HOLIDAY REMINISCENCE
Tumblr media
desc :: Azul recalls his memories of the holidays back in the Coral Sea.
note/s :: this is @autistic-azul ‘s secret santa! I hope you liked it! I’m not particularly sure if I wrote them well since this is only my second tome writing Azul but I hope it’s still good!

The sound of a pen gliding across paper could be heard as Azul did the paperwork for Mostro Lounge. He quickly made calculations in his mind on the profits he made that day and thought of ways for improvement, wishing for Mostro Lounge to make a bigger profit.
His sky blue eyes drifted to the side and saw his phone, displaying the date tomorrow. It was almost December, the holiday season. Since the rest of the students will be at home with their families, it’s going to be difficult for him to make a profit from the Mostro Lounge. His fingers tapped the wood, contemplating what he should do. It just wasn’t in his nature to sit back and relax. He felt that there was always something that could be done at any opportunity. This was especially true for a business such as him. Since it was holiday season, it’s obvious he should do something around that, but what exactly?
Azul didn’t have particularly fond memories of the holiday season. Since his parents ran a ristorante, they were often working during December and he was left at home. The other mer-children had taken this opportunity to bully him even more since he didn’t have his parents. They’d tell him the usual “Ew his tentacles are so creepy” or that he was a stupid, clumsy octopus. But what stung the most was what they told him during the season, “Your parents don’t even love you enough to stay for the holidays because you’re so pathetic!”
He huffed at the thought. Look who's laughing now. He’s a dorm leader at one of the most prestigious academies in Twisted Wonderland who ran two businesses. They were the ones that were pathetic.
But thinking back, not all those memories were such sour ones.
Azul recalled how he spent his first Christmas with the Leech twins. They’d invited him over for dinner and even gave him a few gifts. He had been so suspicious of them at the time, demanding to know what they wanted in return since no one is ever that nice to him for free. The two of them looked so amused with him, which didn’t help his suspicions.
However, they’ve been with him for this long, following him to NRC and Octavinelle. They’ve spent a lot of time together. And while he wouldn’t necessarily call them friends, they were still two people who have earned his trust in doing the things he requires them to do. If the time comes that they decide to usurp his position, he’ll make sure he puts up a good fight. After all, that’s what they all wanted.
“Ne, ne, Azul, you’re still here~?” Floyd’s all-too-familiar voice could be heard as he entered the room with Jade following him closely. “Don’t you wanna come and eat with us?”
He shook his head, keeping his composure. “No, I’ve taken in enough calories for this day.”
“Eeeeh? But you always say that.” He was whining, again. This was probably the umpteenth time he’s done it this week. “It’s fine if you eat a little more once in a while~”
Before he could retort, Jade chuckled. “Fufu, I think it’s best we leave him be for now. He seems quite busy.”
Azul shut his mouth, relieved that his vice dorm leader is more understanding than him.
“After all—” He smirked. “Azul will have to eat with us more during the holidays. I’m sure that’s fair if we’ve been working so hard for you these past weeks.”
The octo-mer scowled, but nodded. It’s not like he can argue with Jade. He knew how to use his own logic against him. He adjusted his glasses. “Fine. It’s not like I can change your mind at this point.”
“Yaay~” Floyd cheered.
“We’ll look forward to it, Azul,” Jade told him. They turned around and left.
Once again, Azul was left alone in his office. He stared at the door they left through for a few moments.
A ghost of a smile appeared on his lips.
The holidays weren’t so bad.
