There is a weird kind of ick to me when dog button people allude to the fact that a dog can be “taught” to communicate. As if they don’t communicate already? As if westernized Americanized human English is the be all end all of communication? Like fuck off.

#dogblr #I will only be communicating in screeching from now on #if you actually studied my body langaue you’d know what I wanted #but instead you’ll teach me to push buttons! #as allude to my ‘child like’ brain function #being serious now I hate comparisons of animal cognition to human ones #I get it’s helpful for some people to understand #but no dogs do not communicate like toddlers #they communicate like dogs actually #and there human brain is very capable of learning multiple forms of communication #whereas canines struggle to contextualize the way we do #it’s much more fair and balanced for US to learn how dogs communicate vs the other way around #also kinda weird that dog button people promote buttons like ‘disabled people use them’ #but use a dog to study how buttons can be ‘helpful’ like hmmmmmmmmmmmm
