time travel arccccccccccccc yessssssssss

I have been waiting SO LONG to reread this arc hhhhh yessss

starting off strong with the sexy roller cover. nice

I love the disconnect of ‘orion pax: outlaw’ compared to the last time we saw him in shadowplay where he was orion pax: supercop

he’s still punching people for JUSTICE or whatever so I guess not much has changed

oh my god this is the issue with the many many two-page spreads...the first time I read this issue I didn't realize that was a thing and GOD I was SO fucking confused. there's already a lot going on in this issue/arc but this made things so much worse hvbhjkdfbsk. I powered thru and still managed to understand most of the arc despite reading half this issue out of order (essentially) bc the website I read it on split the pages up and I couldn't tell they were supposed to be doubled (and also I'm dumb so I didn't figure it out)

anyways, the actual issue...windcharger is out here using his powers to rip a dudes arms clean off. wow!

and there's skids getting punched in the face. Ls

and glitch! a totally minor character of course...

MANNNNN I SO adore the panel of all the lost lighters appearing in a cloud of purple smoke, all posing epically....SO fucking good, peak sci-fi coolness vibes, A++

as usual jro killing it w/the titles, ‘elegant chaos’ is such a great name for a time travel arc

also reading the tfwiki has shown me that many of jros titles are song or album titles, to which I say - that's epic and I love it. with jro doing it, I feel like it straddles the line between referencing music and the very fanfic-esque ‘title things after music’ vibe. I love it

oh god I forgot they use bs cybertronian time units in this sometimes lmao...I mean of course they do but still like, what the fuck is a cycle. is that a day. I feel like these words all have no meaning/the meanings change drastically depending on continuity. I cant keep up and also I'm lazy and don't care enough to try

I really like the mtmte approach to time travel and paradoxes and whatnot. its just complex enough to be interesting but not too convoluted that it bogs down the story. perfect sci-fi fun!

mannnn chromedome talking abt brainstorm :( I'm sad abt those two hhhhh

and I love how at this point, nobody in the cast ACTUALLY knows brainstorm well enough to know what he’s really doing - including chromedome, who’s ostensibly his closest friend, somebody he’s known for a while - and even the readers don't really know what he’s up to...I like the mystery tbh

cant believe rewind wrote orion pax’s biography, omg. completely forgot abt that detail

cd saying ‘I love it when he talks history’ about rewind....hhhh I love cdrw so muuuuch

godddd the line rodimus says abt whirl - how they need people like whirl around who are ‘happy to get in the way’ of danger and death - that shit haunts me man like...rodimus is basically saying that he’s bringing whirl along to potentially die in place of someone like orion pax (nevermind the fact that whirl dying would ALSO fuck up the timeline)...like, how deep does it go?? is he saying that bc he knows whirl has been trying to get himself killed for a while now, or just bc whirl likes violence? mannn I cant...the character intricacies...man

anyways...I love rodimus he’s such an interesting character. you have that fucked up moment and then in the next panel he’s saying ‘if you want to call it a time phone, I wont stop you’ about the quantum walkie-talkie. he has the RANGE

oh and then rodimus casually volunteering chromedome to do mnemosurgery on anyone who might accidentally find out about them time traveling, which is again fucked up on multiple levels. the raaaaange

vjaksbhdhfusajbfdjk that panel of the lost light squad just standing there like idiots reminds me of that post where someone said abt that panel ‘these characters have a collective 3 brain cells’ or something hvbjadkfnksfdl

rodimus IMMEDIATELY breaking his own rules by trying to reassure pax that they're good guys by pointing at his autobot badge, even tho the autobots DONT EVEN EXIST YET at this point...my boy PLEASE go purchase some brain cells from the store

and the fact that rodimus introduced himself to pax w/his real name...shouldn't he go by an alias or st??? that seems like a good time travel rule since optimus and rodimus definitely know each other later

and like, did they not anticipate that some of the people in the past would recognize some of the lost lighters hgbajkhdjfnjksf like cd and whirl get Instantly recognized...great job guys

they are all SO bad at this hvbahskjdhfbasjkf I cantttt luckily for them the orion crew is handing them easy alibis

AUGHHH and then we jump to rodimus ONCE AGAIN breaking his own rules and trying to save trailbreaker...IT HURTS MAN...god I love rodimus, I feel like him being broken up about crewmembers like trailbreaker dying is one part regular sadness over people he knows dying for tragic reasons, and one part personal guilt at someone under his command dying, even if he’s not involved/at fault. I love the dichotomy of this emotional reaction that comes only partially from empathy/emotion, but also comes from a kinda self-centered need for success as measured by people under your command staying alive. and taking into account rodimus’s life it totally makes sense that he’d act like that...GAH I love it. the complexity of it all!

I do love the semi-campy action hero antics that orion pax gets up to. its just so fun, even when the stakes are high and things are serious

oh man that last panel of trailbreaker holding up roller’s juice box...iirc the first time I read this I thought that was roller (cause of the juice box I guess? idk I'm an idiot) so I was like oh ok he must've come back or something. very much related but I didn't really think about tarn being a particular pre-established character and totally didn't read the whole ‘roller is tarn’ thing that was going on

which in my defense ruth also didn't pick up on any of that while reading this and eventually like 2 issues before the reveal I had to prompt her like ‘you should maybe be wondering WHO tarn is’ vhbahjksdfbaksjdf

so! issue 37! this issue is a solid favorite of mine, id say definitely top 5 or even 3. I'm super biased bc I fucking LOVE time travel, it’s seriously one of my favorite tropes ever, and this issue hits all the time travel beats I love. characters traveling to the past and interacting with people they know! conversations that have multiple meanings bc of TIME TRAVEL! trying to save someone who meets a terrible fate in your future! fun time travel action! the time traveling characters being generally terrible at hiding the fact that they're time travelers! ITS SO GOOD.

and I love the clever way everything is tied together here - where we get a nice continuation of shadowplay, with this taking place shortly after that with a lot of the same cast, and time travel classics like the good ole ‘if we hadn't travelled back in time and done what we did, the future we came from wouldn't have existed at all,’ in the flavor of ‘rodimus saving his baby self’ and ‘rodimus NOT saving trailbreaker’ and ‘everyone forgot about roller :(’

ok but like, did the lost lighters just go ‘oh well, guess rollers gone now.’ like they DID realize that the outlaw crew would have no idea what happened to him if they got their memories erased, right?? did the lost lighters figure that since roller never reappeared after this time period, that was how history was ‘supposed’ to go and they shouldn't mess with it? am I overthinking it? as usual: yes, probably. I love overthinking about comics, in case that wasn't obvious

basically...I love this issue soooo much. so so good and a bunch of fun tropes that I love. I mean the whole arc is like that for me since I love time travel so much. so I cant wait to (re)read more!!

OLI’s loft tour!

things to acknowlege before we get started:

i’m so proud of how i furnished it, it kind of looks homey and lived in - which i can never do in the sims 4. it would be lovely for ur support <3

i kind of got lazy and insecure about my building skills, so i used the shell of “Bear and Bun”’s Korean Apartment build. the only thing i added was the layout of the place.

sims 4 is limited with how i wanted to perceive oliver’s apartment, but i tried to make it as close as to what i imagine it.

i got inspired by @/scnorize and @/hbh-entertainment cr goes all to them!

i was thinking of making his studio at timed nation’s main building, let me know if you would like to see that!

⇁ the FIRST floor.

it consists of a kitchen/dining area, a living space, the only bathroom in the place and a small balcony. i did not take pictures of the balcony as there was not much on it - he prefers to stay indoors. however he does pop out there for a smoke...

however he bought the place bcus he liked the view of the balcony and where it was located, not near central seoul - but in the well-off neighbourhoods.

like all korean apartments, there’s an electric keypad to enter the place. only taeyong, oliver and sejin know of the password

he styled the place similar to his personality, simple yet sudden pops of colours.

he’s got a liquor shelf just right next to his living room as he often hosts small parties and get-togethers at his place, timed nation’s producers often hang out here before or after clubbing

as you can see, there’s a computer on the kitchen island, this is the “live broadcast” area where he often goes on instagram lives - if he’s not in his studio

⇁ the SECOND floor.

consists of his bedroom and closet/storage space.

at first he did not know what to do with the large space at the back of the 2nd floor, but he decided to merge it into two. he loves collecting art and plants, and is a big fan of harry potter. so he’s scattered all his bits and bobs in the closet space

the hosts of ‘i live alone’ pointed out his collection of art and had a little laugh at his hoarding habits (episode coming soon)

his bedroom is his least favourite space, don’t get him wrong but he only sleeps here and hangs with tyong here....they often sleep here when taeyong has free time and they mess about...the only plus side of the room is the memories he’s created with ty.

his bedroom smells of flowers and his favourite incense - a soft vanilla.

⇁ entrance, kitchen and dining.

where he spends most of his time, he likes to cook as a way to de-stress - that’s why he liked the large kitchen. moving about in a large space makes him at ease

he really loves neon signs, putting one in front of the sink makes him a tad more happier.

the computer is often stored in the storage space below, so there’s space to eat for two on the small island. however when he has friends over, he pulls out the fold-up table and they eat delivery food on there

as you can see there is art work near the front door, he was gifted it by sejin on his 22nd birthday and since then he’s been collecting

the liquor shelf was also pointed out by the ‘i live alone’ hosts, and oliver began to blush and get flustered at their jokes

there’s literally 3 plants in the kitchen space alone, as u can see - he can never stop...he thinks of them as his pets

⇁ the living space!

aka my favourite space, purely bcus of the entertainment area

if you look closely, there’s a vintage music player just below the tv, that is oliver’s most prized possession. it’s probably the thing he’s spent most on in the house, it’s from around the 70s and was imported to korea from london. it’s got a few scratches from the eras its lived through and oliver loves playing his vinyls on it every morning

there’s some more artwork stored underneath the stairs, as well as one more plant and oliver’s first guitar from when he was a teenager.

there’s a neon sign behind the stairs, another excuse for light and ‘serotonin’ according to oliver...

⇁ bathroom

my second favourite space, it’s so simple and chic. it’s obvious that oliver lee designed the space.

the black and white with hints of brown and pops of colour accentuate the place and make it look clean

he originally was going for a black and white boring look, but taeyong encouraged him to spice up the space - we all know how the younger is obsessed with doodles and bright colours...you’ll probably spot a cute doodle of taeyong’s somewhere in here

the shower space is a very eventful space.................( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) after the bedroom obviously....

sexy shower scene in ‘i live alone’ had the girls screaming and partially as to why the young producer garnered a following of korean fans

did i mention PLANTS

⇁ on to the good stuff: bedroom

his favourite movie poster over his fake studio space, he built a tiny weeny studio for emergencies and 5am “i changed my mind about those beats”

his camera is on the shelf above the table space and has the rest stored downstairs in the extra island space

my god this boy is obsessed with plants, “it’s a mother-fucking jungle” sejin’s words of beauty

the fairy lights, taeyong’s idea. the dude practically lives in his apartment, he even handpicked the carpet and which artwork to place in the bedroom.

the bed: taeyong and oliver are often cuddling here, sleeping, thinking, late night chats and laughter, hungover sleeps, and the cliche things couples do when on a bed.

in the mornings, oliver often is sitting with his confused puffy face, messed up hair and ridden shirt staring out the window - he looks peak baby then

barely sleeps here anyway since he’s always making music or at timed nation’s headquarters taking the piss out of his best-friend sejin and being the “not CEO but everyone thinks i am so i’ll just be the Chill one.”

the largest room in the world: closet/storage

did i mention: ART

this room was empty for MONTHS, until he asked his mum to send him all his harry potter posters in the mail

his clothing rack is not that sparse in real life, it’s ram-packed with clothes, designer and cheap brands

this room smells like chanel male cologne “bleu de chanel” he smells like that. the large mirror where he often poses and takes ootd but never posts cause it would ruin his professional image...

you can’t see it as i took this in an awkward angle but behind the camera there are postcards and small artworks he’s pinned on a cork board as well as polaroids of his adventures with friends and family

he likes this room very much and would love to add more to it in the future

Also this story references beloved Thanksgiving TV special “A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving”. Hopefully even if you have’t seen it, you can still enjoy the story!

"Hey Dallon," you greeted your neighbor as you hurried inside to get out of the chilly late November air. "Oh, hey (YN), he smiled from his mailbox. "How's it going?" Every time he smiled at you it make your heart skip. Dallon was always so nice when you ran into him in the halls or the laundry room of your apartment building, always happily making time to talk to you. "Good, I guess. Going home for Thanksgiving?" "No, I've got work stuff on Wednesday and we have a show on Friday night. You?" "No, I thought I was being clever buying a plane ticket early to go with my ex to their parents house for Thanksgiving, but then we broke up like a month later and I can't afford to change the ticket," you said forlornly, your gaze drifting to the floor. "Oh I'm sorry," Dallon replied. When you looked up, he was looking on you with sympathetic eyes. "Its ok, I'm going home for Christmas, so that's fine," you shrugged. "I'm gonna spend the day relaxing and I'm watch the Charlie Brown Thanksgiving special. Its my favorite thing about the holiday anyway," you smiled. Dallon nodded before glancing at his watch. "Sorry, but I gotta get going. I'll talk to you later, ok?" "Yea, sure. See ya," you waved before turning to head up to your apartment. ~ You were settling in for the evening when there was an unexpected knock on the door. "Hey Dallon," you smiled when you opened the door. "Hey, I was wondering since you're alone on Thanksgiving if you want to come over for dinner that night?" "Oh! Umm sure, that sounds great!" You replied. "Can I bring anything?" "Nope, I got it all handled," Dallon smiled mischievously. "Ok then, what time?" You laughed. "Six work for you?" "Sure, I'll be there," you smiled up at him. "See ya then," he said, returning your smile. ~ You had spent most of your Thanksgiving morning texting with your friend Christine. She was at her boyfriend Frank's house for the holiday, but when you had said you needed help picking the right outfit for your dinner with 'the most gorgeous man alive' she was more than happy to help. ‘That's way too fancy!’ ‘Are you going to his place for dinner or to do laundry? Put in a little effort!’ ‘Frank says thats sexy so probably not first date material. Wait is this a date?’ Were some of the responses you received on the outfits you sent her. ‘How about this?’ You sent along with a photo of your dark red sweater and jeans. ‘Perfect mix of cute and casual, 100% approve. Frank says you look cute too’ You grinned at the response, sending back a quick thank you, and finished getting ready. Promptly at six you arrived at Dallon's door. Even though he said you didnt need to bring anything, you had made a plate of frosted sugar cookies. "Happy Thanksgiving!" He greeted you warmly. "You too! I know you said not to bring anything, but my mom would be disappointed in me if I didn't," you said offering up the cookies. Dallon smiled. "Not a problem, it will fit in with the meal nicely." You followed him into his apartment and took it in. It was the same layout as yours, but was cozier than you imagined it would be. It smelled of clean laundry and surprisingly, toast. That's when you saw the table. There was a plate full of slices of buttered toast, bowls of pretzel sticks, popcorn, and jelly beans. The scene was totally bizarre to you until it clicked. "Is this the feast from Charlie Brown Thanksgiving?" You asked in awe. To your own surprise you felt yourself getting a little choked up and hoped he wouldn't notice. Dallon laughed. "I was worried you wouldn't get it and think I was crazy." "No, this is so cool that you thought to do this," you said trying to subtly wipe at the tear threatening to spill over. You both loaded up plates with treats, leaving room for ice cream sundaes for dessert, and headed to his couch where he had the Charlie Brown special queued and ready to be watched. "Thanks again for inviting me over and doing all this for me, I mean its way more than I would have expected anyone to do for me," you said after the show finished, starting to feel choked up again. You meant it, you were not used to people being so thoughtful toward you. On top of the loneliness you had thinking you’d spend the holiday alone, you were feeling more emotional than usual. "I don't think anyone should be alone on the holidays," Dallon replied and paused. "And I've been trying to think of a way to ask if you would want to go out with me." "Really?" You couldn't believe someone as kind and beautiful as Dallon would want to ask you out, let alone be nervous to do so. "Yea, I really like you (YN)," he replied glancing down at his lap nervously. You reached out and touched his arm and he looked up at you. "I'd very much like to go out with you Dallon," you said softly. In an instant, the concern and nervousness that seemed to cloud him lifted and he smiled brightly. He lifted his hand and brushed your hair behind your ear and you reflexively leaned into the touch. His fingertips ghosted over the side of your neck and you were leaning in. His lips met yours softly, holding back at first, but then moving against yours with more assurance as he could feel you smiling. "I was wondering if you wanted to come to my show tomorrow night, maybe grab dinner, a real dinner before?" Dallon asked when you finally pulled back from the kiss. "That sounds like a wonderful idea," you smiled. He grinned back and pulled you in for another kiss.
