i think the thing i hate the most about college applications is this weird pressure to make everything about yourself marketable. i’m working on my supplemental essays right now and i’m thinking about all these experiences i’ve had and how important they are to me, but they don’t fit the prompt or the right values or they don’t demonstrate growth in exactly the right way, and i hate that i feel like i don’t have anything to write about just because the things that matter to me are things that aren’t “important” on an application

#sorry this is not my normal type of post LMAO #but yeah idk its honestly kind of saddening bc ive had so much happen these past few years #and a lot of stuff that actually represents me as a person #but its not the kind of thing colleges are looking for #and i hate flattening all my essays into these digestible 250-word pieces with all the personality sucked out of them #the stuff that actually matters to me is like. my friends. art. taking photos of sunsets. holding hands #not 'demonstrating leadership' or 'challenging myself with new perspectives' #life should be abt living!! going out there and doing stuff!! #it shouldnt be abt how we're always striving to be better than someone else #anyway. just had to get that out of my system #college
