Ooh i'd love to hear more about ciceroix, if you have more lore. like how do the haillenarte kids feel about him, and him them. what about barendouin
Do I ever!
So I must begin with the preface that @lesenbyan has a headcanon/AU where Chlodebaimt de Haillenarte survived the fall of the Steel Vigil, badly wounded but alive nonetheless, but fled in shame, so his family - who never found his body but had no reason whatsoever to believe he could have survived - presume he's dead. Instead, he makes it as far as Hyrstmill in the Shroud, and there builds a new life for himself.
Which is where Ciceroix finds him.
They strike up a tentative friendship well before Ciceroix ever reveals who he actually is - Ciceroix knows who Chlode is, right away, and Chlodebaimt has his suspicions (on account of the Haillenarte genes being very strong). But they grow close regardless, because Ciceroix is content to let his nephew have his secrets, without trying to pry at them; he's glad to have one nephew, when he's been denied the rest.
Because uh, Baurendouin hates him! Emphatically despises him. Ciceroix doesn't blame him for it - he was kind of an asshole growing up, and spent a lot of his youth being a disgrace and a deliberate Problem. He is, therefore, not allowed to meet the rest of the Haillenarte kids. He's only barely even allowed within Ishgard, and is expected to keep his distance from the nobility in the process.
It hasn't stopped him from hearing about their accomplishments: he often mingles with the lowborn, so he's heard a great deal about Stephanivien's initiatives with machinistry, and Francel and Aurvael's work rebuilding and improving the Firmament, as well as the affection the men who serve under Laniaitte have for her. He's proud of them all, albeit from a distance.
It's kind of a shame, because I do feel he and Baurendouin would get along better after the latter loosens up a bit over the course of the MCH quests, but Ciceroix hasn't attempted to bridge the gap, and Baurendouin wouldn't think to do so.

Character meme: both of Coeli's cousins
Send me a character and I’ll answer these!!
1: sexuality headcanon
Cedir: cis gay man Yrys: feels labels are limiting (some flavor of "everyone")
2: otp
Cedir's kinda obviously Chlode since it's his only ship though I remain wishy washy on it. Yrys I've not thought of any actual ships for. I don't think they date I think they're just here for casual shags
3: brotp
each other and Coeli tbh. And probably Sleeping Smile.
4: notp
/shrugs
5: first headcanon that pops into my head
They're all cousins but, when together, have sibling energy and Yrys is the most Youngest Child ever. sometimes you'd forget they're a pirate
6: favorite line from this character
Man I've only written them on discord and lord knows I wouldn't be able to find it now. it was never much.
7: one way in which I relate to this character
I. hm. Well Yrys I relate bc masc leaning nb, but Cedir I'm......not sure if I do? That's kinda his appeal tho, yanno? Given Chlode's everything.
8: thing that gives me second hand embarrassment about this character
the fantasies Cedir and Chlode play out :| Yrys probably....how shameless they are. it's hard for me to write them bc if it's not sex related I do have quite a lot of shame actually.
9: cinnamon roll or problematic fave?
man they land in both. They're a pirate but they're also here for a fun time. Probably lean more Problematic tho

Valerin and Rivienne; Chlodebaimt’s kids with Ireine. Finally got around to naming them and making them in CC. Valerin’s the oldest by a year or two and takes after dad in introversion. Rivienne takes after Roelle and Uncle Guydelot and Claire and she’s a dancer and friendly and excitable and sociable and extroverted and, once she’s a teen, a flirt and a bit of a heartbreaker. They’re good kids and Chlode, Roelle, and Ireine love them both very much.

@felandaristhorns asked:  S T E P H, for both boys, feel free to disperse prompts among them as desired
A-Z HEADCANONS FOR MY CHARACTERS
Sing :: Do they like music? Do they listen often/sing/hum/play songs in their head?
They both like music! It’s one passion they’ve always shared. And while Chlode has no real musical talent, he loves Francel’s and encourages him to play frequently and improve. Chlode (and mama’s) encouragement is why Francel’s learned piano and harp and knows them both very well, even when he seriously neglects his practice between the Calamity and canon.
Chlode’s prone to like, a few specific earworms, generally just pieces of music he really likes and sometimes just plays in his head while he goes about his day, whereas Francel is hearing music in everything. Steady footsteps are a rhythm, clank of metal from training? music. Quiet hum of people talking? music. Everything is music so Francel often gets random musical snippets stuck in his head, often of his own creation simply from existing around where he does, be it home or Skyfire or Dragonhead
Touch :: How do they handle contact? Is their personal bubble big?
Chlode’s personal bubble is quite big- it’s the diameter of his reach pretty much- though he learns how to not get antsy or just up and move if someone’s near him so long as they’re not touching him. He’s not generally one for idle friendly physical affection either- no clapping shoulders, no hugs, no nothing, exceptions being family (minus Steph and Aurvael before his return.) Once he’s friendly with someone he doesn’t mind casual touches but he always doesn’t initiate them either. He’s not generally prone to it. It’s not that he doesn’t enjoy hugs or the like, it’s that he has to trust someone to let them touch him.
Francel, however, has a medium sized bubble (think elbow room) but he’s just. Every day of his life touch starved. He could cuddle for three months and still be touch starved. As a Smol he had a tendency to just curl up on Chlode or mama or dad- whoever had a free lap. He gets a lot of restraint as he gets older and he cuts himself off once Chlode dies and ends up so touch repressed that he can’t initiate for a while. excepting a single moment in the fic I’m writing but that’s a Bad initiation He definitely gets back to a point where he’s cuddly and affectionate once he, yanno, start processing trauma and doing things he loves again and stops isolating as much, but it takes some work.
Escape :: What do they do to destress? How successful is it?
Francel plays music! and it’s always very successful- when he lets himself. There are times he convinces himself his stress/depression/etc are something he deserves so he isolates in a dark room instead of playing. But any time he lets himself destress it’s very successful.
Chlode....well he dissociates. It doesn’t actually work. neither does drinking
Pistol :: Is this character skilled with a weapon? What’s their opinion of violence?
Chlode is very skilled in both the lance and the sword/shield tho he has not used the latter since the vigil fell and doesn’t plan to again. He did have to adjust to using the lance again after his injuries and he’s not as good as he used to be, but still good enough for self defense and hunting and such. He is also...somewhat apathetic to violence? He’s one of those that believes war will just. always exist. Even should the war against the empire succeed he fully believes another will break up not long after- the peace with the dragons and man didn’t last very long after all. He figures it’s a fact of life. Not a great one, one he wishes wasn’t but a fact nonetheless and not one he can change.
Francel, on the other hand, is a pacifist by nature and not great with any weapons. He has some training in both sword and lance, enough to be somewhat passable, but not good enough for even self defense. It equates more to book knowledge than anything he can use. His talents tend to lie more towards healing, though he’d not refined those much either. He can heal to some extent, but nothing more dire than, like, a broken bone at best supposing the break is clean and very recent. He also hates violence but considers it a necessary evil for the duration of the Dragonsong war and the war against the empire. But he believes world peace can be achieved if people truly struggle for it and want it.
Hobby :: What’s something they do for fun that might be surprising?
hmmmm.....Francel doodles sometimes. Mostly like, idle things while he’s thinking with a quill in his hand. It’s something he has to be careful about when doing reports for Skyfire or paperwork for the Firmament- he never wants to turn in something with doodles all over it.
Chlode, well, there’s fishing which is likely a surprise to the family when he comes home- and not something he admits to right away despite Steph seeing him doing it in Hyrstmill. He’s also a carpenter! not a great one by any means, but has made crude small figures and such for Hyrstmill kids or such. They’re never great so he doesn’t do it often because he figures if he’s not good at something why bother, but he can be encouraged into it once someone knows- which it’s something that can come up in conversations about the Firmament and possibly helping out the babiest brother

headcanon | Chlodebaimt [ He has two cats. One, a chubby dilute calico, finds him while he’s in the Shroud fishing and follows him home (and everywhere else) and another he gets after returning home, a white and grey maine coon that follows him out of the Brume once and never left the manor after.
He names neither cat, figuring they don’t need names to have happy lives and spoils them a little here and there. the calico loves sleeping in laps and by your feet while you sleep while the maine coon loves climbing people, being a scarf, and cuddling. They’re both very friendly and likely to walk up to new people in curiosity and expecting scritches. Neither of them are generally very vocal but when he wants pets, the maine coon will start mrowing at people until he gets them. The calico tho, she’s mostly just a purring machine, also has a purry snore. ]

Anyway, fuck it, Chlode does have plenty of chronic pain and Baurendouin manages to guilt him into having and using a cane and Steph/manufactory workers guilt him into taking frequent breaks when he gets a work bench in Skysteel for his carpentry bc he overheats easily from all the burns

@skysteelsun:  Meta on Roelle's effect on his recovery
send me a topic to write a meta about my muse on
Roelle is a significant portion of Chlode’s healing upon his return. They’re who gets him out of the Forgotten Knight, who forces him to confront the Vigil, or forces him to realize that obsessing over the dead is an insult to the living, especially after this long. While, at first, they expect none of it to work due to being lowborn and formerly under his command, they’re pleased when it does. Happy to see Chlodebaimt fold and go home at their first meeting, glad when he lets them in the next day to talk, glad that even in the face of his trauma induced rage he trusts them even before he knows them well. They served in the Vigil, that counts for a lot.
Without Roelle, I doubt Chlodebaimt would recover fully. Even with his family and Haurchefant doing everything within their power to help, he really needs someone who was there that day to  be the one spearheading the effort to make him better. Especially since doing so is like pulling teeth and one can’t always be gentle with him with it. Roelle goes into it all prepared to be yelled at, prepared to get kicked out, prepared even to potentially be hit in a fit of rage. Luckily, despite being prone to violence when angry, Chlode’s not prone to violence against others so he never does hit them, a fact they’re thankful for.
But, Roelle walks into the sitation knowing it’s not going to be pretty, knowing it’s going to be work. But they can’t stand to see their former commander sit there and sulk and waste his life away before of an event so many have already worked to move past. They understand why he carries more of it than the other survivors, he was in charge after all, but they want to also see him recover from it. And if he never returned to the city of his own will, then clearly he’s not been dealing with the trauma.
And while Roelle can’t get all of the credit, Chlode’s doing the work, they are the one forcing it out of him. Giving him some wine sometimes to make the talking easier, withholding all alcohol at times to prevent an addiction, forcing him to talk even when he doesn’t want to, apologizing if they push too hard too fast. They learn quickly how much is enough room to give him to process and how much is too much and will undo the work. They learn how to ease him through the new mentalities he needs gently.
It helps a significant amount that even when Chlode is angry, is going into intimidation mode, Roelle’s never truly scared of him. They know that this healing is going to make him angry and defensive and leave him hurting, it makes sense that he’s going to explode sometimes, but they figure what he does while angry will be what he does and they’re simply going to push all the buttons they need to, no matter the consequences. They want to see him better, so they’re willing to give a lot for it. Luckily, it comes to be that they don’t need to fear him, that he won’t hurt them, but they don’t know that at first, they don’t know him well, much less him drunk and traumatized. But it all works out far better than Roelle even hoped when first walking up to him in the Forgotten Knight.

@skysteelsun:  Meta on scars - his own, mental and physical, and those of others
send me a topic to write a meta about my muse on
Chlode’s near obsessive about his own scars after the Vigil. For a long time he spends almost every idle moment hyperaware of them under his clothing. He frets about anyone seeing and asking, frets about what they mean. To him, they’re signs of his only and biggest failure, signs of the numerous dead, far too many for him to name or count. Reminder that he was too young, too inexperienced, to keep the Vigil standing. That he just wasn’t good enough.
And, during his time in Hyrstmill and a bit after his return, he believes they’re signs of his family’s disappointment- of his father’s disappointment. He was always his father’s favorite, the first to take up the lance because he wanted to, the first to take up the sword, the first to be a knight. Baurendouin was always clearly proud of him and his accomplishments and, as such, so was Chlode. He spent a lot of his time seeking further approval from his father, seeking praise, and now he believes if he returned Baurendouin would be upset and disappointed about his failure at the Vigil. Or worse; embarrassed.
As such, the scars on his body are basically a physical manifestation of his mental ones. His biggest scar is the Vigil and just about everything about it. Even after returning to Ishgard it’s a couple years before he can bring himself to visit the ruins, even after he’s as healed as he’s going to get he refuses to face it for a while. It takes Roelle almost literally dragging him to get him there because it’s really the final step in all his healing.
With time and progress, he obsesses less over the Vigil and his scars, but he never freely exposes them. While helping in the manufactory at times to Stay Busy while Roelle’s at Ala Mhigo he will, at times, roll up his sleeves simply because it’s so hot, but if anyone were to question them he would immediately roll his sleeve back down and never roll it up again. Children have a little more of a pass because, by then, some of the hurt about his scars has faded thanks to Roelle and he knows they don’t really know better. They don’t press about it, answer or no, but if an adult were to ask, he may very well visibly flinch. Everyone in Ishgard knows his story after all.
However, no matter how much he hyper focuses on his own, he never really even notices scarring on others unless it’s extensive. He’ll never ask or stare, even with Roelle’s arm he never asked about it until after showing them his own scars and vulnerability even though they carry far less pain, now, about their arm than he did/does about his scars. He’s very respectful of scars on others and thinks little of them. So what if you got burned or knicked during training, or injured in battle? That’s what war is, isn’t it? He’s not going to treat you different for it. He just feels he’s exempt from that rule for some reason.

Headcanon | mental illness [ Chlode’s bipolar and thus sometimes easy to anger and can be prone to violence when angry. After the Vigil he also has pretty major PTSD which doesn’t help with his anger issues. However, thankfully to all those who care about him, after the initial bout of healing after his return from the Shroud he’s not prone to self-destruction; he stops drinking to excess frequently, does his best to stop self-isolating, etc.
Francel is prone to massive depressive episodes, often without trigger or warning. When he gets to Skyfire, he learns how to work through then however he’s still sluggish and fatigued when doing so. His biggest source of comfort for them is music, however he all but gives that up upon obtaining Skyfire and, as such, they get more frequent and pervasive.
As expected of a soldier, Roelle also has PTSD but it manifests much quieter than Chlode’s. They internalize their suffering and try to externalize it as helpfulness and positivity which often works but not always. Bad days for them include nightmares and flashbacks, both of which return with full force after they return from Ala Mhigo despite having trickled down to being barely present after the fall of the Vigil. ]

Headcanon | Chlode [ When talking, if Chlodebaimt is following a line of thought he shouldn’t, despairing too much, wallowing in his grief or trauma, or anything else he shouldn’t be doing, Roelle will refer to him as “Ser” instead of Chlodebaimt. This is because, upon his return, being referred to as “Ser” physically hurts him and also happens to be the only thing Roelle has found that can cut through his pain to draw his attention. Every other time they call him by name, or, after becoming lovers, occasionally “love” in private. “Ser” functions as an easy way for Roelle to tell him to check himself, his emotions, and his thought processes. It basically means “take a step back, breathe, assess.” ]

@felandaristhorns asked:  How about a basic meta on the relationship between Roelle and Ireine tho
send me a topic to write a meta about my muse on
Roelle and Ireine on the surface look simple and cute but there’s a lot more complexity beneath it. They don’t actually have much of a relationship with each other at first because while Ireine seems to like them, Roelle figures she wants time with her husband and just her husband sometimes and leaves them to it. As such, for a relationship between the two of them to really begin Ireine has to be the one making the first move- which she does.
At a certain point Ireine makes a point of finding and talking to Roelle at least once a day while they’re home, she won’t go to the manufactory and disrupt them at work unless it’s Important, but at home she’ll find them and have a chat which helps Roelle relax into the idea that oh, she does want to get to know me and such.
Their relationship is also expedited by Ireine’s suggestion that they invite Roelle into the room to help Chlode relax into intimacy and sex. He’s already gotten there with them and they’re his emotional support through anything they can be. Roelle’s surprised to know this suggestion came from Ireine who, as they figure, isn’t actually attracted to them like that, but gladly accepts if it’s what Chlode wants.
After that it’s far easier for Roelle to relax around Ireine and be open with her. They do have a discussion about boundaries with each other because Roelle’s certain Ireine doesn’t want to sleep with them but isn’t sure where the rest of the lines are (kisses and cuddles are okay, not make outs, and they might have sex occasionally if one’s horny and Chlode’s unavailable) so they have an open and honest talk about that and afterwords things between them end up looking a lot more romo to the outside observer.
Before and after vacations with Ciceroix, they both gets kisses from her, all three of them cuddle often, and Roelle and Ireine can and will cuddle together when Chlode’s busy, sometimes gossiping about him in stupid ways just because they can and it’s fun for him to walk in the room and just “.....you talking about me?” and them to “o uo”
But all in all it takes time for Roelle and Ireine to develop a relationship with each other that doesn’t revolve around Chlode simply bc, at the start, that’s their connecting factor and Roelle’s hesitant bc Ishgard isn’t normally open to poly relationships. But Ireine goes out of her way to take care of Roelle on bad trauma days, makes sure they eat, makes sure they’re included in discussions about children even though they won’t be biologically related to the kids, etc. Ireine’s a Mom and Caretaker and she sees Roelle taking care of others and just “Is anyone going to take care of them?” and doesn’t wait for an answer.
