WIP Wednesday! Let's do it!

This one's living up here, rent free in a triplex, along with Chant from Hadestown.

Ng+ spoilers.

It's just a sketch for a first chapter, but let's go!

Btw, it's about a Starborn that did everything to go back.

Lover everything I do, I do it for the love of you.

I've been travelling for… so long I lost count. Searching, looking, everywhere.

My hands are bloody. My emotions are all but gone. I don't even bother anymore. Not with trying to meet the new versions, with seeing them die.

I tried, I think. Once, long ago, when all of this started. I wanted to move on, to continue with my life, fix the mistakes I couldn't fix before.

But this is the last jump I'll ever take. I'll resign. Find an empty planet and live there the rest of my days. Or end it all before that. I just know that I can't stay in this universe a moment longer.

I close my eyes, remembering him. The reason I jumped in the first place. He told me to. He said, promised, that we'd find eachother again. That he'd love me in every universe.

I laugh at that last one. There's still a scar on my stomach from one of the meetings we had. One that Sam never had Cora. That he still loved Lillian.

I'm broken now. My only guiding light is, was, to find him randomly across the universes. The Unity said he would eventually jump in, he'd come looking for me.

It's been millennia, and I'm no longer sure.

So, one more jump. One last try.

The lights are blinding, and the sights were once mesmerising. They lost their beauty for me so long ago.

I make my way back to New Atlantis. One last time.

There's something hauntingly familiar as I walk through the spaceport to the Lodge. Something that tells me I've been here before. I've been to this version.

I step into the Lodge, waiting to meet Sarah, have her asking me about the artifacts. I prepare myself for Walter snark comments and Matteo's awe.

But that's not what I see.

The first thing I see is a familiar cowboy hat. Sam.

I hold back from jumping at him, no matter how much I want to and it breaks what's left of my heart that I can't. It didn't end up well before.

I watch, patiently, as he turns to face me, removing his hat.

Sam looks older. There are strands of silver on his hair and beard, and wrinkles forming around his eyes. But it's still him.

He's smiling. Arms open and inviting.

I cross my arms, fighting even more the urge to go to him. It's not my Sam. Not the one of my original universe. That I fell in love with. It's another version. Right?

I can't be back. After all this time, to be sent back feels like the Unity is rubbing it off on my face.

“Haven't seen you in a while, love.” Sam says, stepping closer to me. “You're still as beautiful as the day I lost you.”

He touches my face, and I allow him. It's been so long since I felt any kind of warmth, that this feels like it's scorching my skin and I want more.

“Please, don't tease me like this.” I say, remembering the universes I've told him.

“I'm not.” He says, placing a hand on his holster, taking out the pistol there. “This is for you. Saved my ass more than I could count. Time to give it back.”

It's my pistol. I couldn't bring myself to use one like it since the first time I went through. Couldn't keep them.

“It's yours now.” I push his hand back, so he can put it away. “I can't take it away from you.”

His smile dies. It's almost like he sees that I'm not the person who walked through Unity.

“Why would I need it? It was a reminder of you.” He asks, stepping back. “I finally got you back. And I'm not letting you go again.”

Again.

If there was ever any doubt that I'm back, it fades away. I'm home.

I can't resist anymore. Falling into his arms, I allow myself to feel again. I cry, holding on to him.

“How long?” I gather the courage to ask, unsure if I want too know.

“A little over ten years.” There's sorrow as he answers me, running a hand on my back.

I missed so much. Cora is all grown up now. Probably off to college.

And I can rest. Hoping that is not just another bad joke from the Unity. They did it so much by now, with universes where he was already dead, or happy in a different life. Those were the worst for me.

Not really thinking, I kiss him. It's a heavy kiss, where we both show how we missed eachother.

I can't believe we're finally back together. After all this time.

“So,” I lean back, looking into his lovely blue eyes, “what did I miss?”

First test marine for my Dark Angels Successor Chapter, the Eschaton Lords!

I mostly just slapped some paint on to see how I liked the color scheme in person, and I think it'll make for a nice-looking army!

The Eschaton Lords are a Dark Angels Successor Chapter created during the Second Founding. They are led by Marduk Sedras, a veteran of the Dreadwing and one of the oldest living space marines at the time. In the current era indomitus, he is still one of the oldest living marines, though he now resides within the hull of a leviathan-pattern dreadnought. He still carries his sword, 'the Death of Worlds', having added the fragments of so many broken planets to its blade that it is now large and heavy enough that only a dreadnought could wield it effectively.

The chapter's most well-known marking is the "Hand of Death", which is represented by an astartes' left arm being colored entirely white, representing the annihilation of all life on a planet. A marine earns this honored mark the first time they participate in an exterminatus action.

The Eschaton Lords are known for their devotion to the complete annihilation of their foe in each battle. They swear to let none escape or surrender, and have even chased survivors through the immaterium itself to secure their kill. In service of this goal, they primarily rely on some of the most sinister weapons of the 1st legions vaults, preserved for millennia in the halls of their fortress monastery on Triplex Galatia. Dedicated to finality as they are, they have a penchant for carrying out exterminatus actions, even sometimes unauthorized, or on worlds that may still be saved. This betrayal of the Imperium's people and destruction of its resources is one of the chapter's most closely guarded secrets, kept even from the rest of the Inner Circle.

The chapter's obsession with the destruction of planets and complete annihilation of their foe come primarily from the mind of Grand Master Sedras. Some astartes within the chapter's leadership believe him to have gone mad after so many years alive, and even moreso since entering his mobile tomb. None have yet seen into that ancient mind to confirm these suspicions, and so he leads them ever onward towards the destruction of the foe.

OMG YES OF COURSE thanks for giving me the opportunity to gush

Also well this is obvious but this does contain spoilers for BAPC even in an AU context so if you haven’t seen it and don’t want spoilers. Stop reading now :’)

BASICALLY it’s about Izuku, who is currently 22 and cannot hold down a job to save his life. This causes issues with him being able to pay rent on his apartment, so he’s kinda desperate for work. All of this changes when he suddenly encounters a strange puppy? Cat? Both?, who Izuku decides to take home with him after the puppycat literally fell out of the sky and bonked him on the head lmao

After Izuku fixes him up, he laments about his inability to get rent money. The puppycat (Todoroki, or Inuko, as he’s referred to in this AU), who is shown to be more than just a brainless pet, reveals that he’s connected with an agency that gives people temporary work—so basically, one day jobs that don’t require actual full time commitment in exchange for pay. Even more of a shock, he’s able to transport himself and Izuku to a place where they can get temporary work. This in turn leads them to doing many different kinds of jobs on various planets. Imagine like, Super Mario Galaxy-esque planets for this. They’re usually pretty small, have a breathable atmosphere, and host a bunch of different talking creatures. Izuku and Inuko take on a variety of jobs and help out tons of aliens, pretty much!

As far as I can tell with what’s been established within the BAPC universe, magic isn’t an out of place thing and the residents of the island that all the characters inhabit are used to weird things happening around them. Of course a lot of them question it if it’s especially weird, but most of them don’t bat an eye at Inuko’s appearance, or that he’s smarter than your average pet. It’s basically a world where magic, technology, and space travel are familiar, at least to the people living on the island.

Anyway, as things progress we learn several things:

Inuko can talk, but only Izuku (and some aliens) can understand him,

Inuko actually has a very tragic past—he was originally a space prince, but abandoned his kingdom and became an outlaw. He fell in love with the Space King’s daughter (different kingdom. Not his own lol) and agreed to run away with her, but she betrayed him and led him into a trap by the Space King and his warlocks. The device meant to capture him malfunctioned and transformed him into the puppycat we all know and love so much before he escaped. Inuko has told this story as more of a fairy tale to Izuku, who isn’t aware that it’s all true and accurate, so he doesn’t know Inuko’s true name is Shouto and that he’s a prince/outlaw,

Izuku is regarded as very immature despite his age (not in the manner of him acting like a child but him just being kind of ignorant about responsibility and taking on more adult points of view) but there’s actually a deeper reason for this,

Izuku’s apartment is basically more of a triplex that he shares with two other families, one of which he grew up closely with. (I haven’t yet decided who each character is within the family yet.) Izuku is especially close to Rody, and they both kind of have a crush on each other?,

Izuku’s father is not present, but is shown to have been very close with him when Izuku was younger. It’s also stated several times that he’s a brilliant inventor. Izuku has a lot of strange magical contraptions in his apartment (and around the island) that were most likely invented by his father. Izuku’s mother is never mentioned,

During several of their temp jobs, Izuku and Inuko are attacked by enormous black hands with no visible body attached to them. They are later revealed to be connected to the warlocks responsible for Inuko’s transformation, who have been hunting Inuko down since his escape,

During a battle with several of these hands, Izuku is torn apart and is revealed to be part cyborg, made up of an assortment of robotic parts. Izuku was aware of this beforehand, but Inuko and Rody were not, so it came as a shock to them. Things start to make more sense: Why Izuku lacks the maturity he should have at his age (if that age is even accurate), the connection he has to his father (who created him), and the bizarre amount of strength he possesses. This event actually draws him and Inuko closer together, as Inuko realizes that they’re both outcasts and don’t really fit in anywhere.

Hi bitches!

I hope this finds you well 😁

I have a question/an opinion to ask and I am going to need to give context, bare with me here:

I lost my grandmother before the holidays and they were really hard. I have close-knit family and we rallied and supported each other as best as we can through her loss (e.g. taking shifts at the hospital, at the funeral) and through the holidays without her.

Now that we are into the New Year and reality is settling in a bit more - we are needing to start figuring things out

The crux of the issue is my grandmother's house.

My sister (22) and myself (27 year old female) (we both still live at home and do work full time) are facing some pressure from my aunt's and uncle's (my grandma has 4 kids. My mom is the oldest) to buy my grandmother's house. My grandmother's house was the place we all gathered at weekly. We all had keys. People would come and go as they pleased and my grandmother loved it.

I think my uncle's and aunt's are doing it somewhat from a place of kindness: we live in Cambridge Ontario Canada and the housing market was HORRIBLE the last year and a bit, and we are headed into a recession according to the news. They note that we wouldn't need a real-estate agent and they would be willing to give us a deal on the price of the house

But my aunt's and uncle's do have some benefit from this too. My uncle lives in the attached house, he wouldn't need to out up a fence in the backyard, and could continue to use most of the driveway if we moved in rather than having to share it with a neighbour. My aunt's would have less things to clean out of the house as we would be moving in and bringing very little furniture as my sister and I still live at home.

My mom who has just lost her mom is quite upset about their suggestion. We lost my grandma on Dec 18 2022 and on Jan 1 2023 my aunt's were already talking about my sister and I buying the house and having us move in. My mom just lost her mom and bawled hearing about us moving out. It is a lot of change in a short amount of time.

Plus my mom (56) has only started to get her financed together in the last year. The money from the sale of the house is a large part of her retirement fund.

My sister and I have a step father who does own an apartment building. We have been trying to save to go splits with him on a triplex so that we could live at home and rent it out to have property and eventually another stream of income. This has been our plan for like 3 years.

With my aunts talking about my sister and I buying my grandmother house, my sister fell in love with the idea. It is a house that holds so many memories and the lost of my grandma is still so new. She wants to go splits on it with me and move in as she does not want anyone else living in the house - a sentiment echoed by my aunt's and uncle's.

I feel so torn, and stressed and want to cry.

I can get on board with her idea. It would be amazing to have a house. Especially one that has so many good memories. This is an opportunity that not a lot of people get, and i do what to recoginze the pribillage in that. I am concerned about affording the house and being about to financially maintain it. The uncle's and aunt's have offered to cosign with us (and when talking about it, they never once brought up that we could cosign with my mom (which hurt her deeply as they said it right in front of her and she was never listed as an option), they volunterred) but I won't do that. It makes me uncomfortable cosigning with them, and the fact that they never brought up my mom as an option doesn't sign right with me.

Plus I am trying to switch careers unhappy at my job and my sister is thinking of going back to school

But I am also terrified of how relationships may fall apart if we don't try to buy th house

I have been full time employed for 3 years. My sister 6 months.

We would need to go in on this together (and possibly still need my mom to cosign). My sister is in love with this idea and is only seeing it with rose coloured glasses.

I am someone who tends to catastricize so I have already thought of all the ways that things could go wrong.

When my sister mentioned about going back to school for 8 months, my aunt straight up told me that I could get a part time job to told things down while she is in school. I work in L&D at a travel insurance company and am facing burn out as I have been teaching back to back classes since Nov 2021 with no break between them. I barely have the energy to do my job.

With something that was this important to so many people (it was the space that everyone gathered constantly and consistently) we have to be delicate and aware of that.

My step-dad is of the mind that financially it doesn't make sense for us to buy it and move out. That renting out the space while living at home would make more sense.

That buying the house and moving in would mean thinking with our hearts and would be a lot harder than we think both financially and with trying to establish boundaries. Mom is of the same mind.

I feel caught in the middle. It is a hell of an opportunity, but it is not what I have been working towards for the last 3 years. I van see wanting to rent the space out not sitting well with my aunts and uncle's.

I guess my question is what are your thoughts on this? Would it be a good move? Am i over thinking everything

I see so much love and pain in your question. Clearly everyone--from you and your sister to your mom to your aunts and uncles to your stepdad--are approaching this situation with a lot of love. And those approaches are generating unintentional pain. Y'all mean well! But there's no clear answer.

I think you need to take a leadership role with your family here. Tell them that unless there's an extremely compelling reason to move quickly to sell the house, you want everyone to spend some time together inside it to go through the grief process. Get used to the idea of your grandmother being gone.

Importantly, this will give everyone time to think logically through the options, without emotions getting in the way. Maybe that'll change someone's mind! But more importantly, it'll leave you and your sister in your mother's home during this painful time, where you'll be able to support her in her grief.

So in a nutshell: advocate waiting a few months before any permanent decisions are made. Don't rush your grieving processes and don't make financial decisions in a time of emotional turmoil if you can help it.

So sorry for your loss, sweet pea. I hope you have the time and space you need to heal with your family.

I don't hate my father, he's really protective of me, he worries about me, works hard for us umm he's actually sweet for only me and my brothers but for my mom he was a selfish, arrogant family oriented guy who easily got manipulated by the others surrounding him, he's 56 and he's still under his mother's shadow, he makes his own money, he goes out but he'd make final decision according to his family's advice and he's the eldest brother. I have 5 aunts and 2 uncles, they're nice nowadays since we're older but when we used to be younger they'd mentally abuse me with hateful words for my mother.

"She's a filthy women, she abandoned you and your brothers, she didn't even try and save this marriage, women like her aren't meant for settled marriage, she isn't worth calling a mother she has no empathy for her own children" but she was helpless and she was struggling she had to live amongst others, her brothers house, her sister's house she just kept wandering around until she found a source to help herself, she forced me several times to go and live with her, but I know she would have to work extra hard for that, so I kept a stone on my heart and told her that I'm gonna continue staying with dad untill I'm independent enough to move out on my own, it's hard without her guidance but dad is here, he really tries to fill in the gap but he's also clueless without her.

I feel like one of the major reasons of their separation are my aunts. they had a dynamic like this with my mom, "living in the same house acting like they don't know each other" our house is actually really big, it's a triplex house, mom wouldn't go downstairs, we'd be on the second floor and the saddest part we had one room, like one single room, we were three siblings, we'd share the same bed and mom would sleep on the floor sometimes dad accompanying her, my mom would wait till 3AM in the morning for him to come and eat the dinner that she's cooked with so much care, but he'd be in the living room, chatting with my aunts and mom would eventually fall asleep empty stomach because she had this habit of eating with him.

I mean we had such a big house, and we had like 4 spare bedrooms, mom tried to move out and look for a apartment somewhere far away but they were like no you'd stay in this house on that single bedroom, we used to eat in rat same room, we used to do everything we had a big ass balcony which mom later turned into a bedroom because we needed one. You could say that we used to live in that room and she'd go out using the back door, we actually had a separate kitchen so good she was told to not go downstairs, they had a big fight about it I'm sure.

imao I've said too much but yeah she's struggled a lot so I'm actually glad she was 'kicked' out of this hell hole at 5AM in the morning by the father because she allegedly 'cheated' on him with my uncle. (my dad's freaking biological brother)

Your family's story sounds like one hell of a drama series plot.

And with the way your mother lived, she is probably better to leave that house.

There is no good coming to live with a husband that is heavily influenced by his relatives. It's a brewing disaster.

I think you just need to think carefully about what you really want with your life, sort your priorities, and start to work it out from there.

I'm sitting around analyzing this financial part of my end of the situation, and I don't know that the $2000/month direct deposit thing on the part of SSI is going to come through. It might be a situation of sitting around in one of those units without a car and probably not even being able to afford a recliner.

I'm thinking of using it as a launchpad to get back to work up to the income limit and save towards moving outbound to save towards that house.
