Man in a Suitcase: Man from the Dead (1.6, ITC, 1967)
"Mac, don't go."
"I have to. I have to, I just... have to."
"Where're you going?"
"To Southampton. I gotta get my suitcase and my car."
"Are they so important?"
"Yes ma'am. They're all I own."

Bradford refused to perform a lengthy exposition speech at the end of the episode‚ having decided it was out of character#angering producers and beginning the somewhat tricky working relationship he'd find himself in throughout the series. it was probably the#right call on his part‚ but the quality of the scripts would become a recurring issue of contention between star and producers

Living with Yourself - Season 1 (2019) Review
Tumblr media
What’s better that Paul Rudd? That’s right, two Paul Rudds!
Plot: A man who is burned out on life and love undergoes a mysterious treatment, only to discover that he has been replaced by a better version of himself.
“60% of the time, it works everytime!” He has many names. He’s Brian Fantana in the Anchorman movies, he’s Ant-Man in the MCU, or, you know, he’s that guy from Wet Hot American Summer who makes out with Elizabeth Banks for no particular reason. But encompassed he is the never-ageing Paul Rudd. And no one can hate Paul Rudd. He has effortless warmth, charm and comedy chops all melded into one handsome but somehow still relatable package. He’s the Everyman figure under the Hollywood skies. Which is why he’s so fitting for the new Netflix series Living with Yourself, where he plays two versions of himself, the one encompassing all of his charmful, heightened, charismatic attributes alongside a version where he is just the normal every day guy. And of course Paul Rudd ends up being the reason to seek out this show. He does such a great job at acting both ways, and also a shout out to the visual effects and technical crew members behind this series, as through the use of modern technology they manage to have both of the Paul Rudd’s characters appear on screen simultaneously look very seamless. It actually does look like Paul Rudd has a twin brother here. Though it is just him. Or is it?........No, it’s definitely just him. I doubt that this is some kind of Hollywood conspiracy hiding a second Paul Rudd. Then again, maybe not?...
Putting Paul Rudd aside though, Living with Yourself in itself is quite the enjoyable watch, and though the idea of cloning someone and having two of the same person is not the most original idea these days, this series does successfully engage you and though it’s a bit messy here and there, overall is a good watch. It’s a mix of comedy and drama with it more leaning towards drama (or more-so melodrama), however the humour is still there, mainly due to the absurdity that comes out from certain characters that react so nonchalantly to either shocking or surprising scenarios. Another well done element was how the narrative was not always linear, with the various episodes taking perspectives of the different Paul Rudd’s, so many times we’d end up rewatching the same scene but from the point of view of a different character. I can see this getting a bit confusing to some viewers, however I seemed to have no problem following it. Also, the other main cast member is Aisling Bea, who plays Rudd’s wife, and it was nice to see the wife-character not stuck in that stereotype role, and she had a lot more to do than I anticipated and though Paul Rudd is definitely the star of this show, she very much stood her own.
All in all, Living with Yourself is an easy breezy binge watch (only 8 episodes which each episode ranging from 20-30 minutes) with a twisted side (kind of reminded me in some way of another Netflix series Santa Clarita Diet, both in tone and style) and a winning double-performance from Paul Rudd. Not the most original piece in the market, but enjoyable nonetheless.
Overall score: 7/10

Just when I thought the story would go one way....

(Hopefully by this point you’ve finished all episodes of Season 1, the kind of person who isn’t bothered by spoilers from the rest of the season, or are just deciding if you still want to keep watching.)
-
-

-
-
...it goes another. :)
I kind of like how they writers wanted to show how much Miles loves Kate. Such a simple thing. And as I’m writing this...I’m thinking about Extinction...and how in a way...this is kind of a similar dilemma.
Well...similar but different. How about if cloning is legalised? What would happen to clones that have used their ‘use by’ date (at least by the original human)? Wouldn’t there be a risk of clones...rising up...wiping out the originals?
(Which makes me wonder: How to know which one is the clone...and which one is the original? If neither know?)
--------
HIGHLIGHT:
Clone Miles’ rainbow urine.
--------
My verdict of the episode: 8/10
Link to the timestamp commentary: TBA
