Vande Bharat Express Trains Trials Likely on 10 February for Mumbai to Shirdi and Mumbai to Solapur Ghat Routes
Tumblr media
The trial for Vande Bharat Express trains on two routes will take place on 10 February in the ghat sections. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be present to launch the said train for the routes Mumbai to Solapur and Mumbai to Shirdi. The high-speed train from Mumbai to Shirdi will probably run through the Thal ghat in Kasara clocking 5.25 hours and 340 kilometers.
And the Mumbai to Solapur Vande Bharat train will possibly run through the Bhor ghat, which is placed between Karjat and Khandala in the direction of Pune. It will cover 400 kilometers in 6.35 hours. Currently, additional locomotives or bankers are used to haul the trains that pass through both these ghats. The bankers also help to avoid train rollback if the parting of coaches occurs. A railway official said that they may receive trains within the next week and later from Chennai-based integrated Coach Factory.
And after this, the trials will begin for the ghat sections. The bankers attaching and detaching consumes a few minutes, leading to an increase in travel time because of technical halts. Vande Bharat Express will assist in substituting the bankers for the ghat sections as it will come with parking brakes. These brakes will avert the train from rolling down on a gradient. The trains will have a gradient of 1:37. It indicates a rise of 1 meter for every 37-meter run.
Thal ghat also known as Kasara ghat is 14 kilometre long. It runs between Kasara and Igatpuri sections. The Bhor ghat is known as Khandala ghat as well. It is around 25 kilometers long and runs between Karjat and Khandala stations. These ghats are also the toughest railway sections in India, with high via ducts and multiple tunnels.
Vande Bharat Express trains are equipped with automatic plug doors with sliding footsteps, a control management system to keep air-conditioning in check, a touch-free sliding door in the coach itself, and passenger infotainment and information system for each coach. The train also has ‘kavach’, which is a collision-avoidance system. Last but not the least, the train also has bio-vacuum toilets like those in airplanes.
There are a total of eight trains of Vande Bharat Express to date, which the center has launched for different inter-state routes. It also comprises one that runs between Mumbai and Gandhinagar. This is a semi-high-speed indigenously designed train. It is a self-propelled automotive with a set of 16 coaches, with a speed of 160 kmph covered in only 140 seconds, giving a better comfort and riding experience to passengers.

A Helicopter Application Introduced in Mumbai
Tumblr media
A helicopter application for the wealthy population has been launched in India`s financial capital, Mumbai. Blade is an app that offers users to book a helicopter trip. It was first introduced in the USA, where rich users could travel between New York City and Hamptons for $795 or benefit from shorter flights in and around Manhattan and other American cities like Miami and Los Angeles. As CNN Business reports in an article, the application will also operate in Mumbai with hubs in Mumbai`s trendy neighborhoods Juhu and Mahalaxmi. The idea is to provide a ride between the heliports and to Pune that is the closest big city. But there will be a flight to Shirdi too. Shirdi is a popular religious site that is located relatively near. Blade`s CEO Rob Wiesenthal told CNN Business: “The growth that you're experiencing here in India is stratospheric.”, reportedly adding that the country`s strong economy is the reason behind launching the service in Mumbai. He explained that the transportation infrastructure hasn`t managed to keep up with the growth and there are heavy congestions cities in the country. The company hasn`t decided what prices it would offer in India yet, but it`s clear they will target the richest people in the country. The application`s cheapest service in the USA is a five-minute flight from Manhattan to JFK that costs between $195 and $295. “What Blade is providing is a high-end service that will provide a template, hopefully, and a roadmap as urban air mobility becomes less expensive and becomes more of a mass-market product.”, as the CEO commented as quoted by CNN`s article. Other companies are also trying to establish themselves on the market. One of them is JetSetGo that offers bookings of private jets and helicopters online. Another offering is available in India`s technology city, Banglore, where there are helicopter taxi rides offered to its airport for $65. Read the full article

COVID-19 puts curbs on religious travel
New Post has been published on https://apzweb.com/covid-19-puts-curbs-on-religious-travel/
COVID-19 puts curbs on religious travel
NEW DELHI: With administrative directions on mass gatherings being issued across states, detection of a COVID-19 case in Amritsar, closure of the Tirupati, Vaishno Devi and Shirdi temples, and the calling off of Friday prayers at the bada Imambada in Lucknow, even the gods are out of bounds for people.
Hotel bookings and room nights in pilgrimage sites are declining across destinations with travellers deferring all plans, said hotels, tour operators, and OTAs. The religious tourism business in India is a season agnostic business and many hotel chains have invested heavily in the space with ambitious pipelines.
“The decision of different state authorities to close some prominent religious attractions in the country such as the Siddhivinayak Temple, Vaishno Devi, has made travellers reschedule or cancel their domestic plans. As a result, there has been an impact on hotel bookings as well where we have seen a decline,” said Sabina Chopra, co-founder Yatra.com.
Kapil Goswamy, managing director of Bigbreaks.com said all the destinations are affected.
“Religious destinations, which are otherwise insulated through the year started following the same trajectory of leisure destinations even before these bans were put in place this week. The decision to close down some of these sites is a positive one as these are the destinations where people gather in large numbers,” he said.
“Vaishno Devi and Tirupati are destinations where a lot of overcrowding happens. I know of regular travellers who are not going. There are direct flights to Shirdi now but either they are not operating or have a very low load. The same holds true for Vaishno Devi. People stopped going before the shrine board announced the closure,” he added.
Bhanu Chopra, founder of SaaS startup RateGain, which works with leading hotels and OTAs, said that while most religious destinations have seen a decline, Puri, Ajmer, Coimbatore, Govardhan, Hospet saw the biggest drop in bookings between January and February 2020. Abhishek Rajan, senior VP at Paytm said the company has seen a more than 30% drop in travellers visiting the top ten pilgrimage destinations.
“We have seen an aggregate decline of 80% drop in bookings and room nights in the month of January and February at pilgrimage sites. More branded chains have been investing in opening hotels at religious sites as demand in these places remains high through out the year,” he added.
A spokesperson from a leading hotel chain said bookings were down by 50% in Amritsar.
“This might get worse in the coming days as the Punjab government is cancelling all bus services across the state from tomorrow. There is a rumour that even trains might not be allowed. Kartarpur Sahib and Wagah are also closed,” the spokesperson said.
A man who returned from Milan to Amritsar was the first Coronavirus case for Punjab this month.
The Varanasi district administration banned the gatherings on ghats for the ganga aarti on Wednesday while the J&K administration also suspended pilgrimage to Vaishno Devi. The Tirupati Balaji temple was also shut down for devotees from Friday in a bid to contain the COVID-19 outbreak in the country.
The Shirdi temple was closed for devotees by the administration from Tuesday till further orders while the famous ISKCON temple in Vrindavan has also been closed for all devotees till March 31.

Making The Most Of The Time Spent Traveling
Travel, no matter where and when or for what purpose, is very exciting, but you can't forget about all the things you must consider, as you are preparing for a trip. If you are going abroad, there are cultural issues to consider, including culture shock and others. With tips like these, you can will be better prepared for successful and fun travel. When traveling, whether it's for a day or a month, don't advertise your absence on social media sites. If you do, this lets people know that you're going to be away from home and that most likely your house will be empty. This significantly raises your chances of being robbed while you're out of town. When flying, always have a bottle of water handy. Drinking plenty of fluids will ensure that your body stays hydrated during the flight. The air inside the cabin is extremely dry, playing havoc with your body. Don't substitute alcohol or caffeine for water, as this can make dehydration worse. You can save space in your luggage by packing in large airtight bags, such as ziplocks. Find the gallon or 2 gallon size bags, pack t-shirts, socks, underwear and other lightweight fabric items in them, and then roll the air out of the bag before zipping shut. This will reduce the size of your items down and you will be able to fit more in your bag. If you are traveling into a malaria-prone area, in addition to anti-malaria pills, bring a mosquito net or find a room with a large ventilation fan. The net is best as it can almost completely stop mosquitoes from getting to you at night. The fan works because mosquitoes cannot fly as well into the wind, but it is not fool-proof. Protect your liquids from spilling when you travel with a homemade bottle stopper. Before screwing the cap on your travel-sized toiletries, cover the top with a small piece of plastic removed from a plastic shopping bag. This will both protect your clothes from the liquid and keep the liquid inside its container. If you plan on traveling with young children, make sure to stop often on the way there and back. Explain them in details where you are going, and how long it will take to go there. Prepare some activities to keep them busy during the trip, such as coloring books. If you have a fear of flying and need a drink to help you relax on the plane, always make sure that you add two drinks of water to that one alcoholic beverage. The worst thing you can do is drink too much on a plane and get sick or dehydrated. If you're traveling to a foreign country and have any allergies or medical conditions, plan ahead. While most modernized countries can provide anything you might need, some specialty items that are available in the United States aren't available elsewhere. Planning ahead will make fare of taxi from mumbai to shirdi and will allow you to enjoy yourself more. Many coffee drinkers have noticed that making coffee with tap water from the hotel produces a less-than-delicious brew. Rather than using tap water, melt some ice from the ice machines. The machines use only filtered water, which makes it far more ideal for brewing coffee and which won't turn your stomach. Prior to your trip, join some forums specifically related to travel. These communities are filled with knowledgable people who can be of great service before, during and after your vacation. Stay active in whatever community you have chosen throughout the year, as you may find some great travel ideas for next season's adventure! Don't stop researching prices after you have booked your flight, rental car and hotel room. You may find that the prices have dropped even further. Be sure to thoroughly read the cancellation policy on your reservations. If you can, cancel your current reservations and book at the better rates. Traveling safely and with all the considerations that are important, in mind, relies on your ability to prepare the right way, even for those cultural differences you will encounter. As you prepare for a trip, no matter where you plan to go, make sure that you read these tips to start.
