#and if you think people shouldn't get basic human rights and respect for some damn reason you are wrong and need a punch to the face

Whatever happened to the phrase "I'm only human" I think that needs to come back. Because a lot of people are thinking human means perfect these days and it's pissing me off. Human is literally a synonym with imperfect!
#it's the fascism and white supremacy. I am going to bite someone.#people are getting dehumanized for the most human of actions. like mistakes. and existing. or being a little bit to weird#people are getting dehumanized for being human! peoples ideas of human are getting white washed and sanitized for a Christian audience#black people are human. Jewish people are human. mentally ill people are human. physically disabled people are human#that asshole you hate is human. that mother fucker who abused you is human.#people with heavily scrutinized mental illnesses are human. bipolar people are human. npd people are human. people with psychosis are human#that homeless man is human. that drug addict and alcoholic are human. every single person on this goddamned planet are human#and if you think people shouldn't get basic human rights and respect for some damn reason you are wrong and need a punch to the face#a human deserves basic rights and respect like a safe place to live and food to eat.#they deserve safe places to go about their lives even if that means doing drugs and drinking#honestly every drug addict deserves a safe clean place to do it. with safe and clean supplies and drugs#because they are addicted for a goddamned reason and it's because this world is currently hell on earth for many many people#and if drugs and alcohol help with the pain of existing in this fucked up world that is currently hostile to so many people.#i don't blame them. I completely understand. if I hadn't been in therapy since childhood I would likely be an addict.#the world is hostile to everyone especially to minorities. why are you blaming people for trying to lessen their suffering.#ranting in the tags#rant#venting in tags#vent post#vent

Watching star trek with allistic people is difficult. It's like we're not even watching the same show. And I can't rant about how much I fucking hate how most of the Enterprise crew treats Data (admittedly I'm only on the first season so maybe it gets better) but so far damn near every episode involves someone making fun of an autistic coded trait of Data. And it sucks, because the character I relate to the most does not get the respect he deserves.
Don't even get me started on his brother Lore. Oh he's evil and you can tell because he's a glitchy robot who has a facial tic. When is that tired old trope going to be put to rest?
Spock also gets poked fun at for his autistic coded traits but at least he was respected by the crew and he poked fun back. And it wasn't really intended to be hurtful, it was mostly in a joking manner.
With TNG, the reason why the crew made fun of him was because he was too perfect in certain areas in their eyes so they made fun of what he wasn't perfect at. Like we get it, he's not human, he doesn't have to be human and they shouldn't expect him to act like one. He's a person, they don't expect other species to behave like humans so why should they expect Data to behave like a human. He's a synthetic lifeform but they seem to forget the lifeform aspect. He's alive, he's a person, he's himself and he shouldn't have to be anyone else. They've literally communicated with basically grains of sand and have acknowledged them as living sentient beings. And the off switch argument also doesn't matter because humans also have what could be considered an off switch. A Vulcan nerve pinch knocks them, and other species, right out. So far Geordi and maybe Wesley are the only people who consistently show Data respect and don't look down on him.
Anyway, some of this might not be entirely accurate since I'm pretty new to star trek. What do y'all think? Does it get better later on in the series or is it pretty much the same?

I know you're tags about 'are all these men irreplaceable blobs to you' and that post in general is a little tongue in cheek but I genuinely think that's how far far too many football fans actuality see players. I'll spare the anti-capitalism rant but like basically they're treated as commodities by the clubs and fifa etc. and that translates to the fans (and media) as well. just look at the language we use for transfers, it's incredibly dehumanising. If we all picked a 'flop' to unapologetically root for it probably would make fan culture an awful lot better because at least they'd be far more people seeing players as human beings or even just praising them for the shit they do right
lemme do a read more cause i think I'm just rambling to be cathartic and it's a Friday afternoon and i don't wanna do any damn work.
god, the way that football organisations treat players is insane like i'd like to see anyone making decisions about the football calendar and adding more and more matches into a season try and do that themselves let alone pushing a bunch of athletes to do it year in year out. fuck me the fact we have 2 instances of UEFA going "i know the incident that just happened to you (bus bombing/ teammate resuscitated on the pitch) was traumatic but like could you please just get on with playing the silly little football game now anyway? thanks xx"
i think "treat players as humans" is literally the easiest thing in the world to do and the fact there are many fans that fail to clear that bar is just.... holy shit. idk if it's because of the wealth they earn or because their job is essentially "kick about with my mates every week" that makes people feel as though they can go and abuse them on social media or whatever but it's such an insane mindset to have.
i think because so much comes down to player performance our approach to players obviously enters more nuanced and complex territory than just treat people with respect/don't harrass people to the point they have to limit their insta comments (which is what spurs fans did to royal and i wish those people a very get hit over the head with a brick). this comes into like you said the language used for players where you know... they're there to be bought and sold. and obviously no team can afford to carry players or should keep players that aren't good enough that would be bad. i've said multiple times i'd dropkick players to the antarctic 5th division when the team is playing like crap.
but idk if it's just because i could get emotionally attached to a piece of dust but the way some fans approach players is just so distant to me???? sometimes it feels as though the aim is more to just criticise and nitpick rather than support and cheer on (eg royal or ryan). and it's frustrating as hell to have a player go out there that isn't very good, I'm not saying fans have to be super positive and like every player all the time, I don't myself. but even players like hugo who have genuinely earned a shit ton of good will and love from being here for over a decade are seeing none of it. not that we shouldn't say he's past his prime or should be dropped but fans are rewriting his legacy at the club or just slagging him off in ways that are genuinely so mean you'd think he played for arsenal. like there's just no sadness about him coming to the end.
and especially when your team is shite it's more fun to root for an outside player's success. i get that when your team is bad you feel less connected to the team and its players but i think if you then choose to root for someone, literally anyone, in that squad you're going to have a better time. shit I've been saying ryan redemption season since 2019, i had the Sissoko Goal Campaign, my URL is bloody KWP. like as a fan you don't need to be as clinical and cutthroat as the board of a football club you can actually inject some love and passion and emotional connection into your football watching experience
wait no the better example is tripps having his dogshite season and i was obviously critical of his performances and shit but it was always coming from a place of love and shit and i was so upset when he left you wouldn't believe. like you can literally have the best of both worlds i wish people would embrace that

Gorillaz: Humanz
Tumblr media
SHere it is, the comeback tour! I was so excited for this album, I sucked all the singles that came out before I could download the album. This album basically reminded me of the reasons I love Gorillaz. All of them. One particular reason a little too well...
Okay, let's get the elephant out of the room. This album is a bit controversial among the community for playing a little too hard to one of Gorillaz' strengths: showcasing cool artists. There are more than a few tracks where Damon doesn't even show up. Hell, my favorite track doesn't even have it on him. Me, I honestly don't care about that as long as I get to hear good music but for the rest of you die hard Gorillaz fans? Just think of this as a compilation album like NOW That's What I Call Alternative/Indie Hip-Hop/R&B/Electronica/Pop.
See? Rolls off the tongue. Now let's get started.
1. Intro: I Switched My Robot Off
Nice. Real ominous. Gorillaz really know how to build up a presentation. Feels like you're walking through the doors of the doors to the Shrine of the Silver Monkey. Anybody remember Legends of the Hidden Temple? Were there doors on that stage? Anyway, awesome.
10/10
2. Ascension
Holy hell, Vince really knocks it out of the park on this one. Different beat, nice flow, social commentary...He was not fucking around on this track. Damon's barely on the track but Vince makes up for it with his existential rhymes and chorus back-up. Man, Gorillaz has gotta take advantage of gospel more often.
9/10
3. Strobelite
That didn't take long, did it? Anyway, this is my favorite song on the album. Peven has an incredible voice, the music psychically compels you to dance and...that's it. Sometimes, well usually with me, you just need to go with Simple Yet Awesome. Have a good voice and a good beat. This song has both and I'm pretty sure that one day, a scientist will hear this song and will be inspired by it to cure diabetes.
100/10
4. Saturn Barz
Ah, the lead single from the album. Remember the 360 house, everyone? Yeah, you remember. Glad to have Gorillaz welcome back Reggae into their line-up with Popcaan manning the helms. He and Damon tag-team the eardrums with the power of dread as the instrumentation makes you feel like you're in a haunted house. Welcome back, guys.
25/10
5. Momentz
WELCOME BACK, GUYS! De La Soul returns to say some real shit about time and how you should, respect and stuff. Seriously, awesome track. Kicks so much ass and you can even dance to it as you wonder if this MOMENT will be one of the last times when you feel really happy. Nice...
9/10
6. Interlude: The Non-Conformist Oath
Hey, Steve Martin! I like to imagine a bunch of assholes listening to this and...just not getting it. Not us though. We get it. We're smart. Smarter than those guys...
10/10
7. Submission
This song had to grow on me but years after I got the album and after I learned to appreciate Danny Brown a little more like all humans should, this song became one of my favorites off the album. Don't worry Kelela, he doesn't carry the whole song. Her voice is so beautiful that it can calm a charging rhino or a coked-up Connor McGregor. These make the song a lot classier than it had any right being.
90/10
8. Charger
She's beauty, she's Grace...she's also Jones. Man, I haven't heard from this woman since Corporate Cannibal and she has clearly been keeping up practice. God, how can a woman's laughter both scare and arouse me? Damon's no slouch on this track either, singing about the monster that keeps us all tethered: the charger. I kid, I kid. Hey, did Damon really get a boner on stage when he sung this or are you guys messing with me? Message me if you know.
9/10
9. Interlude: Elevator Going Up
On a recent trip, I tried to go up the elevator but it was card-activated so a desk lady had to help me. That's it.
8/10
10. Andromeda
Damon has to do the heavy lifting here and his muscles have not completely wasted away from lack of use. He tells us to take in our heart and you know what? I did. I took this song directly in my heart...and my playlist.
50/10
11. Busted And Blue
Yeah, this song is a bummer. A good bummer. It's Broken's younger brother who joined the army to make his parents proud after he couldn't get into university like his older brother who managed to form a separate family with his squad and began to think that maybe he was good enough after all before his squad gets bombed and, as he lies legless dying painfully on the ground, a blue butterfly land directly on his outstretched busted hand...
Directed by Mervyn LeRoy
10/10
12. Interlude: Talk Radio
You ever wonder how we get voices in machines? I know you think it's a complicated process but I know a dude who picked up the radio in his electric fan once. Think about it.
8/10
13. Carnival
Again, this song had to grow on me but one day, while I was thinking about Gamzee for a godforsaken reason, I thought "Geez, he talks about the Dark Carnival and the Dark Carnival isn't even some of ICP's best days. What's a good song about a carnival?" Anyway, Anthony can spin a person's mind and mind around just by singing. He's wild.
80/10
14. Let Me Out
Hey, wouldn't it be funny if Mavis was Vince's mother? She's not but that would be funny as well as cool. Her and Pusha T bang on the walls of this track as they rant about the politics at the time of this song. Yeah, they're talking about Trump. That car horn can't protect you forever, you orange bastard.
9/10
15. Interlude: Penthouse
Dear Penthouse: Hi. Does anyone check in on you, just you? I'm here to say I think you're important and you provide a necessary outlet for men to brag about being perverts. At least before the Youtube comment section existed.
Thanks for everything,
mytastessuck
8/10
16. Sex Murder Party
Ooooo, this track puts me in a funky mood. Like, there's a part but there's sex there...and MURDER. So you know it's an awesome party. Kick-ass, right? I know it's kick-ass. Keep dancing, people.
11/10
17. She's My Collar
Pretty sexy song. Gotta love people vauging about being used in a song. That's why we love Offspring, that's why we love Damon on his knees onstage. Hey, there was a post that said Noodle wrote this song about her girlfriend. That was an excellent post. Well done.
9/10
18. Interlude: The Elephant
I SAID GET OUT OF HERE, YOU BASTARD!
8/10
19. Hallelujah Money
Ah, the technical first single. Remember when they said that they weren't going to put this song on the album? Anyway, this is exactly the song we needed after The Incident occurred. Benjamin manages to calm down an entire populace while Damon just fearfully wonders what our future will be like...and he's in the UK. This song is one long terrifying lullaby to an entire country...until the end, anyway.
75/10
20. We Got The Power
A great way to remind listeners that no matter what's happening, no matter who's in charge, we have the power change everything. An excellent message for people who were still recovering from The Incident.
10/10
21. Interlude: New World
Okay, the bonus tracks. Should be nothing special here, right? Just some B-sides and I've never shown favoritism towards B-sides, right?
8/10
22. The Apprentice
A nice song from the same Rag n' Bone Man who brought us "Human". Zebra manages to lay down some nice rhymes as Ray BLK backs them both up with the force of her voice. These guys should form a team with how well they work together. Oh, they should make a virtual band! All they need to do is find an artist...
9/10
23. Halfway To The Halfway House
A very nice song if a bit overshadowed by the others on the album. Still, Peven can't be beat when it comes to crooning and he raises a song from a solid C to a B.
8/10
24. Out of Body
This song had to grow on me also but when it did...lord, this song is weird. Hypnotic suggestions, telephone tones, the song starts then Zebra jumps in to help then who is this person?! Why are people applauding?! Who are you people?! Why are there so many crows gathering outside my house?!
60/10
25. Ticker Tape
Well well well, look who's back. Damon returns with his old friend Kali to join the accuser of the vain Carly Simon to beg us to stay on the album. Sorry Damon, but I got places to do and people to go. There's nothing you can do to convince me to stick around after how long this album already is.
9/10
26. Circle of Friendz
Huh. Seems like a riot is going on. Weird for Gorillaz to get this real. What, this guy is just going to keep saying Circle of Friendz again and again? Is this supposed to affect me? Get real. It'll take a lot more than a nice voice and implications to...
To...
...
...Maybe I should listen to the album again.
11/10
Album score: 25/10
Damn, that took a while. Shouldn't be the case next week when we cover The Now Now. See you then!

Hi! So, this may be a bit of a weird question and seem a bit childish but wth why not. So, i'm 22 and i've never had sex. I've had girlfriends and we've done stuff, but for one reason or another it just never got to that. I know that age and sex shouldn't be related things in this prespective but (1/2)
when your friends are all in long-term relationships, when our society revolves so much around sex, it's hard not to feel shitty when thinking about the subject, to not feel like there's something wrong with you and that nobody will ever want you like that, that somehow you're being left behind. Any advice? I hope this doesn't make me seem like a terrible person lol (2/2)
It doesn’t make you seem like a terrible person at all. Its perfectly normal to have those doubts and insecurities, MORE SO in our society that pressures you to have, like, experience in sex, whatever the hell that means.
I don’t know what I can say that will feel like ‘this will work’ but I’ll try my best. One thing that I remember happening a lot was, for example, in nights out when people started playing games of like Never Have I Ever which inevitably end with sex questions. Me? I was the dumb fuck who went ‘NEVER HAVE I EVER BRUSHED MY TEETH’, ‘NEVER HAVE I EVER TOUCHED A HORSE’ and people were like ‘what the fuck ana what’s the point’ and I would just ‘drink up, I just wanna see you plastered’. Instead of being the person that kind of tried to remind people that I never had sex contrary to them, I was going sort of the other way around. Reminding them that maybe everyone around them wasn’t solely focused on sex as a priority, nor did their personalities or identities relied on it, so like, maybe ease a little on the games.
Also, if you can, surround yourself with more positive people. That is, IF you feel the people around you might be reinforcing these negative thoughts, maybe because they say stupid shit like ‘you’re a prude’ (something people love saying for no reason). I remember at one point the ‘games that are played solely for people to spit out their sexual experiences’ suddenly transformed into ‘people sharing their experiences in a constructive way’ to a point where we’d be having conversations about sex with gay men, lesbians, women who had sex with like 3 different guys a week, people who were virgins, people who were in a relationship for very long, etc. And it was very constructive and there was never any judgement. Surrounding yourself with caring people who are open minded and enjoy listening as much as they enjoy speaking is a very positive experience, and I assure you it will make you feel included. And I think, in my case, at a certain point it also taught me to stand up further down the road whenever some douchebag tried to play smart.
Society is a dick in this respect. I genuinely don’t know where this idea that it’s not normal for people to be a virgin in their mid 20s came from because from my experience it’s so, so normal. But there is a pressure, yeah. In some respects, I think it’s even bigger on men than on women, but for entirely different reasons and I suppose it depends on the environment. College I believe can be very toxic on this mindset, because it can be an absolute sausage fest and sometimes it needs a lot of boundaries to like, chill a little.
And I know comparing ourselves to others is very difficult NOT to do. It’s honestly something that takes time and we have to find ways of overcoming and learn new tools to stop ourselves from doing it. You have to shift the focus to yourself. There is NOTHING wrong with you. No matter what you think the issue is. ‘Oh you’re picky’ someone might say---that’s not... bad. That’s another way of saying ‘you have very well established goals and a very secure sense of basically what you want in a partner and that partner hasn’t showed up yet’. I hate using the word picky because of that. You’re not behind anything, I promise you. People take their time for everything, but it’s a complicated process to accept that when society puts a damn time table on nearly everything. But you’re not behind, you’re living your life and you’re doing it at your own rhythm.
Also, when people are in long term relationships while our last up to a year, we have to acknowledge those are two very different cases to compare. I say this as a person who made that mistake. I remember once playing never have i ever and everyone was like ‘i had sex in a public bathroom!!!’ and shit like that and I was the only one who hadn’t done any of those things. I kept joking saying ‘exCUSe me if I enjoy the comfort of a bed!!!!’ then one of the guys turned to me and said ‘but all these weird experiences I’m sharing, they were the result of a 5 year long relationship, it’s not something you just... do, most of the times. I did because at that point, we had enough trust to try it out’. At that point, my longest relationship was 6 months and it really, really put me in perspective. Now that I’ve been in a 3 year long relationship, I finally understand what he meant. It’s not even a matter of time takes you there, it’s a matter of having enough trust with the person, and when that person is around, it might take 3 months, 1 month, 1 day, 1 year to go right to the fucking!!!! Doesn’t matter at all. People are different and communication is key. it’s interesting because one thing that happened to me in my current relationship as well as my last was that we were both on different rhythms. And there was a time when we though, yeah babey get nakey, but then nothing happened not because we were rushing, but because we weren’t synchronized. And it turned out, a few more weeks were needed. And because these were both guys, they were feeling that pressure of ‘I’m a man, this should be easy for me’ but sometimes it isn’t. You have to let your mind settle, and your partner’s duty is to support you and say ‘it’s alright, I’m here when you’re ready, let’s chug down some pudding in the meantime’ or something...
And if people try to find reasons for virginity in this day and age just.. Bruh, it just didn’t happen. Like, I feel like now I’m saying something not to you but a wider audience lmao but: sometimes it just doesn’t happen. It just doesn’t. There’s no mysterious reason, no psychological explanation, no astrological projection like, no Jupiter was not on the right house or whatever, it just didn’t happen. It just didn’t get there.
It’s a process. I mean, me saying over and over ‘there’s nothing wrong with you!!!!!’ might come out as shallow, or just not mean anything to you. Because it comes from within. It’s how you feel. So I insist on this: it’s a process, no matter how many times I say it. Shift the focus to yourself. Take the chance to look at what you haven’t experienced yet to understand what you would like to experience. Try to absorb the positive side of this sex-driven society. Listen to others and learn the lesson from that. To quote a very good friend of mine, ‘I learned with other people’s mistakes’ lmao but what I mean is a mantra I have in my life that’s helped me a lot in certain identity crisis: eliminate what I don’t want. And hey, I’m saying this and maybe you’re over there reading and thinking ‘done that already’, and if that’s the case, good!!!!! But be kind to yourself as well! Radiate the energy you want to feel around you! Tell yourself every day: there is nothing wrong with me. There are so, so many people out there like me, and none of us are weird or out of the norm, we’re just who we are.
If you want it to hapen, it will happen. Be kind to yourself, treat yourself the way you deserve and demand that from others. Sharpen your senses when you’re out there looking for the one, the ones or maybe even nobody in particular. Be safe and nurture what little confidence you find inside yourself. Transform your insecurity. If you want to get your mind off the subject, find activities you enjoy, like a hobby or whatever pleases you, or learn something new--just something that can keep you busy in the long term (again, I say this as someone with a tendency to like.. obsess over minor stuff)
So like this is very vague, I know. And I hope it does help in one way or another. You’re a wonderful person anon, this society is tailored to shitty ideals and a lot of people fall prey to it. We really, REALLY need to normalize the idea of not being in a relationship in your twenties, not having had sex, not being engaging in sex... We really need to normalize all of that because it is normal, it’s so normal that I kind of felt at one point that I was being lied to, you know. Because I’ve met way more people that don’t fit the standards than the opposite. So like, whatever this society is dictating, that’s what’s not normal.
I think you’re already halfway there anyway, because it seems to me you acknowledge these issues with a clear conscience. It’s only a matter of acceptance, and that’s the hard work. that’s why I insist: be kind to yourself!! And remember I am rooting for your success and for you to get what you want, anon. Live your life the way you want to, practice good and tell yourself.I’m a cool ass human being. And oh god I hope this helped in some way!! ❤❤

Conversation
(Titanic special. If The UBs were on the Titanic and were musicians)
*The Titanic has struck an iceberg and is sinking. A group of alien musicians consider their options*
Blade (bandleader): Right lads, gather round. It's not looking favorable. I've checked the lifeboat situation, and it's not good. There seems to be an emphasis on women and children.
Assembly (violin) [Quincy]: Surely, musicians get some sort of consideration, it's hard to master a violin, it's easy to make a child. Did you tell them of our achievements, our reputation.
Blade: Times are changing Assembly, it's the twentieth century, children are regarded with great affection these days.
Assembly [Quincy]: I have every respect for children. The young man who scrambles up my chimney and cleans it every year is most agreeable, but he is dispensable.
Sol (violin): That can't be very pleasant for the child.
Assembly [Quincy]: He doesn't mind, it's good honest toil. Anyway, it affords him the chance of visiting his late brother's remains, who believe me, was not a hard act to follow.
Assembly [Owen]: Okay, people are getting sentimental about children, but did you say women as well?
Blade: Women are important. They raise our children, they run the household, they are a great comfort in general.
Assembly [Owen]: Yes, they are splendid to look at and occasionally engage in lightweight banter, but can they do justice to the great composers?
Symbiont (clarinet): I can.
Assembly [Quincy]: You can, but think of it, there will be lifeboats full of women and children lacking the ability to play the most basic sea shanty. How can one keep the spirit alive without music?
Sol: I have a wife and 2 children who I am quite fond of. I would like them on the lifeboat. Don't think sea shanties would go down a storm, pardon the pun, in the present situation. Also Symbiont, shouldn't you head towards the lifeboats?
Symbiont: Gosh, I suppose I should. Well, I guess this is good bye. *leaves*
Blade: That's a shame. Still no need to get too downhearted, we can play and retain our dignity amid the chaos.
Assembly [Onyx]: We are classical musicians, and you want us to start busking. Why don't we find us a dancing monkey to play along to. That should entertain the great unwashed, soon to be washed in icy waters.
Blade: Let's not bicker, let's leave a small and lasting legacy and be remembered as men who done our profession proud. That piece we wrote for the voyage, let's try that.
Assembly [Onyx]: I'm not sliding slowly into the water playing FORTRESS OF THE SEA. I think we should go and make our case as distinguished musicians at the lifeboats. Those in charge can't all be immune to culture.
Blade: It's pointless. I've already asked. It's women, children, the old, the disabled, medics, and God knows what else.
Assembly [Onyx]: The more useless you are, the higher the priority. How the human race will survive with that logic is beyond me.
Sol: Blade is right, Assembly. Let's play and enjoy our last moments doing what we do best.
Assembly [Owen, Onyx, and Quincy]: Okay.
Blade: That's the spirit.
Dusk (violin): I agree.
Necro (cello): I don't. I am, thanks to a woman, going to take my leave of you. It was my mother who nagged me to take up the cello, Assembly. Or in this situation, my new raft. Good bye and good luck. *leaves*
Blade: Not to worry. Three violins and I will accompany you on the piano if we can push it here from the grand ballroom.
Assembly [Owen and Quincy]: A piano floats and we can bring our violins, and show up all those non musical lifeboats. Come on chaps, let's get that piano.
Blade: Let's not be so undignified, let's just play.
Assembly [Onyx]: Let's not be so dead, and get that damned piano. *leaves with Sol and Dusk*
Blade: Suppose, I will try locate a monkey and see if he fancies dancing a jig or two.
