Sea 旅人 posted a very brief clip with the message: “今天我們也跟著大家開工了，新年快樂.” (Today, we have also started work, and happy new year.)  Go check it out, I really want them to feel encouraged!  And then go to either iNDIEVOX or Bandcamp and listen to their epic 2014 ep. So much beauty for a measly $3 bucks!  =D

P!SCO season 7 launch show is at Legacy on March 4th, and as usual for their big events, they have bus/tix/merch packages available for P!SCOers. And regular tix on sale at iNDIEVOX.
