I made Wisteria inspired earrings using @creationismessy glass called Wisteria 😜 There’s other colors of glass mixed in there because I like variegated effects but the main beautiful purple-lavender tones come from that glass. This pair is available in my shop today. #linkinbio👆 #AlexisBerger #ガラスジュエリー #schmuckkunst #softglass #earrings #statementjewelry #statementearrings #jewelry #handmadejewelry #glassart #glassartist #glassflowers #floralglass #flameworker #handmadejewelry #cimtesting #cimwisteria #wisteria https://www.instagram.com/p/CqLRO4Hutxo/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

I made another pair of Wisteria earrings.
Wisteria is blooming everywhere in Berkeley right now and it’s so inspiring, I couldn’t help but make these.
I had to use the glass color called “wisteria” by @creationismessy to achieve this beautiful purple color, as well as mixing it with some “cleopatra” (another darker purple) to get the variegated hue you see in natural wisteria blossoms.

The most recent batch of new colors from @creationismessy has arrived for me to test and report on and I’m SO EXTRA about it!!!! These colors are incredible. I love how CIM has been focused on making luminous moonstone colors. It’s such a beautiful effect and really sets CIM apart from other lampwork glass. They have also been super committed to environmentally friendly practices and paying living wages to their employees. They are the real deal 💪❤️ The next few days will have lots of new work that will be made using these very beautiful new colors. So strap in!!! 💕❤️💚💙💛🧡❤️💜💕 #creationismessy #cimtesting #CIMglass #CIMglassrods #cimnewcolors #alexisberger #flamework #lampwork https://www.instagram.com/p/B9dTZaaB0JQ/?igshid=2ykfeonw74a0

CiM Testing: Eden
Eden is a very dense, dark transparent bottle green. The glass contains tiny particles of aventurine which give it a bit of sparkle.
In rod form the glass looks black and if you were to make a solid bead with it the resulting bead would also appear black.
These nuggety beads were made by encasing a clear glass core with a thin layer of Eden and when you hold the beads up to the light you can see their deep green tone and their subtle glimmer.
Eden is very glossy and smooth and it melted with no issues. The glass is extremely difficult to photograph, though, and I’ve been waiting for some sunshine so I could actually capture the green.
The photograph was taken indoors in natural daylight.

CiM Testing: Cerulean Sparkle
There’s not an awful lot to say about this glass. Cerulean Sparkle is a transparent aqua with the addition of aventurine. If you’re looking at the photo and wondering where the sparkle is, there isn’t any. There’s a micro-particle of spangle here and there but it’s barely noticeable. Like CiM Elixir Sparkle, I think this is because there isn’t enough aventurine in the glass.
The aqua blue colour itself is pretty and it’s a touch darker than Effetre transparent Light Aqua 034. It behaves like all other aqua glass - it doesn’t like repeated cooling and reheating because it scums if you do this, so it’s best to keep it nice and warm.

CiM Testing: Elixir Sparkle
Elixir Sparkle is CiM Elixir, a misty opal, with added aventurine. In rod form, Elixir Sparkle is quite a yellow-green and the aventurine is visible (see second photograph) and the colour darkens to a not-so-yellow green in the kiln. I assume this is due to the aventurine.
However, once the glass is melted the sparkle is pretty much invisible. This isn’t a case of me working too hot and burning the aventurine out because I work very cool and very slowly.
The only other sparkly glass I have used in the past is Vetrofond Pineapple Sparkle. That was absolutely loaded with aventurine and it glittered like Liberace in a Las Vegas mirror ball showroom. When I used Pineapple Sparkle I did nothing fancy to retain the sparkliness. It was just there - you could see the glitter in the glass in rod form, while you were melting it, while you were making your bead, and after it was annealed. Elixir Sparkle has a fraction of the aventurine of Pineapple Sparkle and I think that’s the issue - it needs a lot more aventurine in it. I couldn’t really see the aventurine while I was melting the glass and I tried my strongest macro lens on the finished beads and I saw no glimmer.
As a glass, it’s fine. It’s easy to use, fuss-free, and a very nice shade of soft green which has that translucent milkiness thing going on. It’s just lacking sparkle.

CiM Testing: Amethyst
Amethyst is a pale pinky-purple, like a very diluted version of Your Majesty. It’s similar to Effetre transparent Amethyst 040 but with less of a brown tinge and more of a pink one. Just like Your Majesty it was smooth to work with and there was no shocking or bubbling. CiM Amethyst is stiffer than Effetre Amethyst. CiM Amethyst is very clear which yeah, I know sounds really obvious when talking about transparent glass, but I mean it’s not at all foggy, wispy or bubbly.
For these beads I used a small core of CiM Desert Pink encased with a heavy layer of the Amethyst. The decoration is Effetre White 204 and the spacers are ASK 104 Passionate Pink. (ASK 104 - now there’s a glass past blast for you!)

CiM Testing: Bayou & Peppermint Cream
Bayou is a grey-green. Like a lot of opaque colours, it looks slightly paler when it’s encased. It’s a touch streaky but not as much as CiM Porpoise. I didn’t have any problems with shockiness or bubbling.
Peppermint Cream is a very very pale pastel green. It’s like a light ivory mixed with a dash of green. It works really well as stringer and it retains nice crisp edges on dots and scrollwork. The glass melted fine with no shockiness or bubble troubles.
These beads are Bayou with a thick encasing layer of Effetre Super (Crystal) Clear 006 and the decoration and spacers are Peppermint Cream.

CiM Testing: Weeping Willow & Baked Alaska
Weeping Willow is a beautiful, soft shade of green with a touch of grey to it. It’s a little streaky, but that’s opaque greens for you. It’s a trouble-free glass to use and I really like the colour.
Baked Alaska is a pastel yellow. I’m tempted to say it’s similar to Effetre opaque Opal Yellow 266 but that varies from batch to batch; I’ve had barely yellow through to pinkish-apricot yellow with that over the years. So I’ll say that Baked Alaska is similar to CiM Banana Cream in the way it behaves working-wise, but Baked Alaska is definitely more yellow.
I did a quick bead (not pictured because it rolled down the back of my workbench into Land of the Cobwebs and I cannot and will not enter that realm so the bead is lost forever) made with Baked Alaska with CiM Cranberry Pink dots on it and it does do the spreading and colour reaction thing. I’ll expand on this at a later date, so right now please think of this as placeholder information regarding Baked Alaska’s reactive properties. But yes, as a colour it is a very pleasing yellow. It melted wonderfully and I didn’t do any striking faffery; I just used the glass and it did the colour stuff for me. It looks white when it’s warm but as it cools its lovely yellowness blooms.
These beads are Weeping Willow with a heavy encasing layer of Effetre Super (Crystal) Clear 006 and polka dots and spacers in Baked Alaska.

Testing CiM Watermelon 2021 Watermelon was one of my favourite new colours last year, so I was intrigued to see it included in my test batch this year. This batch is a lighter pink and slightly more translucent than last year's batch. I've laid two rods together so that you can compare them. I always liked to use this over a small clear core as I like to see the stirations of colour, so I did the same with these beads. While the colour is lighter, it certainly still holds up. While I loved the original Watermelon, I'm also loving her new younger sister! Testing CiM Pink Pansy Pink Pansy is a lighter version of juicy pinks (Cranberry, Rubino etc). As with most glass in this colour range, I always make sure my flame leans more towards the oxidizing side of neutral to avoid any livering. I found that I had to gently strike it to get the colour; which is not unusual for this type of glass. On this bead, there were three wraps and it came out a beautiful rose shade which I'm really pleased with. A pretty glass and I like that it's a soft shade than other juicy pinks available. Testing CiM Avalon Milky & Misty More delightful misty & milly colours. Avalon is a glorious pale shade of green that lends towards a blue ice tone. The colour builds up noticeably more in the milky version, while the misty has a more ethereal effect. Both gorgeous! I am imagining these etched to look like seaglass. Now I need to go and play some more! Testing CiM Stonewashed Stonewashed is the perfect name for this glass, it looks just like your favourite pair of denim jeans that have been washed many times and fit like a glove! It's one of their new technology cloudy colours, made by mixing clear glass with coloured pigments and as a result provide us with a beautiful streaky effect glass. When used just on it's own, the blue soon builds up and gives the effect of a more solid colour. If you add it over a small clear core, it allows the light to shine through and the beautiful wispy effects are more apparent. A beautiful glass that will no doubt be popular addition to many glass studios. This melted without issue, working in a cooler flame better suited to this type of glass. Testing CiM Portal & Gossamer I adore CiM's opal colours, but there really is something special about the white ones. They really have an ethereal quality to them and even used on their own they look spectacular the way the light diffuses through them. Of the two, Portal appears to be more translucent and a touch brighter, while Gossamer leans closer to a whiter shade. I adored London Fog from the 2020 release and I really loved to use it to encase with in place of clear as it gave a softer effect. I'm going to look forward to playing more with these two colours to see what happens. Creativity is like opening a door to a magical pathway! I tried etching Gossamer and it etched well. Just before I went to post my review, I thought I'd better test Portal. So I threw a couple of spacer beads into my etching fluid, and they came out shiny. I couldn't possibly wait for a kiln cycle to be sure, so I made a paddle of teal glass with Portal dots ... and the Portal resisted etching .... hallelujah!! I will follow up with proper test bead pictures 😁 Trudi #Glitteringprizeglass #lampwork #glassbeads #creationismessy #cimglass #cimtesting #cimnewcolors #cimglass2021#cimtester #cimportal #cimgossamer (at Lamp Lodge) https://www.instagram.com/p/CM0NcjcncgN/?igshid=yt5pmxou2njj

Testing CiM Prometheus After feedback from last year's Circus Tent, CiM have produced similar styles that they call streamers ..a very fitting name don't ya think! To get the pretty streamer effect, I found rather than melting and pulling the rod around the base, I held the end of the rod in the flame until it softened and gently laid it onto the base. I also like the white base as it really showcases the beauty of this glass! An unusual glass, and fun to play with. This melted with no issues. Testing CiM Horehound, Brown Eyed Girl & Burnt Sugar In this round of colours CiM have produced 3 gorgeous transparent browns. First up we have Horehound, this is quite a light shade with yellow undertones. Burnt Sugar, also a light brown, but totally different as it has soft red tones & reminds me of caramel! Brown Eyed Girl is a much darker shade, when I first glanced at the rod I thought it may be similar to Maple ... so I did compare the two. Maple has definite khaki undertones, while BEG has warmer tones with a touch of red. Burnt Sugar felt slightly stiff (not much) and all three melted with no issues. Anyone else have the ear worm Brown Eyed Girl ... you're welcome 🎶😁 Trudi #Glitteringprizeglass #lampwork #glassbeads #creationismessy #cimglass #cimtesting #cimnewcolors #cimglass2021#cimtester #cimhorehound #cimburntsugar #cimbrowneyedgirl #cimbeeswaxmisty (at Lamp Lodge) https://www.instagram.com/p/CMpYpWKHv7V/?igshid=1332io4fv941p
