I don’t even know why the first thing that my brain thought of after waking up at 7am was this, but here you go!
A hand find its way to Mav’s hair and it gently ran through it.
“That’s nice,” Mav thought. He opened one of his eyes to see whose hand it belonged to and fully expecting to see a silver haired man next to him, looking at him with that relieved smile.
Instead, Maverick woke up to an empty hospital room and the usually occupied chair next to the bed was empty. He was looking for Iceman, the person who was always there when he woke up from another crash or accident but he couldn’t find him.
“Maybe Ice went for coffee or something” Mav thought.
Right on time, the door to mav’s hospital room opened. Mav couldn’t help but smile his wide sunshine smile that he reserved just for Ice after getting into trouble again. He also couldn’t help himself from saying “Hey, Ice” to the figure entering his room.
The eyes that met his were the wrong colour. They were brown instead of the icy blue eyes that he loved and the brown eyes are filled with guilt and sadness.
“Sorry Mav. It’s not Ice, it’s Bradley.”
“Oh hi baby goose” Mav said to Bradley as he came closer to the bed and stood next to it.
“Where’s Ice? Do you know when will he be here?” Mav asked Bradley and he watched him sucked in a harsh breath and those guilt in his eyes intensified.
“Are you ok Bradley? What’s the matter?” Mav’s gentle yet concerned voice asked.
“Ice couldnt come, mav” Bradley answered hesitantly.
“Oh? He’s on a work trip or something?” Mav asked.
“No, not like that” said Bradley.
“Then why?” Mav pushed for answer.
Bradley inhaled deeply and briefly looked up to the ceiling before looking back at mav as he carefully chose his next words “do you remember what happened last week, Mav?”
“Yes I do. Us training for the mission, the dogfight football, cyclone chewing my ass yet again, more training, coyote going into g-loc, the bird strike and the fun—,” the memory hit mav like a brick. No, it’s worse than a brick.
“Oh… Ice’s, Ice’s funeral…” Mav said barely above a whisper and didn’t have the chance to stop himself from looking at the empty chair next to his hospital bed.
The soothing touches had been a dream or was it memory? Mav wasn’t so sure of himself anymore because how could he forget the day he lost Ice? It was the most pain he felt when he lost him and none of his many ejections and accidents were that painful. Even the pain he felt right now wasn’t as bad as the day he buried his Ice.
“I’m so sorry, Mav” Bradley offered and bent down to hug him. He pretended that he didn’t notice the tears that were falling from Mav’s eyes and continued to hold on to his godfather. Bradley’s heart broke for the man in his arms who had suffered too many heartbreaks and silently vowed to himself that he would protect him to the end of his life.
I’m sorry guys. I couldn’t help it…
WELL LET'S SAY IT WASN'T HOW I IMAGINE GETTING WAKED UP-
But it's really good and I love the concept of Mav forgetting Ice is dead because it's such a huge everything him not being around that his mind refuses the possibility of it at every turn and just- forgets he's not here.
I'm gonna cry a little brb

Hihihi! Someone recommended “call me a bad habit” to me and I literally inhaled it! I genuinely don’t remember the last time I read a series that fast. I’m just so in love with how you wrote Bakugou and how you had him clearly falling for us even though we had absolutely no clue. I’m just so in love with the concept and how it was executed! It almost gave me spiderman vibes with the hatred for heroes and wanting the incriminating shots? Just ahhh thank you for writing it I seriously loved it. I present to you:
A Concept (that popped into my mind while re-reading Legacy)
So you know how Keefe basically had shadowflux seep into his skin during the weird chair thing at the end of legacy?
And you know how Gisela said she had no idea whether or not the shadowflux would harm him? (good job thinking that through btw)
Well what if one day Keefe wakes up from his coma
Elwin checks over his vitals, does a ton of tests, blah blah blah
And everything is fine, nothing is wrong
Keefe goes home
Then one day, both of his legs and his right arm start to ache
like a lot
to the point where he can’t really move them. (And if he does they hurt a shit ton)
He goes to Elwin (after like a week of it not getting beter, because he thought it might just be a side effect of the shadowflux)
And Elwin checks over his vitals and uses his lights
And is just like “oh fuck”
Because the shadowflux has acted like a poison
slowly spreading from his arm and legs to his heart
So he calls over Tam and Lady Zillah to see if they can get the shadowflux out of his system
but whatever happened at the weird ceremony with the lights messed with the shadowflux, and Tam can’t move it.
Everyone panics.
Elwin calls over the collective and the squad and try to figure out if there is another option then the one hes thinking of.
And eventually Elwin is just like
“We need to amputate your legs and right arm if you want to live.”
Obviously everyone is very against that idea
But after about another hour of arguing, with Keefe’s legs and arm getting progressively worse he just yells
“Alright, I’ll do it!”
The room seemed to freeze, everyone turning to stare at him. Keefe sighed, using his left arm to fiddle with the sheets on the cot, as at this point, using his legs or arm was nearly impossible.
It felt like it was restricting his blood-flow, and he was honestly surprised that his appendages hadn’t turned purple at this point.
“I’ll get them amputated.” He said, raising his head to look at Elwin,” You can do that right?” He asked, trying for a joke, but the crack in his voice ruined it.
Elwin swallowed, adjusting his glasses as he leveled his stare with Keefe’s,” I can,” he said softly,” But... are you certain?”
“Don’t do it.” Tam blurted, drawing everyone's attention to him,” You realize what would happen right? You wont have legs or an arm, you would be bedridden for the rest of your life.”
“And my other choice is to die,” Keefe snapped, wiping his eyes with his arm,” A probably very painful death at that.” He laughed bitterly, wiping his eyes again.
Sophie rested her hand on his right arm, which at this point had become numb. He could feel her worry rolling of her in waves,” Keefe...” her voice cracked.
“I’ll be fine Foster.” He said, resting his hand on hers. His gut clenched, he was really losing both his legs, and his arm. Of all the ways he expected to be bedridden, this was not one of them.
“There has to be another way,” Ro said, placing her knife into her hilt,” You elves are always bragging about your amazing technology, isn't there a way to hook Lord Hunkyhair up with some of that?”
A sharp inhale sounded from the other side of the room, and Keefe turned his head to see Dex, his periwinkle eyes widening as he looked at Keefe.
“There someting that could work.” he said,” I- I would have to talk to Tinker about it, but it could work.” he repeated.
“What could work?” Elwin pressed.
“Remember in Lumenaria, when Councilor Terik lost his leg, how we made a mechanical one for him instead?” Dex said, and Keefe could practically see the gears turning in his mind.
“Yes, I was one of the people who helped plot out the design for it.” Elwin said, and Keefe took in a shaky breath.
“Are you saying-” Keefe breathed.
“Yes.” Dex said, his eyes shining.
And despite all of the shit that had just happened, Keefe couldn’t help but let a stupid grin break out across his face,” That would be the coolest thing ever.”
Anyways may I present you the idea of Cyborg!Keefe-
im bouta go draw this brb-
Here it is

Autumn and October Playlists 🍂🎃
Sharing some of my favourite songs with you today in this post. I’ll be talking about only a couple of songs in these playlists and I will leave a link so you can have a listen if you like! (Autumn playlist = Autumnal vibe songs. October playlist = Songs I’ve been LOVING this month)
AUTUMN PLAYLIST
1. Diamonds - Talia Mar
I have honestly loved Talia’s music for a long time and am always so excited for new releases. Diamonds did not disappoint. It’s definitely a bit different to other songs she’s brought out, it’s fast paced, however still some aspects are slow and incredibly vocal. I love the way it flows, very complex yet easy to understand the concept.
“He covers you in diamonds, blinds you with his riches, clothes you in his words just to take away your senses, showers you in gifts all with his dirty funds, all these words of guilt but you buy them just like he buys diamonds”
2. french inhale - [bsd.u]
This song is actually in two of my playlists, “a u t u m n” and “brb i’m reading”. It’s a really calming song and I feel like it matches the Autumn vibes well. No only this but I find myself reading a lot more during Autumn so songs like this make an appearance.
No lyrics here lol
3. Only you (Acoustic) - Sarah Close
Such a b e a u t i f u l song! Matched with Sarah’s voice just makes this all the more better! Her vocals are the most serene thing I’ve heard in the 17 years I’ve walked the earth and the lyrics are gorgeous. To put it simply if you love acoustic songs, get on this one right now.
“You're so heavy I can't see the skies, you’re making plans then forgetting mine, nothing to look for now you’ve found your treasure, and I’ve been asking myself, when is this gonna get better”
4. Hallelujah- Oh Wonder
Oh Wonder are honestly one of my favourite artists out there. The fact that I had the chance to see them live last year for my birthday but I didn’t still aggravates me to this day. Hallelujah is their most recent release and is just as beautiful as every other song they’ve released. In conclusion : Listen to their music.
“Cause there’s a crown, covered in glitter and gold, I’m gonna wear it whether you like it or not.”
OCTOBER PLAYLIST
1. Drama Club - Melanie Martinez
One of my favourite songs off her new album! As a fan of her last album I was waiting FOREVER for some new music and maaan Melanie served. I like the beat in the background and Melanie’s voice fits nicely with it. Also, the music video 🙏🏼 Women empowerment? Please, I’m so in love with everything about this song!
“Everyones so soft everyones so sensitive, do I offend you? You’re hanging on my sentences, you can keep you costume and you can keep your mask, i’ma take a bow so you can kiss my ass”
2. Tainted love - Soft cell
It’s just a banger isn’t it? What an oldie but goldie! Me and my mum literally scream the house down with this song and let’s be 100% honest here, if you know this song you definitely clap along to it. (If you don’t understand that, then you don’t know the song, sorry about it)
“Sometimes I feel I’ve got to *Clap Clap* run away, I’ve got to *Clap Clap* get away from the pain you drive into the heart of me, the love we share seems to go nowhere”
3. Looped up - Tobi Lou (feat. Vernon)
Tobi Lou: the only rapper that I will gladly listen to :) I love so many of Tobi’s songs but this one is *chef’s kiss* perfection. There’s so much to it but works so incredibly well. You can’t help but bop your head and tap your feet. It’s that kind of song and I LOVE it!
“It’s been a very long time since the weekend, it’s been a very long time and I’m weak, It’s been a very long time since you’ve seen me dunno why I’m so hard to reach”
4. This is Halloween - Panic! At the Disco.
This one’s just plain obvious. October playlist? Halloween songs. The Nightmare before Christmas is one of my most favourite seasonal movies to watch and I love this song a bit too much. I feel like using the original is a bit excessive, luckily Brendon Urie came in clutch and gave us this beautiful rendition of it!
“Tender lumplings everywhere, life’s no fun without a good scare, that’s our job but we’re not mean, in our town of Halloween”

I got like a brutal one-eye headache just like, sandpapering at the back of my left eye socket, so like. hi. ow. quick hit ‘cuz i gotta use this joint like a journal or i forget my own fuckin’ name.
as i was getting my shit together and coming up the back stairs to the guest room here i was thinking wistfully about how it’s already wednesday night and i still haven’t even started getting the yurt set up and like i should uh... work on that... but i’m waiting for dad to come back in to town, he’s been down in maryland with the army sister’s babies and all, he’s not coming back until... uh.
uh it’s. um.
it’s not wednesday.
no, today was monday... i’ve only been here two days. chill, self.
today I took farmbaby to school after playing half a board game and some dress-up with her. we sat in the car and read for a few minutes, and she watched the other kids arrive, and told me all their names, their siblings’ names and ages, and their parents’ names and jobs. i kept saying ‘don’t you want to get out and play with them’ as the horde of kids ran by shrieking in glee, and she was like ‘... mm, nah.’ It was kind of funny.
I came back and wound up loading the truck and taking all the farm’s garbage to the town’s recycling center/transfer station. (you don’t get to throw stuff in the dump yourself in this modern era, alas. i only vaguely remember the days of doing that, as a kid.)
I also... collected feathers from the mortal remains of the former rooster known as Odin, which was... I mean... sort of not that gross, and sort of exactly as terrible as it sounds, so. Let’s move on.
I had like 45 minutes of downtime after all that because b-i-l had the car and thus had to pick up Farmbaby from school, and I remembered about and devoured Briarley, which I ought to review. It’s exceedingly tightly-paced and riveting and I wholeheartedly recommend it. I think it took me about an hour to inhale it, all told, but that’s not saying much.
brb going to leave a review. lol i share an amazon account with my dude so this is going to be under his name, which is great. he never writes reviews and i often do, so. suck on that, data miners. i guess. anyway.
after lunch i washed eggs, which is like, an endless part of life on this farm. and then the three remaining pigs from the last batch were to be loaded onto a trailer-- fortunately, a nearby-ish farm with whom we’re friendly had need of some more pork to sell, as they don’t raise pigs over the winter so are nearly six months out from their next batch, and so they could happily relieve us of the three pigs we still had left over from the winter ones. but as anyone who’s ever tried it knows, trying to get pigs to go anywhere at all ever is a fucking nightmare. i was stood off to the side with farmbaby, and that was fine-- i’d started out being a human fence, but then we realized that farmbaby can’t be trusted not to make a ruckus at the pigs, so i had to take her away. (When they wouldn’t go where we wanted, she shrieked at them, and a shrieking child sounds like a shrieking pig and it upset them a lot, they thought one of themselves was getting murdered. It was pretty bad.)
I came back out and saw that they finally got the pigs to go where they needed to. There was one left, a little boar they’d bought and then realized they didn’t need. He was seemingly happy to be on his own, since nobody was pushing him away from the food, until he finished the food, and realized he was all alone. And then he freaked out and screamed for like, 20 minutes, which was sort of heartbreaking-- we thought he’d be pleased not to be bullied, but pigs are gregarious and he’d never been alone before. He’s literally six inches away from the breeding sows and their babies, but he can’t see them and can’t touch them, and for him that counts as being profoundly alone. Pigs can be kept alone, and he will be fine, but he’s never been alone before and really was bowled over by the whole concept. We’re trying to sell him, or give him away, but so far there are no takers.
Anyway. Poor weird little bastard. We’ll see what becomes of him.
Farmbaby had hit upon the idea of a tea party, so we went and had one, and then she wanted cookies, so we baked cookies and a coffee cake, and she sort of helped a little, for a while. Sort of.
So at least tomorrow’s breakfast is sorted. i am so weary i don’t know how i’m going to get enough of myself together to start thinking about setting up the yurt.
We have to try to move the sows and baby pigs tomorrow. We’re really going to try to do it by connecting their current run to the one they’re going to live in henceforth, and just leaving it all connected and letting them slowly wander over that way, and then fencing them into the new area. I doubt it will really work, but I do think it’s better than trying to get them onto a trailer, which is approximately the worst concept I can imagine.
The idea is that there’s going to be this new barn, and it’s going to have permanently-installed fencing in a couple of places, and then all the runs are just going to be that the pigs go in them and move along them, so no pigs ever have to be really herded anywhere, and above all else, no pigs ever have to be loaded into any kind of trailer, because that’s the fucking worst. So. We’ll see.
But this new barn has to happen, and I don’t know what the deal with that is but in this moment everything in the entire world seems too complicated for me to even imagine, so.
