It was certainly a surprise for the Chameleos to hear a stranger, a person, even, speak so fluently in the tongue of beasts. He could, however, understand her just fine. He would have understood her even if she used standard speech, that is how long he had been around people. Now, Mercury did not expect her to understand what he himself had said, but that hardly mattered. Whether she could comprehend his words held little importance in comparison to his grand plans.
He wanted that thing.
That... sword? Sword. Yes, upon closer examination, it indeed turned out to be a sword.
He crept closer and closer, head held high as he took one jittery step after jittery step. He waved himself back and forth as he walked, like an actual chameleon, making his approach slow and excruciatingly tedious. Suddenly he stopped, slowly lowering his head and pointing his sharp horn at his would-be prize, unaware of its true (and currently fickle) nature.
"Hey, don't worry! I'm not gonna hurt you. In fact, I wanna help...!"
He could sense her exhaustion. Mercury took another step forward, this one much more decisive, and he revealed his fangs, akin to spearheads, as he cackled. Suddenly, he appeared genuinely dangerous.
"That shiny thing you're holding... your sword... it looks so, so heavy. And you look very, very tired. Why don't you just... give it to me... Let me carry it for you...~"
There was no denying the fact fallen queen would have to deal with the many versions of her king once coming to Chaldea but to think this version existed...... She did her best to keep a neutral expression under the monk's hood before bowing.
"Pardon me your majesty," The Alter Ego spoke before moving out of the king's way to continue down the hall to her destination.
'Holy shit, Arthur is ripped.'🤝🤝🤝🤝 Source?? Me thinks this query requires further examination??? I hate that he speaks like some sheksperian buff and at one point I'll probably start to find it hot 😭. Waiting for next update with trepidation, thank you the news just made my week 🥰
You know when I chose that previous section to post, I was afraid people might think that Arthur talks like that all the time. He doesn't, of all the characters, he's the one who adjusts his speech pattern to the situation the most. He just went all formal thou/thee when Camelot MC went full horny on him. You'll get a different reaction if you chose an earlier subtle flirt instead.
Of course, if you're into that whole speech pattern, you know what you must do now.
During Emrys' rule the castle, once it was finished as construction for it was slow in comparison to the city and farms around it on his orders, was also a sort of shelter for orphan children of both noble and common birth.
Britain was not a peaceful land in those times, with many warring kingdoms and the ever-present threat of the Romans. And it was after one of these skirmishes that Emrys first met his ward/adopted son, Lot. The prince of Orkney had lost both of his parents due to his father's ambitions to claim lands and his refusal to let his wife and child remain in the northern islands. And so Emrys, the one who ended his father's goals though sadly not before the queen of Orkney was lost, took the boy into his care. A letter was sent to Orkney's steward and to Lot's uncle, explaining the situation. And with their agreement, that's how things went. Emrys educating and raising Lot to be a proper ruler, unlike his late father.
And, somehow, over time other children without families would wind up in Camelot castle to be educated and given proper care.
Uther hated it, of course, and would argue often with Emrys over it insisting that a castle was not an orphanage. But Emrys would argue back, saying that there were plenty of rooms for children who needed them. In the end many of the children would end up as apprentices for merchants or craftsmen in the kingdom, with some even choosing to undergo squire training.
Not something Emrys had planned, but if that was what they wanted he wouldn't argue.
