《 WHO ARE YOU? 》

“I.” There’s nothing but a stagnant pause as the girl in the chair considers the question with misty eyes and soft lips. Her fingers are almost always curled, as if permanently trained to curve over something that needed a handle—and her lustrous dark hair silken, but gentle in the wind. “Am Lyra.” The whisper of her voice is eerily soft, the tinders of it echoing off the walls like the softest rush of breeze, pleasing to the ears and soothing to one’s eyes, in lieu of her apparent timidity. Her fingers chafe against each other, the curve of her body low and crouching, like a timid child hunched over itself, feet crossed and toes twitching. Her thumb finds its way to her teeth—the skin ripping off as she bites down on the epidermis with brutal force. The skin around her fingers are chapped, as though she’d chewed through them all more than just once—more than just one single time. With the question answered and her attention spent, the girl merely turns her head towards the side, peering through a curtain of dark hair at the bright lights beyond the window, long lashes fluttering ever so lightly. “Just Lyra. Nothing More, nothing less.” As though she sensed that they needed an answer better than that, she acquiesced, giving yet another reiteration of her name in a soft voice.

《 HOW DID YOU GET HERE? 》

“I was brought back.” It seemed as though she was only capable of brief, simple sentences, her thumb flying back to her mouth like a form of reassurance, a bored yawn crossing over her features as she gave a morose sigh. “Done?” The question was clear, the boredom openly expressed. Lyra had more things to attend to—or so she felt. “I was here before. According to him. He saved me from a terrible life.” She tilted her head for a moment, considering her answer. “Or so he says. I don’t know.” The shrug was more relaxed and offhanded as she slowly relaxed her guards, body straightening ever so slightly as her eyes flickered. “I don’t remember much. Or anything.” She tapped her lips slightly. “But I came back when he asked me to return.” The smile she gives is innocent, but yet unsettling, as though the crescents that squeeze her eyes together in a smile isn’t what it truly is. The tremor of unsettling air flutters lightly, mixed with the barest hint of a vile but vicious bloodlust, before vanishing completely—and what is left is merely a young woman, as clean as a white sheet of paper, and as seemingly innocent as a kitten. “Are we done?” Cheer lights up her youthful features, and a happy smile spreads over her lips, washing away the previously unsettling feeling from before.”Great, I’ll see you around then.” The unsettling smile flickers back in place only for a moment, before she nods lightly and disappears through the door.
