I know I have to work on the requests, but I have to get this out of my head because now I have a rediscovered love for Invincible, bear with it.
(SOMETHING LIKE A CONTINUATION OF THIS)
SOME SITUATIONS WITH YANDERE AU MARK GRAYSON/INVINCIBLE
okay, I can definitely see that you two were a couple or at least liked each other before everything went to hell.
and although you were fine with Mark at that time, when he was being convinced to join the Viltrum empire, he was somewhat seeking your approval. although using very vague assumptions, such as "would you accept an alien race if it meant world peace?" "or if that would help with the development of medicine?" You know, like what Nolan wanted to do at the beginning with Mark. and obviously since you didn't have the context you said yes without hesitation, further fueling Mark's crazy ideas.
I may not have made it very clear in the first part, but you and Nolan definitely don't get along. I mean, he's nice to you in a way, but he treats you like a little kid who needs discipline, so he tries to push Mark into that. Not only that, but you also indirectly blame him for the sudden change in Mark's personality, you know that if Nolan hadn't gotten him into that shit, he wouldn't have so much blood on his hands. The Mark you knew wasn't like that. HE WASNT.
The main reason this Mark doesn't feel angry because of your traditional escape attempts or why he's so soft is because of something our Invincible doesn't usually have, and that's his ARROGANCE. This Mark does not believe that you are capable of running away from him, you are not capable of defending yourself from him, you are not capable of harming him and above all you are not capable of HATE HIM, because he sees you as a soft creature, who should be treated as such because you are confused.
He is delusional, SpongeBob and Squidward level of Delusional. You could perfectly tell him that you hate him, that he's the worst thing that happened to you in your life... and he thinks it's reverse psychology.
"fuck you"
"Is that an invitation?😚"
"I hate you"
"I love you too babe🥰"
"If we were trapped on a desert island I wouldn't hesitate for a second to make a raft with your limbs"
"Silly you, I would take you out flying😘"
Do you see what I'm saying? For the same reason, if you end up hurting him, he would be proud that now you can definitely defend yourself from the Revolutionaries who "kidnap you every now and then" (it's you on the run). dang it, if you hurt him probably even NOLAN would compliment you for doing it despite being "so weak" and would completely approve of you.
(I can already imagine you with a wedding dress and a bouquet of knives...you want to throw it at Mark...in the face)
I think the most Mark does to scare you into escape scenarios is to threaten to throw you and not catch you next time, that's the best he goes. He can't stand the idea of leaving you paralyzed because it would be very boring and sad to see only a shell of you.
He wouldn't kill Eve, but he would never hurt you...physically. Did you see that in the end in their universe they manage to imprison him and get rid of Omniman? you totally didn't let go of Fem! Cecil(Cecilia?) all the way to her base and thanking her with all your heart and tears. Cecilia comforted you awkwardly, but she understood that you must have definitely had a hard time with Mark.
Meanwhile, with Mark already locked up, even if the world is a bit messed up, you can breathe easy for the first time in years, you can leave the base without fear of what happens to the people around you, you can eat without a problem, you can CHAT with people! it's magic! It's like you don't even remember anything before Mark! out of pure fear!
Meanwhile, Mark in prison always asks about you AT LEAST once a day, even if they give him proof that you are WELL and HEALTHY, he just doesn't believe it and DEMANDS to see you to prove it, which they obviously deny him and only makes him think that even more. The guy thinks you must be dying of hunger and cold or being eaten by collotes while you live your best life🤣
"MY POOR BABE! She must be so confused and scared without me! How do I know they're not torturing her for information!? She must be so worried because we're not getting home!" and it goes on and on... meanwhile Darling: "happy~ happy~happy~" "OHHHOOOhhOO, I'M SO FUCKING HAPPY!"
For now that's all. I hope the Viltrum empire doesn't come to shit on Darling's happiness☠️

Thinking about an Invincible AU where Omni-Man/Nolan is a sexually submissive masochist (yes this is extremely relevant) and bisexual (also relevant) who, while the strongest person on Earth by miles, is actually the bottom of his graduating class at the Viltrum academy and was sent to Earth because the higher ups didn't think Nolan was "up for much" and that it would be an "easy target" for him (because he's the bottom of his class, they don't know about the other stuff).
And then Nolan, who has kept these parts of himself locked up forever, so tight no one knew about them on Viltrum. Then he meets Debbie, a sexually dominant semi-sadist and extremely amazing woman (also bisexual) who pushes him and fights him and refuses to be afraid of him, who shows him that weakness and vulnerability can be strengths, who allows him to explore these parts of himself that he knows Viltrum would have burned had they ever seen them.
He also tells Debbie all of his weaknesses so she can, y'know, hurt him better, make him feel better afterwards too. Put him back together better after she takes him apart better.
Now here's the thing: I genuinely don't think their day-to-day personalities change all that much. Nolan's softer. Debbie has a voice that turns him into a very very well-behaving good boy. But largely, they're still they're adorable, overly affectionate selves (totally 100% real this time!).
And it all leads to this culmination where Nolan just. Fucking breaks. Tells Debbie about everything. Eventually leads to him telling Cecil as well. "What do you mean you're the bottom of your class?" "Are you telling us we're the joke assignment?" And then he starts helping prepare for the eventual Viltrumite check-in and invasion. Because uh. Yeah if Nolan is the weakest Viltrumite he knew... what the fuck are they gonna do?
And Mark is still the main character, because the entire starting point of this story is "Mark finds out the whole truth." Because he knew Viltrum was bad. He knew his father never wanted to go back. He knew they were bigoted. He didn't know about the genocide. Mark thought his father ran away from home to be somewhere better. But uh, y'know, it's about genocide actually.
Oh also Immortal ends up Debbie and Nolan's third.
I know this is all v silly but I'm enjoying this concept very much. Seeing how much changes and how much stays the same.

Omni-Man Isn't Superman
So, I'm not someone who is super into evil supermen. It can be a fun little gimmick for a single story, don't get me wrong. However, I think there's a problem when in one decade, there are more evil Superman stories in pop culture than there are good Superman stories. It is the single reason I haven't watched the show about boys. I'm sure its great, or whatever. However, I think that the satire falls flat when people aren't actually able to understand the nuances of Superman. It sucks, man. However, I do like Invincible. I know, that seems weird. One of the big two evil Superman edgy bloody superhero series on Amazon Prime. I shouldn't be interested, but I thought it was EPIC! So why. Well, I think I found it out, finally, as Season 2 came out. Omni-Man, for the purposes of this story, isn't the Superman analog. Invincible is.
SPOILERS FOR UP TO S2 EP 1 OF Invincible
Allow me some time to explain. Yes, on the outset, he seems more like Superman than Invincible. He fits in with the Superman spot for the first season's Justice League analog. He has the "Biggest Earth Hero" character archetype, at least at the start, on lock. He even looks more like Superman in costume than Invincible (Though they do both have a letter on their chest, Mark's is just more abstract). However, that's really where it ends. For me, the big sticking point is the amount of age and knowledge at the start of the story.
One of the big elements of Superman is that he is practically unaware of his home world, only really learning from recordings in the Fortress of Solitude. However, Omni-Man is fully aware. He came to earth in his adulthood, he grew up on Viltrum (Invincible's Krypton analog). Meanwhile, for Mark, he grew up entirely on Earth, learning its ways, its culture, its people. You know, like Superman.
However, even more key to this argument, is Omni-Man's actual role in the fucking plot. Yes, he is an antagonist, but I'm thinking deeper. This story is about Mark, not Omni-Man. It's about Mark learning about himself, his role in the world, so on and so forth. But where does Omni-Man fit in. He's his dad.
Yes, I posit that Omni-Man's true satire is being an evil version of Superman's dad...s. For the sake of efficiency, he merges Jor El and Pa Kent, being more Jor than Pa. This is an important as the satire shifts from the usual, "WhAt If SuPeRmAn WaS eViL" shtick, and changing it to more of, "What if Superman came from an evil Fascist family line," Which I find much more interesting.
Mainly, in that it feels much more in line with the original Superman, oddly enough. Many of the evil Supermen ignore the idea that Superman is so cool because, in part, he fights against the idea of the Ubermensch. The idea of someone who is super strong taking power is bucked away by Superman, as he places himself under all those he is stronger than, the ultimate altruist.
Invincible keeps this in mind, and pushes it further. The world has set Mark up to be what the Fascist powers that led up to him want him to be. Heck, season 2 starts with the idea that most Marks team up with Omni-Man. However, that makes Mark even more revolutionary, he is the buck in the trend, the one who shows that Superman can be, and should be a hero. It is wonderful, and makes this show really good.

Wasn't that scene in the comics too?
If you are talking about the scene in the opening sequence of s2ep4 kindaaaaa but not rly let me explain
spoilers for s2 ep4 “it’s been a while” ahead!
in the comic you get a lot of narration (bc that’s just the nature of a comic) where we get this exposition from nolan:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
in the opening of the episode this seems to play out but instead there is no narration or any spoken dialogue for that matter. But then we get this beautiful scene that is original to the show
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
in the show you really see and feel the emotional turmoil that nolan is going through after ruining the live he loved and almost killing his son. He fully is attempting suicide here and the only reason he doesn’t end up going through with it is because he sees the thraxan ship getting pulled into the black hole. Let me repeat the only reason he doesn’t die is because he stops his suicide attempt to save lives.
He’s doing something that I personally think he did while thinking of mark, because mark would do that. He’s the kind of person to save strangers even if it blows up in his face bc of the kind heart his mother raised him with.
In the comic he just kinda meanders thru space and then arrives on thraxa and instantly just becomes like god king bc he’s the oldest and even ends up planning on giving thraxa over to viltrum as sort of “oopsie daisy I fucked up have this instead ok?” It’s something I personally rly did not like from the comic but they thankfully changed that in the show
The only reason he stayed on thraxa in the show and didn’t go back to try and end his life again is because he was asked to stay and to help them. I mean look at this guy he looked 100% ready to go and find that black hole again and finish what he started
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
In s2ep4 there’s no mention of him saying that he’s gonna give them to viltrum just that the reason he needs mark there is to help protect the people of thraxa and his little brother oliver. Which is a small but very important touch
Also over-all mark pushes back a lot more against his dad than in the comic where he rly just begged him to come home like a sad puppy and then nolan said “I’m not talking ab ur mother lolz”. Again the show fixes this and is doing imo a good job of starting his redemption arc better than the comic, nolan is by no means fully redeemed at all it’s gonna take a while but he’s trying and fucking ur and trying.
Hope this helped answer your question anon ! C:
