Thoughts on next ROH promotions?
The last principal promotion was very obvious, somebody with Corrales' level of talent will never have to wait long. But now, I think things could go a multiple of different ways.
Everyone seems to think Claire Calvert will go up and it certainly seems like she's being groomed for it with the rep she's being given. Her upcoming O/O will be very telling. But quite honestly, she's the only realistic principal option I see at the first soloist level currently. Everyone else either lacks the certain je ne sais quoi or has clearly flatlined at first soloist.
Reece Clark is positioned quite well to go to principal, he's strong and princely. Of course, it is quite convenient for management to promote him, given that he is the current favorite of Osipova. William Bracewell also has momentum, but I think Clark is ahead of him for multiple reasons.
Everyone loves Joseph Sissens and while his star quality is undeniable, he was only just promoted to soloist in 2021, I think he needs a bit more time to grow. ROH tends to move slow as well. The same thing applies to first soloist Calvin Richardson, another one who I see going up eventually.
I've also got my eye on Gina Storm-Jensen who is dancing a LOT now. She's getting big chances, cast as Myrtha, Lilac Fairy and basically every soloist part in Swan Lake. ROH could do with more prominent tall girls.
Ashely Dean is someone I could see promoted to soloist. In the lower ranks, I would like to see Harrison Lee and Joonhyuk Jun promoted out of the corps and given more opportunities. I've loved Sae Maeda and Yu Hang since their PDL days, fingers crossed for both of them.. And finally, if they don't keep Marco Masciari after this year...they're crazy.
