Last year, Sony announced a pocket sized “air conditioner” designed to be worn in a t-shirt, which we thought would be a perfect fit for the construction industry, which routinely works in unpleasant temperatures throughout the year. Well it’s finally for sale, but you might have some trouble getting your hands on one, unless you’re in Japan.

Sony had intended to release the Reon Pocket, as the wearable air conditioner is called, in conjunction with the 2020 Summer Olympics.  As you’re probably aware, the Olympics have been delayed due to the Coronavirus Pandemic, but Sony made good on their release anyway.

Available on Sony Japan’s website, the Reon Pocket RNP-1A retails for just over $120 converted to USD.  Shirts with built-in pockets for the device convert to about $17 in USD. The actual device measures about 2 inches wide by about 5 inches tall and weighs about 3 ounces, according to their website translated into English.

The Reon Pocket has a built-in lithium ion battery that can last between 2 and 4 hours depending on the conditions of use. It will also take about 2.5 hours to recharge it completely.

Using the Peltier effect, which uses electrical currents to raise of lower temperature such as in a water cooler, the Reon Pocket can lower your external temperature by as much as 23 degrees or raise it as much as 14 degrees.

The device can be controlled through a smartphone app, which allows you to toggle between cool, warm, and off, as well as set the temperature.

No word on if or when this device will be made available in America, but this is something that I would love to try.

Sony might have a way to beat the heat, if you can wait for it. The company's First Flight crowdfunding platform has launched a wearable "air conditioner," the Reon Pocket. Sony ra mắt máy làm mát di động gắn bên trong áo, giá 120 USD

Lần đầu tiên được giới thiệu vào mùa hè năm ngoái, nhưng đến bây giờ Sony mới chính thức ra mắt chiếc máy làm mát cá nhân Sony Reon Pocket. Không giống với những chiếc máy làm mát thông thường với kích thước rất lớn, Sony Reon Pocket vô cùng nhỏ gọn và có thể được gắn ngay bên trong áo sơ mi, giúp bạn chống lại cái nóng khi phải đi ra đường.

Được bán kèm với một chiếc áo đặc biệt, Sony Reon Pocket có thể được gắn ở phía sau lưng, ngay dưới vùng cổ để làm mát cho cơ thể người dùng. Chiếc điều hòa này sử dụng hiệu ứng nhiệt điện Peltier để hấp thụ nhiệt bằng dòng điện, giúp làm giảm nhiệt độ xuống 5 độ C so với nhiệt độ thông thường.

Một mặt của Sony Reon Pocket sẽ tiếp xúc với phần lưng của người dùng và làm mát, trong khi một chiếc quạt sẽ thổi khi nóng ra phía bên ngoài. Sony Reon Pocket cũng có thể kết nối với bộ xử lý iOS và Android, để điều khiển bằng mobile thông minh.

Người dùng có thể điều chỉnh bằng tay, hoặc đặt ở chế độ tự động. Khi đặt ở chế độ tự động, chiếc điều hòa có thể nhận biết người dùng đang có hoạt động gì để điều chỉnh cho phù hợp và duy trì mức độ vui vẻ nhất.

Không chỉ dùng để làm mát, Sony Reon Pocket cũng có thể dùng để sưởi ấm, cũng bằng nhiệt điện Peltier nhưng hoạt động ngược lại.

Tuy nhiên, hạn chế của chiếc điều hòa này là thời lượng sử dụng. Do có kích thước nhỏ gọn, nên dung lượng pin cũng bị hạn chế. Sony cho biết thời gian PIN chỉ trong khoảng 2 đến 4 giờ, và thời gian sạc đầy pin sẽ mất khoảng 2 tiếng.

REON POCKET 放入能提升舒適感的專用內衣的後頸位置口袋裡。

這套名為REON POCKET 的穿戴裝置外型纖薄，只要穿上特製內衣，把REON POCKET 放在後頸的小袋子裡，就可以透過手機來控制裝置產生接觸冷感或溫感，讓身體感到舒適的溫度。

透過手機程式除了可調整 5 段溫度外，還可以設定風力和冷暖溫度循環。

據 REON POCKET 的眾籌網站指出， REON POCKET 全面採用了 Sony 從流動裝置設計累積得來的熱設計技術，經過幾百次模擬測試，而內衣本身也具備提升舒適性的作用。眾籌網頁的例子指出 REON POCKET 能夠在夏天時，令使用者的表面溫度降低攝氏 13 度，而在冬天就可以將使用者的表面溫度提升攝氏 8.3 度。由於裝置不太厚，��以即使是穿上裇衫或西裝都不顯眼。

而眾籌方面，目標是籌得6,600 萬日圓（約港幣$479 萬），售價方面，標準型號早鳥價最低由1 機1 內衣的14,080 日圓（約港幣$1,021 ），至最高1 機5 內衣的19,030 日圓（約港幣$1,380 ）；而輕型號1 機1 內衣則售12,760 日圓（約港幣$925 ）。眾籌將會在 8 月 19 日結束，預定 2020 年 3 月出貨。比較可惜的是 REON POCKET 只接受日本國內訂購，如果未能達到目標的話，也不會另行推出產品。
