Would you rather: start your current project from scratch or do a soft reboot focusing on a different character?

I would pick soft reboot! I would love to do a story told fully from the perspective of the staff. The west wing is one of my favourite tv shows so it would be like that - the real story behind a famous institution etc.

I really enjoyed the chapter on Sarah and Marcus and what started as a look behind the scenes, evolved into one about their relationship. So I think it would be cool to flesh that out with a cast of characters of different areas of the household - kitchen, front of house, administrative, leadership, military etc.

Are any of your royals considered fashion or style icons?

Margaret is going to be my lovely style icon! Shes been pretty safe until now but she has always loved fashion, clothes and make up. I'm looking forward to experimenting with her looks!

Only three? That's tough! In no particular order:

Zola from @thegrimalldis. While I love Chris/Emi, I really like the character of Zola and the story that she went on with her music and her music management, then forming a cosmetics company. I love stories where people regain or discover their power. I also love that while she has a whole other life with marriage and a son, that she did gets her ending with Chris that doesn't take away from his marriage with Emi.

Eleanor from @trentonsimblr. I will always love Eleanor even when I don't agree with her recent actions!! She has her flaws but also her great qualities that make her a balanced character.

Vivi from @armoricaroyalty. This might be biased as I've been fortunate to have her in my story, but I generally love a fish out of water story - following her journey into becoming a senior royal, and struggles that she now faces with Jacques, and the rest of the family just makes me want to root for her!

Well I'm about to post in the next week or so something I'm really proud of...... but in the mean time I'm generally really proud of the evolution of Sarah and Marcus' relationship in the last chapter. I challenged myself to do the "enemies to lovers' thing and I really happy with how it turned out particularly when they go to Haskos and end up in bed together lol Marcus went from a totally hated character with people saying he needed to resign at once to I think at least tolerance 😂

18. Choose a song that reminds you of your story

Oh that's hard for a whole story! But Margaret is definitely feeling "Death by a thousand cuts" right about now 🥺

25. What inspirations have you drawn on for your story?

The Crown/UK royals are a big inspiration. My Margaret is obviously heavily inspired by the real life Princess Margaret and Peter Townsend. My monarchy set up is very similar too - as its what I'm most familiar with.

I've started reading American Royals (on @lrsimmer recommendation thank you!) and an upcoming storyline is definitely inspired by that!

27. What genres would you describe your story as?

I would say romance/drama. So much focus is on their relationships - Romantic and familial - rather than world drama. I aim for being like prestige shows like the crown but 🤷‍♀️

Which of your characters is the most introverted, and which one is most extroverted? Do they/would they get along?

Hello!

I would say Charles is probably the most extroverted? He loves parties and has a lot of friends. He finds the interacting with people part of his royal duties easy and I think that if he is hitting on married women, being an extrovert helps that!

As for the introvert..... maybe Robert? His happy place would be solitude out in the country somewhere. With Alex of course 😉. He does his Royal duties and enjoys them, but finds it more exhausting than his siblings, having to put himself out there, everyone wanting something from him.

Charles and Robert generally get on pretty well as adults but it was a journey to get there I think. Robert disapproves a lot of Charles' choices in life and was often over shadowed by him as a child. But he has come to accept him and try to support him as much as he can, while being glad that their roles aren't reversed. He's one of the people that knows Charles best.

How are children named in your world? Are there any tradtions? When is the name announced to others?

Hello! 🌷

For heirs they often go with names of Kings that have come before, at the very least as one of the middle names. For example, Eddie is named for two prior King Edwards, so he will eventually become King Edward III. Then naming after family is quite a strong tradition but not a rule. Eddies middle names come from his grandfather and uncle.

For everyone else, the family name connection is strong for middle names but for first names, its whatever the parents think is nice. For those closer to the King in the line of sucession, it is courtesy for them to let him know before its announced.

The names are usually announced a few days after the birth. This allows the right family members to be told before the public and for the palace staff to get their shit together too for a lovely announcement

When, if at all, are children expected to leave home in your setting?

Hello! 🌸

Children up until now, are pretty much expected to stay at home until they marry. But its not a hard an fast rule and its slowly changing.

For example, Margaret and Robert both live at Norrington Palace, not with their parents at Goldsborough Palace. Its a royal residence so they aren't exactly striking out on their own, but there they have a bit more freedom and still reside in the safety of Royal security! And George can still have his eye on them.

So its taken me while to find the time to sift through - so here is what I have come up with:
