[PT-BR] Depois de aproveitar uma tarde de sol no Jack Point and Biggs Park, paramos no meio do caminho para tomar uma cerveja na Wolf Brewing.

A gente provou duas cervejas sazonais e uma de linha. As primeiras foram a Game 8, uma Dry Hopped Pale Ale com aromas e sabores de pinho e cítrico, com alto drinkability; e a Clippers 72 Holst, uma Marzen-Oktoberfest maltada com leve amargor herbal. Por último, a Porter, que estava um pouco mais tostada do que eu esperava, mas ainda assim, estava boa.

O Wolf Den, como eles chamam o tap room, tem um clima meio pub com uma ótima seleção de música e tem espaço kids bem legal.

We grabbed two limited releases beers and one mainline beer. The first were Game 8, a Dry Hopped Pale Ale with aromas and flavors of pine and citrus, with high drinkability; and Clippers 72 Holst, a malty Marzen-Oktoberfest with a light herbal bitterness. Lastly, the Porter, which was a little toastier than I expected, but still good.

The Wolf Den has a pub feeling with a great music selection and a really cool kids' area.

[PT-BR] um brinde à John Mitchell na Smugglers Trail. Nós íamos nessa cervejaria só pra tomar a Wedgehead Kölsch (foto 2). Não se vê muita opção desse estilo e essa é um ótimo exemplar. Ela é fresca e delicada com um toque de lúpulo. Uma das melhores, senão a melhor, que já tomei por aqui. Mas chegando lá, tive a oportunidade de tomar a John Mitchell Signature Cascadian Dark Ale. Em 6 de julho de 1982, John Mitchell serviu a primeira cerveja artesanal do Canadá. Para comemorar os 40 anos desse acontecimento, a faculdade KPU se juntou com a cervejaria Russell e lançou essa deliciosa cerveja. Ela tem sabores equilibrados entre cítrico e caramelo e tostado e teve os sabores realçados conforme foi esquentando. A cerveja, que tem edição limitada, está disponível em várias cervejarias e vale a pena provar pelo sabor, pela história e pela homenagem. You don't see many breweries doing this style and this is a great example. One of the best, if not the best, I've had around here. But getting there I had the opportunity to drink the John Mitchell Signature Cascadian Dark Ale. On July 6, 1982, John Mitchell served Canada's first craft beer. To celebrate the 40th anniversary of this event, KPU and Russell Brewery launched this delicious beer. This beer has balanced flavors between citrus and caramel and toast and had the flavors enhanced as it heated up. The beer is available at several breweries and is worth tasting for its taste, history and homage. [PT-BR] “Good times” é o lema da Field House e foi exatamente isso que tivemos numa manhã ensolarada de domingo no pátio do brewpub. Localizado em uma charmosa vila com cara de antiga no centro de Chilliwack, essa é a segunda unidade da Field House (a primeira fica em Abbotsford. Já escrevi sobre ela, veja na #BCbeerMoB 😉). Apesar de terem uma estética diferente, as duas são bem aconchegantes, receptivas, têm boas cervejas e boas comidas. No taplist tem cervejas produzidas nas duas unidades. Eu prefiro provar as produzidas ali mesmo (a West Coast IPA e a Juicy Pale Ale são ótimas pedidas). Para acompanhar, deliciosa e tostadinha pizza Three Cheese com molho bechamel, muçarela, gouda e grana padano. [EN] “Good times” is @fieldhousebrewing ‘s slogan. That's exactly what we had on a sunny Sunday morning in the brewpub's patio. Located in a charming old village in downtown Chilliwack, this is Field House's second unit (the first is in Abbotsford. I already wrote about it, check it out on #BCbeerMoB 😉). They have a different aesthetic but both are very welcoming, cozy and have good beers and good food. The taplist has beers produced in both units. I prefer to taste the ones produced right there (West Coast IPA and Juicy Pale Ale are great options). [PT-BR] tomando uma cerveja na cervejaria mais tranquila que eu já fui. Se você quer refúgio perto da cidade, Locality é o lugar. A cervejaria tem um ótimo pátio ao redor do celeiro/cervejaria. Nós sentamos em um lugar que tinha vista para o laguinho e canto dos pássaros, dá pra sentir a calmaria, né? Pra chegar lá tem um escorregador, mas preferi ir pela escada mesmo, não estava no clima de testar minhas habilidades equilibristas no Tobogã do Silvio Santos. Eu provei a Black Tea Lager Black Lagoon, a English Pale City Limits, a Amber IPA Spring Robin e a Blackberry Blueberry Sour Haywire. Felipe pegou a Peach Lemonade Gose Whimsical. Eles cultivam seus próprios ingredientes, malteiam seu próprio grão e processam seu próprio lúpulo (também frutas, nozes e mel). É uma cervejaria do campo ao vidro. E por último, mas não menos importante, a cervejeira chefe é uma mulher. [EN] having some beer at the most peaceful brewery I've ever been to. If you want a getaway close to the city, @localitybrewing is the place to go. The brewery has a great patio around the beer barn. We took a spot overlooking the pond and the birdsong make this the most peaceful place to have a beer. I know I've said this before, but it's true. I sampled the Black Tea Lager Black Lagoon, the English Pale City Limits, the Amber IPA Spring Robin and the Blackberry Blueberry Sour Haywire. And Felipe took the Peach Lemonade Gose Whimsical. They grow their own ingredients, malt their own grain and process their own hops (also fruit, nuts and honey). It’s a brewery from field to glass. Its patio season! The sun is shining but the temperature isn’t too warm yet. A great moment to get some fresh beer release from @temporalbeer The Liminal Space is a blend of Munichwine aged in Buffalo Trace bourbon and Brazilian amburana barrels. It came from Brazil, coopered by @dornashavana and it’s the only one of its kind in Canada. In Brazil, we usually use this kind of barrel for cachaça but I have to say using this barrel for beer is even more interesting. The other beer is the Vanilla Gesha Horizon, an unblended Imperial Stout aged in an Austin Nichol's 12yr barrel. Conditioned on Mexican vanilla beans and Mexican Gesha coffee beans from @prototypecoffee.ca Both beers are part of Temporal Void Series, an exploration of the extremely strong end of barrel-aged beers. [PT-BR] Sooke Brewing é uma cervejaria premiada localizada na pequena cidade de mesmo nome. Assim como a cervejaria, a Vienna Lager, que tem sabor marcante de casca de pão, também é premiada. Já a Belgian Blond Ale é uma combinação perfeita da levedura belga com os lúpulos europeus, que conferem sabores e aromas florais e herbais. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Do lado de fora, a entrada com um grande tronco de árvore e pilares de pedra é imponente e do lado de dentro, mais um tronco que foi transformado em um charmoso balcão, que divide o salão da sala de brassagem. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Uma vez na cidade, fomos caminhar no Sooke Potholes Provincial Park, estava lindo coberto de neve, mas espero voltar no verão para nadar nas piscinas naturais. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ [EN] @sookebrewing is an award-winning brewery located in the small town of the same name. As well as the brewery, Vienna Lager, which has a striking bread crust flavor, is also awarded. Belgian Blond Ale is a perfect combination of Belgian yeast and European hops, which provide floral and herbal flavors and aromas. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ On the outside, the entrance with a large tree trunk and stone pillars is imposing and on the inside, another trunk that has been transformed into a charming balcony, which divides the taproom from the brewhouse. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Once in the city we went for a walk in the Sooke Potholes Provincial Park. [PT-BR] A Whistle Buoy está localizada no coração de Victoria e apesar de estar dentro do histórico Market Square, a cervejaria é super nova, ela abriu no verão de 2019. O acolhedor tap room é uma mistura dos climas costeiro de Vancouver Island e urbano do centro da capital de BC. Parte da decoração é feita com material de origem local e reciclado. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Os lotes das cervejas são pequenos: 800 litros por receita. Mas a cerveja carro-chefe (e a melhor!) Coastality Pale Ale tá quase sempre por lá. Essa American Pale Ale é feita com dry hop de Citra e Mosaic e tem os sabores e aromas cítricos certeiros. Outro destaque é a Fernwood Coffee Stout, servida com nitrogênio, ela é aveludada, saborosa e linda com aquele efeito cascada. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Já disse que o tap room é acolhedor, mas repito, porque nos fez querer ficar mais e tomar mais cervejas. Nós ainda provamos a Fashionably Late Festbier, Western Clash IPA, Stone Cold IPA e Hidden Gem Hazy IPA. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ [EN] @whistlebuoybrewing is located in the heart of Victoria and despite being inside the historic Market Square, the brewery is super new, it was opened in the summer of 2019. The cozy tap room is a blend of the coastal vibe of Vancouver Island and the urban style of downtown from the capital of BC. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The batches of beers are small: 800 liters per recipe. The flagship beer Coastality Pale Ale is the best! This American Pale Ale is made with dry hop Citra and Mosaic and has the right citrus flavors and aromas. [PT-BR] algumas cervejas em boa companhia na colorida e psicodélica Electric Bicycle. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Peguei um flight com a Fractals Saison I, Tezcatzontecatl's Choice Mexican IPA, Nice Hat Amber Ale e Black Lotus Dark Lager, que foram servidas nessa ordem. E foi exatamente nessa ordem da primeira para a última, que eu fui gostando mais das cervejas: comecei pela Saison com alto drinkability, depois pela IPA refrescante, passando pela Amber Ale com sabores de malte caramelo e mel e finalizei com a melhor do flight: a Dark Lager com um toque torrado. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ O clima psicodélico está desde a colorida arte da fachada até o interior do tap room. E a trilha sonora foi um ponto positivo. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ [EN] about some beers in good company at the colorful and psychedelic @electricbicyclebrewing. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I sampled a flight with Fractals Saison I, Tezcatzontecatl's Choice Mexican IPA, Nice Hat Amber Ale, and Black Lotus Dark Lager. I started with the high drinkability Saison, then drank the refreshing IPA, after got the Amber Ale with caramel malt and honey flavors and ended well with the Dark Lager with a roasted touch. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The psychedelic atmosphere is in the colorful painting outside the building and also inside the tap room. Ontem, além do solzinho aparecer depois de alguns dias nublados, também demos a sorte de o tasting room estar tranquilo. Gosto de sair assim despretensiosamente, sem compromisso nem hora e aproveitar o lugar. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ A Helles Chop Wood Carry Lager é extremamente equilibrada como pede o estilo. Tem notas dos grãos, que lembram biscoito e dos lúpulos Hallertau Blanc, que remete à uva branca e Hallertau Mittlefruh, que dá notas florais. A Go Easy é uma Dry Hopped Pale Ale com Citra e Mosaic com aveia e trigo, que dão corpo à cerveja. E a Only Flans é uma deliciosa Vanilla Caramel Stout (que mais me lembrou uma Porter) com baunilha, caramelo e lactose com todos esses aromas e sabores evidentes. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Localizado em North Van, o tasting room tem um clima agradável com uma boa playlist de folk e atendimento simpático. A cervejaria foi criada por pai e filho, daqueles predestinados, já que o sobrenome deles é o próprio nome do local: Beere. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ [EN] we had tried to go to @beerebrewingco a few times, but there was always a waitlist. Yesterday the sun appearing after a few cloudy days and we were also lucky that the tasting room had seats available. I like to go out unpretentiously, without commitment and enjoy the place. That's exactly what happened. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The Helles Chop Wood Carry Lager is extremely balanced as the style should be. It has grain notes, reminiscent of biscuits, white grapes from Hallertau Blanc hops and floral notes from Hallertau Mittlefruh hops. Go Easy is a Dry Hopped Pale Ale with Citra and Mosaic hops and oats and wheat, which give the beer its body. Localizada em Abbotsford, a Field House tem um clima de cabana, atendimento atencioso, cervejas ótimas e comidas afetivas como os dois deliciosos pratos que pedimos: o Pesto Mac & Cheese (macarrão com queijo gruyere, parmesão, tomate cereja e pesto com ingredientes da fazenda da cervejaria) e a pizza Margherita (com massa fresca feita diariamente, um queijo local chamado Golden Ears, muçarela e manjericão fresco). ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Escolhi a Field House IPA para harmonizar com o mac & cheese, uma double dry-hopped IPA com os lúpulos Citra, Mosaic e Simcoe, o álcool da cerveja é forte suficiente para equilibrar a oleosidade do prato e os sabores cítricos dos lúpulos harmonizaram com as ervas do pesto. O Felipe escolheu a Whisky Sour Ale para acompanhar a pizza, uma cerveja envelhecida em barricas de whisky de carvalho americano com raspas de limão e angostura. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Por último, a Salted Black Porter com sabores de café, alcaçuz, chocolate e caramelo, porque nada melhor que uma sobremesa e cafezinho para finalizar a refeição, né!? Located in Abbotsford, Field House has a cabin feel, attentive service, great beers and comfort food such as the delicious plates we got: Pesto Mac & Cheese and Margherita Pizza. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I chose the Field House IPA to pair with mac & cheese, the alcohol of this double dry-hopped IPA is strong enough to balance the oiliness of the dish and the citrus flavors of the hops harmonized with the herbs of the pesto. Felipe got the Whiskey Sour Ale to eat with the pizza, a beer aged in American oak whisky barrels with lime zest and angostura bitters. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Finally, the Salted Black Porter with coffee, liquorice, chocolate and caramel flavors because nothing better than a dessert and coffee to finish the meal, am I right? We were just passing through on one of our Saturday day trip, a shame because I wanted to stay longer. We'll be back for sure.

[PT-BR] todo o destaque para essa maravilhosa fresh hop da Fuggles & Wardock. Feita com lúpulos Comet e Cashmere, a Chrono Fresh Hop IPA é um belo exemplo de como usar o lúpulo fresco, ela é super aromática, tem cheiro de lupulina recém exposta e tem aquele gostinho de coisa verde. Com certeza, uma das melhores cervejas, se não a melhor, que tomei desse estilo. Gostei tanto que repeti (para quem não me conhece, eu não costumo tomar a mesma cerveja quando visito uma cervejaria pela primeira vez). ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ A outra cerveja que provei e também aprovei foi a Rei Boysenberry Sour, uma Wheat Sour com boysenberries frescas, essa frutinha é proveniente do cruzamento de blackberry e framboesa e o sabor é bem a mistura dessas duas. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ A cervejaria fica em Richmond, uma cidade vizinha de Vancouver, pedalamos cerca de 25km para chegar lá e foi um passeio maravilhoso em um dia ensolarado de outono. Obrigada por mais essa dica Milena e Thiago e pela companhia também, claro. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ [EN] all the highlight for this wonderful fresh hop from @fuggleswarlock. Made with Cometa and Cashmere hops, a Chrono Fresh Hop IPA is a beautiful example of how to use fresh hops, it is super aromatic, smells like freshly exposed lupulin and has “green” flavor profile. Definitely one of the best, if not the best, beers I've had from this style. E modéstia à parte, na prática foi exatamente isso que aconteceu. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ A Schadenfreude é uma Pumpkin Oktoberfest cheia de especiarias, o beijinho (principalmente o tradicional) equilibrou o sabor das especiarias e, juntos na boca, parecia uma colherada do doce cremoso. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ O mesmo aconteceu com a Chocolate Pumpkin Porter Lost Soul. Mas aqui, o que mais harmonizou foi o beijinho de coco queimado por causa do malte chocolate levemente tostado. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ [EN] a pairing to unite Halloween and Witches Day (the Brazilian Halloween): pumpkin beers and beijinho, a traditional Brazilian sweet made with condensed milk and coconut. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ In my theory, the third flavor, coming from mixing the beer with the sweet, would be a creamy pumpkin candy with coconut. In practice this is exactly what happened. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Schadenfreude is a Pumpkin Oktoberfest full of spices, the beijinho balanced the flavor of the spices and together in the mouth it felt like a spoonful of the creamy sweet. [PT-BR] outubro é um mês especial para a cena cervejeira daqui, é o mês das sazonais fresh hop, pumpkin e marzen. E a The Bakery tem todas elas: Fresh Hop Amber Ale, Nitro Pumpkin Spice Porter e Marzen! Aliás, tem essas e mais um monte, eram 21 cervejas no tap. Mas se você quiser provar algo, não pode pensar demais, já que eles fazem pequenas produções e talvez não façam de novo. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Com tantas opções, tivemos que pedir três flights. Experimentamos todas as sazonais do mês, mas as que mais gostamos foram: Oaked Wild Sour (blend de sour envelhecida em barris Syrah por dois anos e cerveja selvagem de 9 meses envelhecida em barris de Bourbon), White IPA, Nitro Pumpkin Spice Porter (com bastante sabor de abóbora) e Salted Chocolate Porter (com delicioso sabor de café com notas de chocolate). ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ A Aromatherapy Golden Ale gera um estranhamento, mas é interessante, ela é feita com zimbro, lavanda, folha de eucalipto, flores de mil-folhas e cedro fresco. É bem botânica e acho que tem a cara da cervejaria no quesito cervejas experimentais, me lembrou algum experimento que fazia no laboratório quando criança. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ [EN] October is a special month for the beer scene, it is the month of seasonal fresh hop, pumpkin Ale and marzen. @bakerybrewing has them all: Fresh Hop Amber Ale, Nitro Pumpkin Spice Porter and Marzen! Highlight for the two hazy and Potato Lager for using an unusual ingredient and taking advantage of the farm's production. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The farm has activities for every season, like the Sunflower Maze in the summer and Pumpkin Patch now in the fall, which you can pick your own pumpkin. Feita em parceria com a cafeteria e torrefadora vizinha Prototype, essa cerveja é aveludada, maciíssimo, cheirosíssima, gostosíssima, assim mesmo, cheia de superlativos. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ É época de fresh hop, a versão aqui é a Fresh, uma Sour com base de Pilsner, flocos de aveia e Cashmere. O ácido da Sour com o leve amargor fresco do lúpulo é uma mistura bem interessante, parece uma mordida de fruta quase madura. Made in partnership with the neighboring @prototypecoffee, this beer is velvety, very soft, very fragrant and very tasty. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It's fresh hop season. The Fresh Fresh Hop Sour had a very interesting mix of sour's acidity and slight bitterness from the fresh hops. It gave me the sensation of biting of an almost ripe fruit. Beautiful Pale Ale is really a beautiful Pale Ale with Mosaic, Simcoe and Amarillo. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ You must order the Margherita pizza with a delicious dough as well the tomato sauce and had plenty of cheese. A American Pale Ale é deliciosamente equilibrada nos lúpulos, refrescante e com final limpo. Já a Hüftgold tem aromas florais e de pão, que se repetem no sabor. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ No cardápio, há tacos e alguns tapas, que variam. Escolhi o Street Style Grilled Corn, um milho grelhado com maionese, queijo cojita, epazote e chilli. Quis testar duas cervejas para harmonizar: a Nectarous, uma Dry-Hopped Sour maravilhosa, que preencheu a boca e limpou o palato; e a Saison, que, apesar da picância, também harmonizou. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Para completar o flight, provei ainda a Opulence, uma Farmhouse Ald com uvas Pinot Noir e Brettanomyces e acidez marcante e a Oat Porter que, só de sentir o aroma de cacau e café já fiquei feliz, mas fiquei ainda mais feliz, quando lembrei que tinha um alfajor para harmonizar. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ [EN] we left without any destination and the cherub's breath took us to Four Winds in Delta. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Normally, I choose a Pale Ale and Felipe a Pilsner to start. I ate Street Style Grilled Corn, a grilled corn with mayonnaise, cojita cheese, epazote and chilli. I tested two beers for pairing with the corn: Nectarous, a wonderful Dry-Hopped Sour, which fullfilled my mouth with tartness and tropical flavors and cleaned my palate. Also the Saison, which was a good pairing with spicy notes. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ To complete the flight, I had Opulence, a Farmhouse Ale with Pinot Noir grapes and Brettanomyces and remarkable acidity.
