complaining again! i don't think some people understand that it's fine and can be very fun to twist mythological figures around for the purposes of modern fiction. no one is getting upset over disney's hercules or anything. but it becomes misinformation when you try to pretend that the twisted version that modern fiction presents has mythological basis.

#no medusa was not blessed by minerva so that no man would ever harm her again #it was expliclty a punishment bc thats unfortunately how things tend to go in greek and ROMAN myths #and no medusa's head was not used to mark women's shelters in ancient greece #the gorgon head was a very common adornment for all sorts of buildings in ancient greece #no persephone didn't wander down into the underworld on her own and decide to stay #she was abducted and taken there against her will #and no she didn't secretly wish to get away from her awful bitch mother demeter #she missed her mother greatly while in the underworld and was overjoyed to see her again #did i miss anything? any more very common mythological inaccuracies bc i got the two big ones #i speak #greek mythology #roman mythology
