simple question: please give your thoughts (brief or otherwise) on each i7 character!! ^^ -nagi anon
*cracks knuckles* oh my sweet anon, i hope you're prepared for the rant you've just invited /lh (i'm actually breaking this up into multiple posts cos it's gonna get long lmaooooo)
part 1/6
iori: he used to be the one i found the most relatable, back when i was in college and still had a tiny scrap of perfectionism left. i really like how the accent color for his stage costumes was changed from black to dark blue - i dunno if this was done for any story-related reason, but i like to think of it as a symbol of iori's personal growth throughout the series. like, he started out mostly focusing on riku, mitsuki, and the rest of the group, taking his own feelings into consideration very little, if at all. obviously he still cares a great deal about idolish7's success, since he's still their co-manager and all, but it's less about business for him now and more about wanting to achieve something great with his friends.
yamato: oh, boy. this guy. i have Feelings about yams. his lowkey self-loathing, his laid-back attitude that hides a load of anger, his sometimes alarming alcohol consumption (though tbf any regular alcohol consumption is slightly alarming to me because Reasons, so ymmv). he reminds me so much of myself it's kind of pathetic (minus the drinking lol). to be honest That One Scene with yuki, while weirdly cathartic, gives me hella anxiety cos it kind of forces me to think about my own violent impulses (and let me remind you, that was while he was SOBER). i never thought he would become one of my favorites, but here we are. maybe it's because his arc has a happy ending, and it shows that no one is irredeemable, no matter how much they may think so. :) also i'm partial to sanpaku characters lol
mitsuki: absolutely 100% the most underrated and under-appreciated. i will personally fight anyone who makes this man cry. i would kill god if it meant mitsuki never thought of himself as Not Good Enough again. like they've said several times throughout the series, making conversation is a skill, and doing it so easily is a TALENT. mitsuki's been blessed with the gift of being able to just talk to anyone and make it feel natural and fun! i wish i was even a single percent that good with people! those folks in the shop that one time can suck my entire ass. also wow i can't believe mitsuki is canonically trans u guys. also also it lowkey makes me wanna cry a little when mitsuki's like "wheh i'm so short :( why can't i be taller :(((" like BITCH i wish i was your height. also also also i really wanna try his pancakes ;u; even though that's impossible
tamaki: fave. ride-or-die. best boy. oshi, even. for one, KENN is my number one favorite voice actor of all time, so that's immediate points in tama's favor. i think i just love how honest tamaki is! he feels his feelings 100%, he's sweet, he's cool, he's cute. he's got a one-track mind and he's self-contradictory. he's impulsive and childish and pretty dumb but he can be surprisingly intuitive and he's great with children and i wanna pat him on the head so bad cos i bet his hair's really soft ;; it's weird, he's one of those characters that i look up to but that i also wanna protect, you know? he reminds me of my little brother in that way. i also have a huge soft spot for characters who express themselves best through physical means such as dance, so there's that, too ;u; as;d;lkf;ldsk;lf i can't even properly word what it is that i like about him! like idk man he just has Fave Energy?? but as lightskindiluc posted about a while back, it's really creepy that he's been relegated to being the "sexy one" even though he's a minor (not to mention ace-coded af). hate that shit.
