i might be a little bit deranged at this point but hear me out

i like to think that absolutely everything in dishonored (2012) was put there deliberately.

listen. the very first mission. dishonored. you wake up in the cell and when you look outside the window the sun is JUST around the corner of the huge building a couple of rays get through but it feels like such a tangible painful "almost" and i'm going completely bonkers fucking look at it. it’s RIGHT there but not QUITE. barely any rays of light get to touch corvo’s face while he is the cell but if the window was just a Little bit to the right he would get to see the sun but it isn’t.

the quote right in the cell. there are many messages and graffiti in the game which are repetitive, you see them everywhere all the time. but the "we all start with innocence but the world leads us to guilt" only ever appears here on this wall and it's the first message you see in the game

the way you trudge through the sewers and there is gradually more and more light as you get closer to the end of the mission. one of the first gifsets i ever did of this game was one where i tried to capture that [here if you’re curious]. how you start in the dark and the first light source is a flickering canal light and then you get glimpses of the light from the outside, like through the grate and then you have to trudge some more underground and you are always So close to the surface but not quite and then you get to the end and it’s just. *chef’s kiss*
