Orianna’s expression is still, blank, as she makes another confession. Her lips part slowly and she takes a deep breath, an unsteady breath that makes her seem almost human. Almost like herself. But she isn’t. Caitlyn knows that.

And that’s what scares her.

“I think you’ll grow to hate me.” It is an honest assessment of her feelings, words that should not pass through her lips but leave anyway. She has little sense of fear or shame, for what are these things to the clockwork inventor that has faced death, faced ruin, faced calamity?

“I am not her. My body is not her’s. It is a cage, gilded, and my soul is mine.” Were her cheeks not red with the cold of winter, were her eyelids not fluttering against the smog and winds, she could so easily be mistaken for a clockwork effigy. An elegy constructed of metal for a dancer who only exists in Caitlyn’s memories.

She is not that person.

She is not any of the Oriannas within the memories of her peers.

The gap between expectation and reality grows like a chasm, threatening to swallow her with each passing day, leaving her isolated. That may happen again. It is likely. It is probable. It is exceedingly rare for someone to know her, to see her - not as a spectre come back, but as her own person.

“I will not be enough to make up for the memories and the lifetimes. I never have been. If you must let me go, if the pain grows to deep like a thorn within your heart - pricking you at the sight of me - then let me go early. Do not be considerate. I am not fragile, but if do not wish to have the world swept out from underneath me.

Please.”

Her head tilts to the side, as though to hear something on the wind that only reaches her ears. She turns, she strides, and she slips through the streets as though invisible - a ghostly witch who feels her heart drowned by the pain radiating from the city below.

Yet, there is someone who calls her attention even more, drawing her focus from one place to another. Further, deeper, she walks as if possessed - she feels a heart so burdened, so exhausted, that her legs carry her without knowing where she is heading. As if following following a melody in the air or reeling back a line, she at last comes upon the woman she seeks.

Caitlyn is not what she expected. This is a woman who holds herself well, carries herself with poise, and yet Sona’s empathetic heart calls her towards Caitlyn regardless. The tips of her cheeks turn a warm red as she finds herself without explanation for why she has barged in upon such a famous person. It is the sheriff of Piltover, of course. She knows that. She knows that, and yet...

Her hand trembles as it reaches forward cautiously, trembling, on an arc to pull Caitlyn in for an embrace. That a heart could be so burdened - it is not unique, but it is rare. It is unbearable. Her fingertips flinch as she realizes what she is doing and snaps her hand back, eyes brimming with sympathetic tears. Perhaps she is being overly sensitive to the pain of Zaun below, projecting something upon Caitlyn that is not there.

But she feels it.

She feels something, something so strong, so radiant, so heavy, it brings her to tears. Dipping her head sharply in a bow of apology, she turns on her heel and immediately absconds. Stupid, stupid, stupid!

1. PROMPT: Michael’s Truck - Present day, Michael’s truck gets destroyed/damaged beyond repair and he looses his SHIT. People don’t understand why he’s so upset about it. Except maybe Alex. Cause me PAIN, make me cry but finish with sweet, sweet comfort and a happy ending.

2. PROMPT: 1930's Speakeasy AU featuring injured WW1 vet Alex who now works as a singer in Maria's speakeasy. Michael is the local bootlegger who supplies Maria's bar. Isobel is a local socialite? Kyle local doctor? Love to see everyone else as well?

3. PROMPT: Mob boss AU - inspired by that new photo going around! Michael is the son of a Chicago mob boss. Michael meets and falls for college student Alex. Is Michael active in the family business? Is he trying to distance himself from the family business? Is Alex what he seems?

4. PROMPT: Notting Hill-inspired AU - Alex is a famous singer. Michael is the mechanic who fixes Alex’s car when it breaks down out in the desert on tour. Shenanigans ensue.

5. PROMPT: Kyle - Something happens to Kyle that has him near breaking point emotionally (eg Sheriff Valenti gets seriously hurt on the job or something else). It makes everyone realise just how much Kyle has been there for all of them in some way when they needed it and they all return that support in his time of need.

6. PROMPT: Name Change - At some point in the future our fav couples get hitched. Plot twist - not only does Alex take Michael's last name (that's canon at this point, right?) but Max takes Liz's. Make it so sweet I have to book a dentists appointment.

7. PROMPT: Sports AU - Michael and Alex are both on the same college hockey team. Alex looses his leg in an accident, ending his playing career. Fast forward 5 years, Alex gets a job as an IT/Web consultant for the same NHL team that Michael now plays for.

8. PROMPT: Space Pirates AU - Michael is a run away royal turned space pirate/resistance fighter. Alex is the military officer sent to capture him. #Malex If you want to throw Kyle in, happy for a #Mylex version as well.

9. PROMPT: Polyamory - The number three plays an important part in the show - 3 pod squad, 3 axes on the star map to Antar etc. What if the default relationship group on Antar is also 3 people? Look at how Michael spirals when cut off from Max and Isobel? Could it explain why Michael and Alex have so much trouble staying together - they are missing their third? Could this be why the bond between Max and Liz wasn't strong enough to keep her in Roswell - they were missing their third? Maybe "outdated binary of sexuality" has multiple meanings? Give me Mylex, give me Kaliz, give me both? Or give me something unexpected?

OOC - hella Swain ships

// I'll ship Swain with Literally Anyone if you can convince me it works, but these are my faves to think about. Specifically I’m imagining an arc in which a very close relationship is formed or maintained, thereby enabling the possibility of “something more” (whether that’s romantic, platonic, or even an “acquired family” type of situation):

* Also obviously some of these relationships would be difficult / would have to overcome SEVERAL issues, namely dislike, distrust, and even hatred. But that’s exactly why I like some of them.

Easiest to envision:

1. LeBlanc. Kinda obvious/duh. 2. Darius. Already very close, so yeah. 3. Vladimir. A bit more complicated due to moral alignments, but a Thing.

Much more difficult:

4. A du Couteau (including Talon & Marcus). This obviously depends on characterization, but damn, I love the idea of him interacting with a du Couteau. ... is Cass a du Couteau anymore? I can’t remember ... 5. Caitlyn. Also depends on her characterization. I REALLY LIKE THIS and I blame it fully on my first threads on here with @sheriff-caitlyn. They made me feel like a close relationship was possible between them. 6. Sona. Informed by very old headcanons, mainly based on his apparent fascination with her as indicated by the line that used to tie them together: "Her melody moves the soul, her silence sunders the body."

And the most difficult of all:

7. Jarvan IV. The ULTIMATE HATESHIP but, my heart. I cri. I actually really enjoy thinking about a world where they could find an absolution, an alliance, something to bring Noxus and Demacia together ... and idk I guess I’m just attracted to the impossible.

Caitlyn and Sona are walking on the street leaving a restaurant when the sheriff gently pushes the maven into an alley and kisses her incredibly passionate and leaves some kisses on her neck. "Sorry, you are irresistible~~"

It was drawing into the evening, dusk eclipsing most of the natural light of day. It wasn’t a problem for the City of Progress and its various lanterns and streetlamps. The retreating sun did cause a brief chill to sweep through Piltover, but the pleasant buzz from a shared bottle of wine left Sona feeling warm, warding off any shivers that would come. Well, all but the shivers Caitlyn was causing as the good Sheriff had her tucked into a nearby alleyway. Seductive giggles bubble into her mind, matching the blissful smile that hinted at devious intent. “Caitlyn~” Sona mewls softly, her hands instinctively resting on the other woman’s hips. Finger drum against her sides affectionately, keeping her body close. When Caitlyn dips down for her neck, the maven is quick to run a hand up the back of her neck, digits kneading at her scalp in an encouraging fashion. “I don’t want an apology, I want you to keep going--stain my neck with your purple lipstick...unless you wish to make more magenta hues between our mouths.” It’s a playful callback to their first romantic encounter all that time ago, of her cherry lips smearing into a lovely pink shade. Coyly, her hips would roll forward, teasingly rubbing up against the other woman. A nudge of her leg would create momentary friction. Perhaps the liquid courage has Sona a bit more bold than normal, but it couldn’t be helped--the Sheriff insisted, after all.

But they make sure the other is okay and they go to lay down together, snuggling affectionately while musing about what they’ll have for breakfast tomorrow. Sona will insist on cooking for Caitlyn since she’s a guest in the Sheriff’s home. Bonus points if there’s drowsy smooching and head pets as they drift off to sleep.
