TEMTEMTMEMTME IWANT TO KNOW JERBOA FACTS

YAYAYYAYAYA !!!!!!

ok so jerboas are little mice-like rodents, and they are found parts of north Africa and asia in desert and grassland areas as their bodies can thrive well in hot and sandy areas . there are 33 species of jerboa !! my personal favoueire is the lesser egyptian jerboa they are very cute

their most notable feature is of course their kangaroo-like legs !! they use these to hop about, and can run up to 15mph (24kmh)to escape from predators !!!!! their predators include foxes, cats, jackals, small owls and snakes that live with them in the desert . thwy also have fine hairs on their feet that help them grip onto sand for better turning corners ! also their big tail can be twice as long as its body ! their bodies are usually 2 - 6 inches long

they weigh around 25-30g,but the lightest jerboa is the baluchistan pygmy jerboa which only weights 3.8g even when fully grown !! they r so tiny

they are crepuscular which means that they are most active during twilight but also night as well. they have very big eyes so they can see in the dark easily. they live in burrows which is where they sleep during the day, but they actually have multiple burrows that they will cycle throughout the year ! ,, they have two permanent burrows for the summer and winter, and the winter one is made to be warmer and safer for when they hibernate, and the summer one is also where the jerboa pups arw raised , and may make smaller temperary ones for when they are out hunting too !!

fun fact jerboas are omnivores and eat insects and plants, but many jerboas will never drink water ever as they get all the hydration they need from the food rhey eat !

sadly though they are illegal to have as pets brcause they carry monkeypox and they dont thrive well in captivity anyway : ( they would require a lot of time and care
