You know, in retrospect, I think my favorite bit of Fandom Revisionism by the old Undertale fandom was Chara's eye-color, and the idea that Chara had some variation of red eyes.
Like, actually look at Chara's sprite for a moment.
Tumblr media
Chara is depicted with dark brown eyes, both in their normal expression, as well as their jumpscare sprites.
The same goes for Frisk, actually, who's sprite also portrays them with dark brown eyes.

So then, why did years and years of fanart portray Chara as having red eyes? Was there a motive behind it? Was it the secret evil agenda of the fools who slandered the poor child and tried to make us think they were evil?
No, because even back then most of the people who didn't see Chara as evil still depicted them with red eyes. The community effectively gaslit themselves into thinking it, and this is why;

The "Soulless Pacifist Ending" as we've collectively dubbed it, is the only time in the game Chara is depicted with Red Eyes, and truth be told, I think it was just a stylistic thing. If I had to guess, it was just a way to show Chara's possession over Frisk, and red was used since it's the same color as their Souls.
Still, this was effectively the reason most people gave Chara red eyes for years on end, and I think that's kinda interesting, ngl.
This is also probably why people assume there's a deeper relationship between Chara and Kris in Deltarune (since Kris ACTUALLY has red eyes)
Tumblr media
I mean granted, there probably is, but its not cuz of the eyes guys.
Or maybe it is the eyes.
I dunno.
