Earvin "Magic" Johnson
'No mamma, diglielo tu'. E lei: 'Magic, sei il mio giocatore preferito'."

"That's Magic" - Larry realizes he might like this guy after all
Scribbled this comic a long time ago, decided to clean it up really quickly. Will draw the actual day they spent together *someday*. This is all largely words that Larry has actually said.

FredFilms Postcards Series 5.5
Surrounded by sports fans (nuts?), I haven’t cared a hoot since the 1961 New York Yankees (Mantle, Maris, Whitey, Elston, Yogi, Casey and the gang).
So why Magic?
Recently, my wife ran into him bagging his own groceries. For me, I haven’t ever had as nice an encounter with a celebrity as I did with Earvin at the VMAs one year, when he was worried he’d taken my seats (he didn’t, and I got his magic smile in return). And the capper was how engaged I was with Jim Hecht’s and Max Borenstein’s HBO docu-drama “Winning Time.” Definitely not just for sport nuts.
And there was that smile again.
.....
From the postcard back:
Congratulations! You are one of 125 people to receive this limited edition FredFilms postcard!

Latest books you have been reading?
Apparently I haven't shared the books I've been recently reading since the beginning of November. Usually someone reminds me to share my reading list every few weeks, so I think someone should be fired for dereliction of duty.
•Life After Power: Seven Presidents and Their Search for Purpose Beyond the White House (BOOK | KINDLE | AUDIO) by Jared Cohen -- Just released on February 13th, this is the follow-up to Cohen's excellent 2019 book, Accidental Presidents: Eight Men Who Changed America (BOOK | KINDLE | AUDIO).
•Borgata: Rise of Empire: A History of the American Mafia (BOOK | KINDLE) by Louis Ferrante.
•Soldier of Destiny: Slavery, Secession, and the Redemption of Ulysses S. Grant (BOOK | KINDLE) by John Reeves.
•The Border: A Journey Around Russia Through North Korea, China, Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Ukraine, Belarus, Lithuania, Poland, Latvia, Estonia, Finland, Norway, and the Northeast Passage (BOOK | KINDLE) by Erika Fatland -- A couple of months ago, I mentioned how much I enjoyed reading Erika Fatland's Sovietistan, and I was equally pleased with The Border, which has a subtitle nearly as long as the Russian border that she wrote about traveling around.
•Unruly: The Ridiculous History of England's Kings and Queens (BOOK | KINDLE | AUDIO) by David Mitchell.
•The Fall of Eagles: The Death of the Great European Dynasties by C.L. Sulzberger.

Los Angeles Lakers: A Legacy of Excellence
The Los Angeles Lakers are one of the most storied franchises in all of professional sports. With a rich history dating back to 1948, the Lakers have won 17 NBA championships, the most of any team in league history. They are also one of the most popular teams in the NBA, with a passionate fan base that spans the globe.
Early Years (1948-1960)
The Lakers were founded in Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1948. They joined the NBA as one of the league's original nine teams. The Lakers struggled in their early years, but they found success in the mid-1950s. Led by George Mikan, the Lakers won four consecutive NBA championships from 1952 to 1954.
The Showtime Era (1972-1991)
The Lakers entered another period of dominance in the 1970s. Led by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Magic Johnson, and Earvin "Magic" Johnson, the Lakers won six NBA championships during this era. The Lakers' fast-paced, high-scoring style of play was known as "Showtime," and it made them one of the most exciting teams to watch in NBA history.
The Shaq-Kobe Era (1996-2004)
The Lakers returned to prominence in the late 1990s with the arrival of Shaquille O'Neal and Kobe Bryant. The two young superstars formed one of the most dominant duos in NBA history, and they led the Lakers to three consecutive NBA championships from 2000 to 2002.
Recent Years (2004-Present)
The Lakers have struggled in recent years, but they remain one of the most popular teams in the NBA. They won their most recent NBA championship in 2020, led by LeBron James and Anthony Davis.

💥MY TOP 5 GREATEST NBA PLAYERS OF ALL TIME💥
#EMTECH
#1STBLOG
1. MICHAEL JORDAN - "THE GOAT"
This man is arguably the Greatest Basketball Player to ever set foot on Earth. Wins 3 rings in a row then retired and when he came back, they win another 3 rings. So this man have a 6-0 record in the Finals. He won a Defensive Player of the Year Award in 1988 along with his 5 MVPs, 6 FMVPs with his 10 Scoring Titles and was named to the NBA's 75th Anniversary Team and if I mention all of MJs accomplishments and achievements it's gonna take years.
2. LEBRON JAMES - "THE KING" "THE CHOSEN ONE"
They are only 2 players who are in the conversation of being the "GOAT" or the Greatest Of All Time. It's Lebron and Michael, You can't hate someone when they put Lebron in their Top 1 because when you say greatness it's a crime to leave The King behind. For me what secured his spot in the "GOAT CONVERSATION" with MJ was his performance in 2016 when he led the Cleveland Cavaliers back from a 3-1 deficit against the 73-win Golden State Warriors. He was a 4x Nba Champion, 4x Nba Finals MVP, 4x Nba MVP, 19x Nba All Star, 19 All Nba Selection and was named to the NBA's 75th Anniversary Team. He also surpass Kareem Abdul-Jabbar for the All Time Leading Scorer. Greatness.
3. KAREEM ABDUL-JABBAR - "THE TOWER FROM POWER"
The former NBA's All Time Leading Scorer and the inventor of one of the most iconic move in Basketball History, the "Classical Sky Hook" it was his move on his road to 38, 387 career points. He was an 6x Nba Champion, 2x Nba Finals MVP, 6x Nba MVP, 19x Nba All Star, 20x All Nba Selections and was named to the 75th Nba Anniversary Team. Old but Gold.
4. EARVIN JOHNSON - "MAGIC"
The Best Point Guard of All Time. Just think about how incredible it is that in his first season in the legue, Magic startd Game 6 of the NBA Finals at center and dropped 42 points. He won 5 NBA Championships, 3 Nba Finals MVP, 3 Nba MVP, 12 Nba All Star Appearances and 10 All Nba Selections. He also was named in the 75th Nba Anniversary Team. Magic. Showtime.
5. KOBE BRYANT - "THE BLACK MAMBA"
First of All, Rest in Peace to the Mamba himself Kobe Bean Bryant. He is one of the most iconic names in all Basketball History. Many kids idolized him for his Mentality and I can't hide the fact that I am one of those kids. We see the accomplishments in Kobe as he won 5 NBA Championships , 2 Nba Finals MVP, 1 Nba MVP, 18 Nba All Star Appearances and 15 All Nba Selections. He was also named to 75th Nba Anniversary Team. Mamba Mentality. Mamba Out.

wait a minute, are Larry and Magic real people???? I thought they were ur ocs???
This genuinely delights me for some reason ahaha And I don't mean that in a condescending way, I just wish they were characters I made up. They are personality types that I love writing and their story is already so perfect.
But nope, Larry Bird and Earvin "Magic" Johnson are two very real men who used to play basketball and are probably two of the most important players in the history of the NBA. I did not make them up. I just think they're neat.
