A/N: hello anon! I’m sorry this is kinda short, but I’ve never been camping myself. I did a little research & learning about it was fun:] thank you so much for the request! I love writing romantic fics, but I think I enjoyed this even more.
It Camp Get Better Than This
Platonic Lost Boys x Gender Neutral Reader
You David Marko Dwayne Paul
————————————————————————
You’re my best friend Y/N-
Hey!
You’re one of my best friends Y/N, you’re supposed to deal with second hand embarrassment!
Watching Marko & David try to set up their tent had been funny for the first 10 minutes, but now that they’ve reached the 45 minute mark it was more pathetic. I had left no stone unturned searching the internet for 100% black out tents, desperate to have a camping trip with my friends. Eventually I managed to find someone online, willing to custom make 2 of them for a steep price. But it’ll be worth it to share something I love with them for probably the first time in decades.
After setting up my tent, a regular one a friend gifted to me years ago, I offered to help the boys set up their tents. Of course, they all insisted minus Paul that they knew exactly what they were doing. Dwayne caved after 20 minutes, but the other two nocturnal know-it-alls were still going strong.
Besides, there’s nothing to be embarrassed about, because we’re doing it fine! Almost done.
The tent collapses once again as I stifle a laugh, a courtesy Paul and Dwayne didn’t seem to have. Paul was literally rolling on the ground laughing, and i took my chance to assemble the tent when Marko and David got up to yell at him.
Hours passed as we joked around, David sharing stories of his past life as a gunslinger in the Wild West. His stories were fascinating, my enthrallment only breaking briefly to chuckle at Dwayne’s remarks.
So you remember how to ride a horse but Y/N had to light the fire? Real impressive memory Dave.
The stories continue until 4 am, when everyone decided to head to sleep, me more so because of my heavy eyelids than the looming sunrise that would approach soon.
We all said our good mornings as we shuffled to our tents, Dwayne making me promise I’d teach him how to identify the different species of plants around our camp the next night. I agreed, and after a strange look and a barely audible nerds from Paul, the 4 boys disappeared into their tents. I stayed up a little longer, putting out our fire and hanging our my food from the trees to protect it from wild animals. When my head finally hit my pillow, I was out like a light.

Hey hey I'm feeling things rn so listen to me like I am holding you on the shoulders and staring at your eyes lovingly
If you wish you could draw. Start drawing
Listen listen listen, yknow the quote, "The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago, the second best time is today" that. So absolutely applies to art
You wont get good if you never try. You'll "only be able to draw a stickfigure" if you never let yourself improve. To be good you have to be bad first, and you have to accept that
Sure some 12yr or something can draw realistic portraits with a bunch of colored pencils but who cares! Dont compare yourself to others, compare yourself to how you were
Art is SO different for every single person, some are really good at the very start, some could only draw a stickfigure, some had their beginnings by tracing anime characters, some always change their artstyle, some always keep it the same, some improve fast and some improve slow, some can draw people, some can only draw backgrounds, some can draw bouncy cartoons and some can draw so realistic you'll think you're staring at a photo. It's all different, because people are different, your experience and how you draw and improve is entirely your own, what you enjoy drawing depends on you. What style you have is entirely you
I've been drawing "my whole life", in first grade I'd be drawing me and the adventures of my pet flying unicorn, then I was drawing ponies, then I was copying art that I saw online to the best of my ability, I very largely consider 2017-2018 to be the point when I really started to try and draw, to be better, it's when I made so much improvement, and guess what I think all my art from that time is shit, because I'm still improving, and I'll never stop improving, because art never stops growing, it's like a plant or something idk cool metaphor, take care of it and itll grow so big or so beautiful and itll always be whatever you want it to be even if it has to take years
Like. It's only very recently where I've reached a point where I consider my art to have nice anatomy. You have to start drawing now so you can start getting better. As long as you keep letting yourself only draw stickfigures, as long you never try and do more, as long as you wish you could draw and do nothing, you'll never be able to draw more than a stickfigure. Dont spend years yearning wishing you could draw and instead spend those years drawing. Art very often is not fast, if you want a tree you have to plant the seed first, you have to wait and let it grow
