please tell me someone has this. im trying to do digging and i can tell the trpg was published in the Clamp Campus Detective Public Guide Book, but i dont think its been translated into english. but god. i want to try to run a game with this.

CLAMP Paranormal Investigations

Bear with me for some fun history about CLAMP Paranormal Investigations. First of all, this Wikipedia page (in English) only has half of the information listed for the characters and it's partially incorrect.

This was a set of CLAMP TRPG sessions played by CLAMP and Takeshi Okazaki, later novelized by Tomiyuki Matsumoto from the radio drama. There was a translation by TokyoPop, released 2004 but this version sanitizes any mention on the TRPG except for Matsumoto-san's mention about her novelization adaptaion in the back that was thankfully translated.

This brings up an issue that I hope to remedy with respect. After finding all the information I could, I believe that Yuki Ajiadou is a trans woman.

“Of course I look like a girl?” Yuki snapped. “‘Is it my fault I had the rotten luck of getting stuck with some boy’ DNA?!” Yuki’s face burned red with the heat of the insult.

That makes this book translation a bit painful to read, so that's absolutely something to keep in mind (I hope to do a re-translation at some point or even a re-novelization). Note that this session was done in 1999 and that some of the language reflects that fact, especially regarding Ajiadou-san. CLAMP has featured gender non-binary characters in the past (such as Kohaku from Wish, and Ashura from RG Veda). I feel like interpreting Ajiadou-san as a trans girl is an natural evolution of this.

In the past he had a crush on Yuki but, neither of them knew each other.

His height is 175 cm, and his weight is 62 kg.

She is so skilled in swordsmanship that she was selected as a special scholarship student for class Z, but on the other hand, her intelligence is disastrous (her intelligence rank in the TRPG is G (childlike), lower than Mitsukasa in the elementary school). However, with her lively personality and somewhat childish behavior, she is popular mainly among female students.

Height: 159 cm, and her weight is undisclosed.

She is popular among male students at school, but whenever someone with ulterior motives tries to approach her, spiritual disturbances occur around her, preventing anyone from getting close to her. Rion herself is unaware of the fact that she is liked by others.

My understanding is that there was a gaming convention and CLAMP TRPG was represented by a dedicated fan.

I've got about 50 pages of rules so it's going to take me some time manually drawing each character into google translate. Translation done by google. I don't have dependable access to a scanner but here's a shit picture as proof.

Depending on my progress for the next few days, I may start to introduce some polls about the CLAMP TRPG project.

The polls would be about "technical terms" in the game; such as Special Ability (SA) vs Special Technique (ST), 'Fate' Points vs 'Luck' Points, etc.

I'm about 10 pages away from finishing the Introduction to CLAMP TRPG; Chapter 2.

Chapter 3 is finished with Japanese transcription, but the translation is rough and still needs a good proofread for accuracy.

Chapter 5 has no progress, but it's only 20 pages of rules.

After the rules for the game are finished, I can start work on Chapter 4, which is the CLAMP Paranormal Investigations part 0.... I think? It's more for an active example of how to play the game, including the card draws and how they influence play.

The Saga of "CLAMP学園公式ガイドブック― "

Hope is not lost. I should have the book after the holiday season and translation will start promptly on the 'meat' if the translation: the playing card = keyword chart that I hypothesize is in that book.

From the available details I've been able to read from what I've found online:

Ace of Clubs: Fate/Destiny

2 of Hearts: Phenomenon

8 of Diamonds: Birth

3 of Spades: Group

The general idea of the game is that a [Scenario] is represented by three randomly drawn playing cards, and a possible coin flip to determine whether scenario is a success or fail.

For instance I draw: 2 of Hearts, 8 of Diamonds, 3 of Spades

The scenario will include: (Phenomenon), (Birth), (Group)

Possible ideas:

Girls at a sleepover trying to summon spirits with a Ouija board end up succeeding.

A weird star appears in the sky guiding three men to a baby in a hay trough.

I'll hopefully have more information about this soon. I'm honestly irrationally excited to share this Clamp TRPG with everyone. After that, it's then time to fix the blatant TokyoPop 2000's transphobia in Clamp Paranormal Investigations which lead me to learn about this TRPG to begin with.

The search for "CLAMP学園公式ガイドブック― "

I've been trying to search for a digital copy of this book, as it details a TRPG that was created by CLAMP and playable with playing cards. The book is approximately 150 pages and the only scans we have from it are from Be With You Scans, which only translated the manga section (11 pages). Thank you so much for these translations/scans, BWYS, if they didn't exist I wouldn't have confirmed existence of this book's content.

Due to the book's age (1997) and the fact that it was never reissued means this TRPG is possibly at risk of becoming lost media, thus why digital public preservation is vital. If I understand the rules of the game from ja.wiki, it's sounds like it could be easy for all ages and adapted to any universe.

If it gets found, you best be sure I'm gonna do my damnedest trying to get this translated. I would have considered this to be impossible when I started my CLAMP translation journey, but after Tokyo Babylon and xxxHolic, I feel like I can punch god....with like google translate's help and shit.

Let's find this book and bring back CLAMP TRPGs!

Excitedly waiting 6 more days for Christmas until I have the book I have been waiting for. CLAMP TRPG TIME BABY!!!

Though, in the book I'm receiving I'm hoping for an interview or two because the copyright on the book is 1997. Ali Project collaborated with CLAMP Campus Detectives and they both worked on an anime project that didn't actually get finished... "Wish"...

Well, that's my working theory.

Weird fact that one of the production studios credited in the Wish animation along with CLAMP is SHELTY CO.,LTD.

SHELTY also worked on Clamp in Wonderland 1 and one other anime that isn't CLAMP... but CLAMP might be a fan of it based on their twitter history.

So, the proof of the weirdness?

Any sane person might think at the end of the day,

"Well, Crow... It's common sense for a production company to work on more than one project. It doesn't mean the two projects are related."...

I can only find that they worked on these three projects: Wish OP/ED, Clamp in Wonderland, and Elementalors.

Even more suspiciously, SHELTY CO.,LTD are completely absent from JP wiki and I cant find shit about this company at all. Possibly defunct. I know how to get information but this is a literal information blackhole, plus being on JP internet is its own clusterfuck. Any more details would greatly be appreciated as I love getting more information.

MAIN THEORY:

Wish was partially in development one point. It would have been overwhelming to try to do Clamp Campus Detectives and Wish so CLAMP had to make a choice; Cancel one series to dedicate time to the other. They decided to work on some of Wish incase they could come back to it; an OST with Ali Project and even an animated opening and ending with SHELTY CO.,LTD. Proof of this anime's existence would be animation cels of scenes unseen in the opening or ending, but I have never seen them in my searches. If cels did exist of this project, it would most likely be kept by CLAMP.

Ali Project even made a opening and ending song for Wish specifically: Wish, Angel Egg no Tsukurikata ~ for Ruri & Hari, and even more instrumental tracks that would be perfect for an anime) indicating they had more plans for Wish. Ali Project also worked on Clamp Campus Detectives since Wish wasn't going to plan.

Ali Project's 1998 album, Noblerot features art from CLAMP. I always wondered about this particular artwork and why it was made for Ali Project. With this theory, it makes a bit of sense because it was a "Thank You" to Ali Project's musical contributions for Clamp Campus Detectives, but possibly for doing so much for Wish, the cancelled anime series. In a way, Ali Project believed in CLAMP's cancelled anime Wish; developed an album and encouraged them even though it didn't work out. That lead them to do the opening for Clamp Campus Detectives, since they already wanted to collaborate.

Yeah, I know its a crazy theory. Thank you for sticking around for this. It's been about 25 years now and I want some answers to the rumors of the 90's about my favorite gender-neutral angel that.... defs doesn't look like Kakyoin... at all. That may have been the reason for cancellation too.... shit.

Hard drive failure happened. Clamp TRPG project is safe (thanks to Google drive and having the physical book). Though, I've potentially lost a ton of CLAMP data that was very difficult to locate (X² LD rip, Wish VHS rip, JP manga scans for translations, numerous art books).

Thankfully, I have a few options and en route to the first recovery attempt.

Learn from my fuckups. Back up your shit. Always.

Update:

Well, there's some good news and some bad news. Both drives are dead, but the data is possibly intact. We are going to attempt a board swap eventually, hoping that a fried board is the culprit. Since this was a Power Supply Unit short that took them out, it makes data recovery a bit more possible.

The trick is finding the exact same board, especially because.... one drive is a bit... atypical.
