This PPV was way too crazy for us not to talk about it so @theanticool and I got back in the Dojo to talk about all of the moments from UFC 300.
We start off briefly poking some fun at PFL audio issues before diving right into UFC 300. We go over the monstrous left hook that Pereira wrecked Hill with, the weirdness of Zhang Vs Yan, Max Holloway's all time violent performance and so much more.
“Men cannot be men — much less good or heroic men — unless their actions have meaningful consequences to people they truly care about. Strength requires an opposing force, courage requires risk, mastery requires hard work, honor requires accountability to other men. Without these things, we are little more than boys playing at being men, and there is no weekend retreat or mantra or half-assed rite of passage that can change that. A rite of passage must reflect a real change in status and responsibility for it to be anything more than theater. No reimagined manhood of convenience can hold its head high so long as the earth remains the tomb of our ancestors.” –Jack Donovan
On a night with one of the greatest finishing sequences of all time, this one was up there. For different reasons.
Hill throws a body kick that goes low and hits the cup. Herb Dean jumps in to give Pereira time to recover but Pereira waves him off. Pereira than proceeds to KO Hill immediately with the very next punch he throws, a left hook that splits the guard. He follows up with some GnP and the fight is over. Not much to mention before hand. Hill was trying to pick off Pereira but it seems Pereira was just building reads while slowly pressing Hill to the cage.
Poatan finally gets a title defense on the MMA resume. Guy also has three former UFC LHW Champs on the resume. Fuck it, send him up to heavyweight to fight Tom Aspinall for the heavyweight championship when Jones and Stipe retire.
