MANQABAT

A Manqabat is a Sufi devotional poem which is written in praise of Imam Ali Ibne Abi Talib, the son in law of Prophet Muhammad or a Sufi saint. There were many poets in Islamic History who have written a lot in praise of Imam Ali in their poems.

Manqabat is also a part of poetry. The Manqabat prose is implicitly understood to be spiritual in its meaning, even though the lyrics can sometimes sound wildly secular or outright devotional. The central themes of Manqabat are love, devotion and praise of holy saint.

It is one of the forms of Qawwali. It is performed mainly at Sufi shrines or Dargahs. It was basically sung in South Asia but has gained global popularity now. Manqabat have received an international appeal from many of famous Urdu poets and singers.

In Qawwali, Manqabat is sung to music. The most well known of the Qawwalli manqabat is “man kunto maula” which is written by Amir Khusrau in praise of Imam Ali. CM DIRECTS CHECKING OF FIRE SAFETY ARRANGEMENTS IN HIGH-RISE BUILDINGS, SHOPPING MALLS AND MARKETS

LAHORE, Oct. 23:

Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar has directed the Home Department for checking of fire safety arrangements in high-rise buildings, shopping malls and commercial plazas and a circular has also been issued to commissioners and DCs for a comprehensive survey. Fire safety arrangements will be checked through survey teams consisting of additional deputy commissioner (revenue), district officer 1122, civil defence officer, district officer (industries) and the representative of housing department/development authorities. The management of all such buildings will be bound to keep fire-safety equipment functional along with arrangements for safe emergency exit. Similarly, the owners will also be responsible for the fire-fighting system and the concerned administration and civil defence officials will be bound for regular monitoring of fire-fighting arrangements and submission of reports to the CM Office.

CM MESSAGE ON WORLD POLIO DAY

LAHORE, Oct. 23:

Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar has said total elimination of polio disease is a priority agenda of the government.

In his message, the CM maintained all-out resources are utilized to give a healthy future to the children. The Health Department, as well as the administration, is activated to overcome polio disease and I am personally monitoring steps taken in this regard, he added. The Punjab government has devised anti-polio SOPs in the light of WHO guidelines and monitoring of observance of these SOPs is carried out as well, he added. The CM appealed to the parents to administer anti-polio drops to their children to save them from this disease. The society is also duty-bound to play its role for a polio-free Pakistan because the anti-polio drive is aimed at saving the future of the children, concluded the CM.

CM CHAIRS CEREMONY OF SIGNING AGREEMENT OF PUNJAB ROZGAR SCHEME

LAHORE, Oct. 23:

Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar chaired the ceremony of signing an agreement of Punjab Rozgar Scheme at his office on Friday. President of The Bank of Punjab Zafar Masood and MD Punjab Small Industries Corporation Jamil Ahmed Jamil signed the agreement. Provincial Ministers Hashim Jawan Bakht, Fayyaz ul Hassan Chohan, ACS (Local Govt), Secretary Finance and Secretary Information were also present.  

Talking on the occasion, the CM stated more than 16 lakh needy people will get jobs through this largest employment scheme worth Rs30 billion. Under the agreement, Punjab Bank will provide soft loans to successful applicants. This scheme will make the youth economically self-reliant and the owners of small and medium scale industries, as well as the traders facing financial crunch due to corona pandemic, will be able to develop their businesses, he added.

Giving the details, the CM said loans from one lakh rupees to 10 million rupees will be offered to 20 to 50 years old applicants at the very minimal interest rate. Small loans will be provided for 339 sub-sectors of 23 assorted sectors, including 26 sub-sectors of the textile industry. This scheme will promote cottage industry, he added. The government plans to transform individual skills as an investment and this scheme will prove a gamechanger initiative in this regard, he added.

The CM was briefed that 9428 persons have applied for loans; required fee is not deposited with 6138 applications while 3035 applications are submitted along-with fee and PSIC has processed 1619 applications.
