DJBC Tumblr Fall & Summer 2022 - 934 Fest
Also on the weekend after Labor Day was the annual 934 Fest, held at 934 Gallery (934 Cleveland Avenue) in Milo-Grogan. A lot of people do not know where this area is on the map, but pass through it along I-71 (which literally cut the neighborhood in half in the early 1960s). But Milo-Grogan is north of the Discovery District, east of Italian Village, northwest of Bronzeville, and south of Linden and the Ohio State Fairgrounds, for those who did not know the answer.
934 Fest gets its name from 934 Gallery, which is at 934 Cleveland Avenue. Inside the Gallery, there were a couple of pop-up vendors, and the current exhibition up in the Gallery (plus restrooms, for those who didn't want to use the Port-a-Potties). Outside the Gallery, there were murals (also along the adjacent buildings, as well), live music (or in the case of our Sunday afternoon stroll, live DJ's).
And yes, that Bloody Mary looked classy enough to qualify as a meal, given the statuesque garnish to add some flare to this tiny little festival.

DJBC Tumblr Fall/Summer 22 - The Hot Times Festival 2022
The Hot Times Festival returned to its familiar home of the grounds of the Columbus Health Department, the weekend after Labor Day. After a virtual event in 2020, and a scaled back event held at a former elementary school in 2021, it was exciting to see the return of the Near East Side staple festival, returning to its long-time home.
The Main Stage Headliners were Willie Phoenix (Friday), The Deal Breakers (Saturday), and The Ark Band (Sunday). Saturday evening featured the return of the Nancy Wilson Tribute Show, which also took place last year, when the festival was held a few blocks north over at the site of the former Douglass Elementary School (and future site of the Columbus Recreation and Parks Creative Campus). The Columbus Free Press Second Saturday Salon was held in person on the steps of the Health Department,
Friday evening saw the return of the Comfest Volunteer Appreciation Night, as Comfest was held in-person in June for the first time since 2019.
Here are highlights over the course of the three-day weekend.
There are once again hot times again in the Olde Towne Tonight.

DJBC Tumblr Summer & Fall 22 - The Columbus Podcast Awards
The Columbus Podcast Awards, in its third year, is an awards show celebrating all things (local) podcasts.
The DJBC Happy Hour did submit for the first time, and while the show did not place among the top four finalists, were inspired by the awards to produce a cold open for their show for September.
The ceremony was emceed by Joseph Moorer from "The Podcast About Everything" (yes, it's a real podcast), with music by Weezee and The Romantic Hours. The awards were held at the Historic Lincoln Theatre in the Ballroom (worth checking out).
But, special thanks go out to our loyal fanbase of the last 12 seasons, (now-Tennessee Titans running back) Hassan Haskins for slicing holes through Ohio State's Swiss Cheese defense (the why behind Show # 402, which was also the why we wanted to submit this year), and WCRS for hoisting us up for all these years. Shout-out to our fellow Otterbein alumni podcast, CBJectively Speaking for winning Entertainment Podcast, and fellow Otterbein alum podcasts, The Dadass Podcast and Speak Easily with Krista Stauffer for making the top four, and fellow WCRS Monday Night Show, First You Hustle for returning to the top four.
Afterwards, we skipped across Broad Street, and walked down to the Hot Times Festival, and our "Local Band of the Summer", The Deal Breakers were the Saturday night headliners there.
We're doing the Bryan Awards, so it can be uploaded and released for International Podcast Day next Friday, so we'll either be back with new shows on October 3 or 10.

Sneak Preview - College Gameday: Notre Dame at Ohio State
It has been 27 years since the Notre Dame Fighting Irish have come to Columbus. 1995 was when Eddie George (# 27 for Ohio) let one rip for 61 yards, en route to a Heisman season, and a 45-26 Ohio win over the Fighting Irish.
Notre Dame has not beaten Ohio since 1936. And a huge upset win tonight would propel talks of the Irish being persuaded to join the Big Ten. After all, starting next year, NBC will be airing Big Ten games in Primetime. And NBC has been airing Notre Dame home games since the early '90s. Coincidence?
Tonight, the 2002 National Championship Ohio Team will be honored, and members of that team and coaching staff are in town this weekend talking about the rabbit they pulled out of a hat in the Arizona Desert in the 2003 Fiesta Bowl. Tonight's game also kicks off the Centennial Celebration for Ohio Stadium, whose field is now sponsored by Safelite.
Prediction: Notre Dame 38, Ohio 34 (Just because...)
(Prediction for Michigan's game against Colorado State at Noon; Michigan 38, Colorado State 24; Colorado State has 59 new players, some of them transfers from Nevada, where new CSU coach Jay Norvell coached last year; Cade McNamara will start today, then J.J. McCarthy will start the Hawaiian Roast Luau next Saturday night against Hawaii.)
# 5 Notre Dame Fighting Irish at # 2 Ohio State Buckeyes; 7:30PM EDT on ABC - tonight

I guess we CAN'T go back home for National Radio Day. But, for the last two and a half years (and 100 shows), we've been winging it from our Virtual Home Studios.
But, Happy National Radio Day!
