AU scenario where BB doesn't spend years in the ruins of Castlevania alone, but finds himself a mentor :)

The man sucked in huge gulps of air, hand and knees on the hellish symbol used for the ritual.

Benedict was exhausted. His head thumped, as if he hadn't slept a wink, and his nostrils revolted at the stench of sulfur and smoke. But the excitement of his accomplishment gave him the strength to raise to his feet, and land a hand to the red-haired man.

"You... you are really here... General Isaac!"

The older Devil Forgemaster snapped his head at the mention of his name; yellow eyes bore into Benedict, wide and feral.

"'General'?... I wasn't called that in a very long time... Who are you supposed to be?"

Isaac was here! He was speaking to him, perfectly normal! Benedict was afraid that he'd create a zombie or bring him back in a tormented state - no, it worked, it worked! "I'm Benedict Belmont, sir, and I really need your--"

Benedict realized his gross mistake as soon as he noticed Isaac's eyes widen. Oh shit.

"Another Belmont?!" he yelled, raising to his feet with a speed that would have put Juste to shame. From thin air he conjured a massive spear, rusty blades shaped like bat wings, and swung at Benedict with fury: it was only the years of training that he endured that made him jump in time. "Wasn't one of you enough, now they send me the runt of the litter?"

"Wait, no! I'm--" Why couldn't he have kept his mouth shut? "I want to serve Dracula!" he shouted the first thing that came to mind.

That was mercifully enough to stop Isaac in his tracks. He laughed, a shrill sound that reminded Benedict of the demons. "Are you quite mad? You, a Belmont, seeking my Lord's tutelage?" He mimicked the act of wiping a tear. "I might as well don myself a cross and call myself a priest."

His mocking stung, but Benedict could not blame him. He was an aberration, after all. He gritted his teeth.

"I'm serious, sir," he murmured. "I'm... not like my family. There is something wrong with me. The demons told me that you were just like me..."

Isaac canted his head, now looking much more serious, like he imagined him all that time. He started circling Benedict, like a wolf ready to strike; Benedict did not take his eyes off the giant, bloodied spear.

"Yes, now that I think of it, I do sense the aura of evil coming within you… you don't stink of holiness like the other Belmont…" It was impressive how much contempt Isaac could fit in Benedict's family name.

"Trevor, sir?"

"Yes, that's right… Mmh." Isaac placed a finger on his cheek. Benedict got the impression that he enjoyed his pantomimes. "What happened to him, anyway? Last time we met… he wasn't in very good shape, hehe…"

Benedict sighed. He thought that explaining his desire to renounce to his family creed would have been the hard part, but this... this might be a challenge. "He… died, a long time ago."

"Oh?" Isaac sounded delighted. "Did I manage to kill him then?"

Benedict frowned, but he had more pressing issues. "No, he died of old age. Two hundred years ago."

Once again, that managed to stun Isaac into silence, but this time, he didn't laugh.

"… two hundred years? What do you mean now, Belmont?"

"It's the year 1739, sir. I… brought you back from the dead." Even now it didn't felt quite real, and somehow, voicing his plan made them sound selfish. What right did he have, to bring someone from the dead far into the future? He grabbed his arms and let his face be hidden by his hair, afraid of the reaction of the older man. "I'm sorry… I just… I thought I could… talk…"

I just didn't want to be alone.

Silence followed his confession. When he raised his head, Isaac wasn't paying attention to him anymore. He was looking around what was left of the throne room, gloved hands picking at his arm, and mumbling to himself.

"… huh. So I died. Haha… and here I waited for years in anticipation for nothing." He smiled a wry smile. "Turns out that Hell is quite painless, because I do not remember a thing after Hector… Hector…"

Isaac's gaze got lost in the distance. He placed a hand on his bare chest, nails grabbing his chains, and growled with a broken voice: "Then I suppose that the traitor is also enjoying his blissful afterlife, after all that he did…"

Benedict grimaced. General Hector seemed to be a sore subject in that castle. Maybe one day he'll gain the courage to call for him too... to ask how did he gain the courage to run back... He would never.

Isaac's pale gaze turned back to Benedict, and any trace of anger vanished, replaced by a wide smirk. His mood swings were unsettling, but at least he wasn't angry at Benedict. He bowed in a theatrical fashion.

"Well then," he drawled, low voice like honey. "What did you wish to talk about with yours truly? You must be quite desperate, to drag me back from Hell for my services..."

Benedict gulped. "I am. Please, General Isaac... please tell me everything you know about our powers. And what... and what Dracula was like. I wish to find my own place in this world."

The words dropped with all of their weight in the ruins of the throne room. This was it. Benedict had finally turned his back to his old family. There was nothing but resolution in his heart.

"A Devil Forgemaster in training, hmm?" Isaac turned his back straight and grinned, and Benedict wanted to believe that it was his way of welcoming him in the castle. "Oh, we will get along just fine... Benedict Belmont."

Benedict's eyes scan the words across the page. After your confession, he proceeded to buy one of Talbot's your poetry books.

'Tis in your eyes I seek comfort.

Your arms I find solace.

In your lips I find love.

'Tis in you that I find the whole world

Standing before in great beauty

But at an arm's length is where I stay.

The second eldest Bridgerton is in awe. Your words carry such deep meaning, a sense of longing. Is this how you feel? Had someone captured your heart and he was none the wiser?

So many questions have risen since he's learned of your secret identity. Your poetry carries a deep sense of love, desire, passion. He never expected such feelings to come from you. This is a completely different side of you he is now seeing.

In the past, when you shared your poetry with him, they had a light, romantic touch. A sense of naivety and fairy tale outlook on love and life. But as Talbot, it was different.

"Helloooo?" Eloise waves her hand in front of Benedict, breaking his concentration.

He slaps her hand away, "What?"

Eloise snorts, "I have never seen you so deep in a book before, brother."

"A few ladies mentioned Arthur Talbot's work and I figured I see what the fuss was all about."

His sister rolls her eyes, "Women fawning over men waxing romantic poetics. Typical."

"I cannot wait for the day you fall in love, sister, and make an absolute fool of yourself." Benedict stands from his place at the table in the drawing room. He steps out to see Anthony and Kate escorting you to the door. His eyes brighten, "Y/N, I wasn't aware you were here."

You nod to him, "Apologies, Mister Bridgerton. I was simply here to discuss...business with Lord Bridgerton," you gesture to Anthony.

Benedict frowns, "Why such formality with us? We've been friends for years."

"Aunt Eliza advises me that I should be formal with you. She said that there may be men who envy the idea that I am close with you. So it is best we remain more...formal."

Benedict's shoulders sag, "Very well. We mustn't deter any...future prospects."

You nod, "Thank you for understanding," you face Anthony again and curtsey, "My Lord, thank you again for the list." You then face Kate, "I shall see you later, my Lady."

"Of course. I look forward to spending more time with you."

You proceed to take your leave, Benedict's eyes following you as you exit the Bridgertons' home.

"Excuse me," Benedict murmurs, heading straight to the study and pouring himself a drink.

Anthony clears his throat as he enters the room, "Will you be okay, brother? Truly."

"I have to be. There are much better men out there that will be able to provide the life and freedom she deserves. I need to accept that." Anthony, approaches his brother and gives him a reassuring pat on his shoulders, "I commend you for doing this. It won't be easy, but with time, I'm sure you'll be alright."

"Yes...time."

"Tell me about yourself, Miss L/N," Lord Belmont says as he turns you about the ballroom among the other couples.

You have to admit that the man is handsome, "Well I love poetry and to read. I am a fair player of the pianoforte as well as the harp. I know Latin and Greek. I adore animals."

Lord Belmont hums, "How do you fare in the outdoors?"

"I enjoy my time riding and walking amongst nature."

The lord scrunches up his face and distaste, "Oh no. If you are to be my wife, you shall be inside at all times being lady of the house."

You look at him in disbelief, "Am I not allowed to step outside at all, my Lord?"

"Of course, but only when we need to attend balls or important festivities."

Thankfully, the dance ends and you quickly and politely excuse yourself. You head straight to the refreshment table. You grab a lemonade and gulp half the glass down.

"Are you well? You practically ran from Lord Belmont," Kate asks as she approaches you at the drinks table.

You hum, "While Lord Belmont is a handsome man, I do not think he would allow the...freedom, that I desire."

Kate nods in understanding, "I see. Well, onto the next then?" She hooks her arm around yours and guides you to the the corner of the room where Anthony, Benedict, Daphne, and a man you haven't seen before stands with them.

"Apologies, I bumped into Miss L/N at the refreshment table. She needed a break from dancing."

Daphne's eyes light up, "Wonderful! Miss L/N, this is the Duke's friend, Lord Montclair, a marquess" she gestures to the dark skinned man dressed in a navy blue velvet suit.

You curtsy, "Good evening, Lord Montclair."

He nods to you, "A pleasure, Miss L/N," he gives you a kind smile.

"Montclair, you have French heritage?"

His smile grows wider, "I do. My father is French. Have you been?"

You nod, "My family and I would travel there for the summer," your smile weakens, "Unfortunately, I have not visited for years now."

"I understand. It has been some time since I have visited as well."

You and the Marquess continue to look each other with kind eyes. Benedict hides his clenched fists behind his back. Kate watches her brother-in-law with careful eyes.

Daphne is beaming as she speaks, "Lord Montclair, Miss Y/N is well-versed in poetry."

"Really?"

You shy from his gaze, "Yes, um, my mother would read poetry all the time. I fell in love with it. I love how much emotion one can convey through few lines."

"She writes poetry, as well," Benedict speaks and you look at him in surprise, "The way her words can make you feel so much in small amounts of verses...it's a beautiful feeling."

You give him a grateful smile and turn back to Lord Montclair, "Mister Bridgerton flatters me, but I am a novice when it comes to poetry writing."

"I do hope I get to read some of your writing in the future, Miss L/N."

You giggle, feeling your cheeks heat up as Lord Montclair gives his attention to you, "Perhaps sooner than expected, my Lord."

Lord Montclair steps closer to you, "I know you are taking a moment from dancing, but perhaps you have space on your dance card for me?"

"Of course, my Lord," you offer him your dance card and watch as he scribbles his neck in the next space, which happens to be for the next dance coming up.

"Oh, it seems our dance is here," he holds out his hand, waiting for you with a smile.

You place your gloved hand in his and follow him as he escorts you to the floor. You glance back at the Bridgertons, who all watch you with eager, careful eyes.

As they all watch you waltz with the Marquess, Benedict asks his sister, "Do you vouch for the Marcquess?"

She nods, "Yes. He is very kind. He enjoys reading and archery-"

"Brother, Y/N excels in archery, correct?"

Benedict clenches his jaw, "She does." His eyes never waver from you as you smile while dancing with the marquess.

"Looks like there may be some things they have in common," Kate says, eyeing her brother-in-law.

"How wonderful for them," Benedict murmurs as he walks away from his siblings.

You spend a large portion of your night conversing with Lord Montclair. The man was intelligent, charming, funny, and kind. He was the perfect man you see yourself marrying and yet...your eyes still wander towards Benedict. He spoke with some lords, danced with a few women. You knew you initiated the distance between you and Benedict, but that didn't mean it doesn't hurt you.

That man has held your heart for several years and it seems he will never reciprocate the feelings you have for him. So it's best to start the process of moving on, hopefully, with Lord Montclair.

And Lord Montclair did not disappoint when he called upon you the next morning.

He sat across from you in the sitting room, Aunt Eliza nearby going over some paperwork.

You look down at the bouquet of flowers, your favorite, the very ones you mentioned last night during your dance with Lord Montclair.

"Have you read any new poems today?" You shake your head and Montclair pulls out a book you are very familiar with, "Have you read Arthur Talbot's work? He's fairly new yet quite popular already."

You bite your lip to prevent you from bursting into a fit of giggles, "I adore his work. He has an impressive way of words."

He opens the book to a dog-eared page. He clears his throat and begins to recite,

To love you is to bathe in your light

To sway to your laughter,

With its melody and rhythm

To swell with pride when your eyes gaze on mine.

For that, I am whole

And you are forever my muse.

You felt a little...odd. Considering that not only is Lord Montclair reciting a poem that you wrote, but it's also about a man you are trying to get over. Not what you expected when you received your first caller.

"I believe that was one of Talbot's earlier works, yes?"

Montclair nods, "Yes, but I still believe the feeling of what he was trying to convey is very much still there, don't you agree?"

"Very much so, my Lord."

After some lengthy discussion about Talbot's work, you two move to the piano so you can teach him how to play.

"I never did have much of an ear for music. My mother was quite disappointed in me when I was unable to play any instrument she placed in my hands."

You chuckle, "We shall start with something easy." You show him how to place his fingers on the keys, giggling as you move each finger to the right location.

You continue to laugh with each other as you teach him the simplest of songs, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.

As you laugh when he gets the wrong note, a footman enters the room, "Miss L/N, you have another caller."

Daphne enters the room and you immediately stand, "Your Grace!"

The duchess' smile grows at the sight of you and Lord Montclair, "I do hope I haven't upset you with my intrusion, but it is nearing lunch and Lord Montclair hadn't return. But I see why now." she gives you a teasing look.

"I apologize for keeping Lord Montclair for so long, your Grace."

"Nonsense, Y/N. I was just checking that our dear marquess is alright."

Lord Montclair chuckles as he, too, stands from the piano bench, "As you can see, I am quite alright, but I suppose I have overstayed my welcome."

You shake your head, "Of course not, my Lord. It was a pleasure seeing you. I hope to see you again soon."

He faces you, "I hope to see you as well," he gently grabs your gloved hand and places a kiss atop it.

He then bows to your aunt, "Miss Y/N, good day."

"You as well, my Lord," your aunt responds with a wave.

You curtsy to Daphne, and she and the marquess both leave your home.

Benedict to post-CV3 Hector: Sir... How did you find the strength and will to go back to humans, after all this time?

I would have rather died at the hands of humans as myself, than live as an object in Dracula's grasp.

I didn't expect to survive my betrayal, I knew that Isaac would have found me soon... but I was made to live, among the same people who despised me so.

And after all the crimes against nature I've committed, they didn't frighten me like they once did. I took the chance to atone for my sins, and forge a new life for myself. I didn't have it in my heart to reject Rosaly's kindness...

Perhaps, you too will find a human that will see past your cursed nature. I wish you the best, Benedict Belmont.

I’m not really good at writing—especially writing reviews—but I’ll try my best to give a small review and why I put them on this list. And, I’ll try my best to not give any spoiler in case you haven’t watch it. Ya kalo w sudah kehabisan kata-kata untuk me-review, w tidak akan tulis apa-apa ok.

1. The Imitation Game

Merupakan sebuah kisah nyata dari matematikawan Enggeres bernama Alan Turing yang diperankan oleh om Benedict Cumberbatch. Lalu ada pula matematikawati (?) yang menjadi heroine dalam film ini yaitu Joan Clarke, diperankan oleh mbak Keira Knightley. Udah ga diragukan lagi ya kualitas acting mereka berdua. Sampe sini dah paham? Ok.

Just imagine yourself making a machine to break the unbreakable machine called Enigma; how you build the trust between your team and the gasps when your machine is really breaking the Enigma. That thrilling sensation and remarkable dialogues.

Alurnya rada muter-muter so please prepare yourself for little confusion.

2. The Grand Budapest Hotel

“Rudeness is merely the expression of fear. People fear they won't get what they want. The most dreadful and unattractive person only needs to be loved and they will open up like a flower.“

Jika kalian mencari ketenangan batin melalui keindahan visual dan jalan cerita yang ga terlalu berat, makan tontonlah filem Wes Anderson. Really. Suwer. I’ve watched some of his works but this one is my favourite.

Starring Voldemort Ralph Fiennes as Mr. Gustave and Toni Revolori as Lobby Boy. Alurnya mundur, menceritakan masa kejayaan hotel ini dan yang terjadi pada saat itu. Ceritanya tertata rapi dan bener-bener enak buat ditonton. Ga ada alasan khusus buat suka film ini kecuali visually pleasing and simple story.

3. Black Swan

“Perfection is not just about control, it's also about letting go.”

IMDb: 8/10 // Rotten Tomatoes: 85%

Genre thriller tapi dikemas dengan sangat indah alias cantik banget. A story about Nina (Natalie Portman)—the fragile girl who trying to portray both withe and black swan. She can do the white swan perfectly, but black swan is different. She need to letting go and loose the perfection within herself.

4. Never Let Me Go

“It had never occurred to me that our lives, which had been so closely interwoven, could unravel with such speed. If I'd known, maybe I'd have kept tighter hold of them and not let unseen tides pull us apart.”

IMDb: 7.1/10 // Rotten Tomatoes: 70%

Filem sedih favorit gue. So far. Trigger warning for those who have anxiety and thanatophobia (fear of death), perhaps?

Scoring-nya bagus banget. Bener-bener tipikal filem sedih yang akan gue suka sepanjang masa. Filem ini ga bikin gue nangis. Ga setitikpun. Namun berhasil bikin gue nyesek di dada dan bengong setelah nonton sambil bilang “hah? anjir?” dalam konteks kesedihan (?). Berasa langsung bolong ada yang hilang. ‘Cuma’ dapet rating 7 di IMDb dan RT.

Agak sedih because I think they deserves higher rate? Yaudah gapapa. Yang menilai jauuuuh lebih mumpuni daripada eug.

5. Midnight in Paris

Filem ini ga bisa ditonton buru-buru. Apalagi buat lo yang suka skip filem. Emang banyak scene yang diem doang ga ada dialog, gue ngerti kalo lo bakal bosen. Yet please, I beg you to not skip any single second in this movie because the musics in Midnight in Paris can make you feel like you’re really in Paris.

6. Gone Girl

“I'm the cunt you married. The only time you liked yourself was when you were trying to be someone this cunt might like. I'm not a quitter, I'm that cunt. I killed for you; who else can say that? You think you'd be happy with a nice Midwestern girl? No way, baby! I'm it”. (not really a ‘cool quotes’ but it’s from one of my favourite scenes).

Main kejar-kejaran dan petak umpet di level yang berbeda. You will find Rosamund Pike’s voice is so magnetic to hear. Kalo gue review filem ini gue kayaknya harus pake template selebgram review makanan:

7. The Perks of Being a Wallflower

Bener-bener bikin kangen masa SMA! Soundtrack-nya enak dan memorable. It can show you both bright and blue feelings. Terlebih lagi karena tokoh di filem ini mengidap PTSD. It shows you how Charlie (Logan Lerman) cope with his mental illness (I guess... (?)).

8. The Danish Girl

“I can feel myself getting better when I listen to your pencil. You've always sketched me better than I was.  But what you draw, I become. You made me beautiful.  And now you're making me strong. Such power in you.”

IMDb: 7.1/10 // Rotten Tomatoes: 67%

Kisah nyata juga nih. Menceritakan tentang Einar Wegener yang diperankan oleh om Eddie Redmayne dan Istrinya, Gerda Wegener, yang diperankan oleh mba Alicia Vikander. Gila ga tuh?! Anw, per tanggal posting ini, filem The Danish Girl menjadi trending karena ada yang merekomendasikan di TikTok. Sekadar curhat personal, rasanya pengen teriak, “Lo kemana aja woy?!11??” it’s hella five years since it’s official release date. Tapi yaudah lah nanti w disangka sok superior lagi huhu.

Filem sedih banget (ga sampe bikin nangis sih) dan penuh dilema. Lo diajak buat ngerasain gimana sedihnya Gerda dan pencarian jati diri Einar. Scoring dan sinematografinya cakep banget. Again rasanya gue pengen naikin rating IMDb dan RT :”)
