Hate that whenever I'm going through something all of my friends are also going through something so all we can do is just sigh loudly at each other's misery. It strengthens the bond, sure, but doesn't change much

Chapter 1: There is Nothing to Fear
Storybrooke Maine, 2052. The world is slowly dying from a plague, only known as J2, that is spreading across the realms, a disease that has no cure. A faction known as “The Rebellion” have moved underground to search for a cure while avoiding detection from “The Hive”, a dangerous group run by an unidentified man of darkness searching for power. The only thing standing in the way of either group taking power is Mayor Regina Mills, who spends her time protecting the residents of Storybrooke from criminals who might bring the plague to her small town. The most dangerous occupants, those deemed most likely to bring the plague to town, are given a new opportunity, a chance for a new life, without being a danger to society, courtesy of the Gold Collective.
The pain was tortuously blinding as he tried to open his eyes. It was a feeling of waking from an all-night bender he couldn’t even remember attending. Peering through slits, his room came into view, blue neon lit behind the monitor on his wall. “Status Report.” He spoke, a gritty tone leaving his throat.
“Good morning James, it’s 7:53 am, pollution level 63%, you have no appointments today.” The pleasant robotic voice carried throughout the room. Something felt wrong, like a small itch at the back of his brain, a light tick that was calling out to him, telling him to pay attention.
He stood from his bed, the silk sheets falling to the ground behind him as he wandered through the apartment. “Open blinds.” He spoke and the metal slats hummed as they opened fully, revealing the land in front of him, dark smoke clouds on the horizon behind the mountains. Storybrooke, the only home he had ever known. He sighed; he was going to be late. He was halfway to the bathroom before he stopped in his tracks.
What the bloody hell was he about to be late for?
“What time do I have to be at work?” he said loudly.
“You are expected at 8:30am. Shall I prepare transport?”
He groaned, “Sure, but where is my destination?”
“Granny’s Diner, Main Street, Storybrooke.”
He pinched the bridge of his nose, a headache taking form at the back of his neck. “Granny’s.” He mumbled. Short memories, like a picture show, formed in his head, an older woman barking orders at him as he cooked burgers in the back of the small diner. He was a cook. He wasn’t sure why that felt odd to him, like something was out of place. He didn’t have time to contemplate the decisions he made in his life. He was going to be late for work.
The quick shower didn’t erase the feelings, images he didn’t recognize were imprinted in his subconscious every time he closed his eyes. A woman with hair, a light pale yellow, eyes green as grass staring at him. He couldn’t place the image, some celebrity perhaps he had seen in a movie. He shut off the water, running the towel through his hair as he tried to rub the sleep from his brain.
He dressed and left his apartment, sliding the locks shut with a slam, cranking the large metal door handle to the right to ensure it was locked. He glanced down the darkened hallway at the few people meandering about, the lot of which always appeared to be lurking, watching for unsuspecting individuals who left their belongings unprotected.
“You’re late.” The woman growled as soon as he entered the back of the diner.
“I’m sorry, Granny. In my defense, I forgot I had…” He thought about his sentence. What did he forget exactly? That he had a job, that he was a cook, why he had even woken up at the time he did, dreaming about a woman he had never met, “to work this early.” He finished.
“I’ve had to tell you the same thing since you started working here, it would do you some good to have your AIM set a damn alarm before you go to bed.”
Killian had alerted his AIM or Artificial Intelligence Monitorto set a 7am alarm, yet it failed to alert him to his shift for the last few weeks. He would need to have it repaired if this continued.
“Yes Ma’am, apologizes.”
“Just get to work, we got people waiting.”
James pushed through his shift, flipping burgers, cracking eggs, and sending out plates of food he had no memory of knowing how to cook. He wondered to himself how he ended up with this life, when had he decided that this was the best job he could find? Each time he tried to imagine another career, something that he might actually enjoy doing, the migraine would hit him out of nowhere, crippling him until the inhibitor was injected into his arm and his breathing returned to normal.
Whatever plagued him, this medical condition that brought him to his knees had always been with him from what he could remember. He assumed that it had begun when he was a child, it was second nature for him to know to inject himself once the pain hit. Yet he couldn’t remember when it began.
He climbed the stairs to his apartment at the end of the day, entering his room and locking it down behind him. “Set alarm for 7am.” He said once he sat his keys on the counter.
“Alarm set. 7am.”
He went about the mundane task of preparing his dinner, watching the Holo TV, news that the plague had spread to the outer banks was on every station. Mayor Mills calmed the crowd during her press conference and on each holo announcement that played every 15 mins.
“People of Storybrooke, I give you my assurance that the plague will not breach our walls. We have taken every measure possible to protect our citizens. We continue to fight back the resistance uprising, and our law enforcement continues to arrest any faction that supports it. There is nothing to fear.”
Mayor Regina Mills stood in the center of the screen, flanked by her officers on either side. She was fierce, strong, and protected the town of Storybrooke with honor.
“Turn off Holo TV.” He announced, setting his dishes in the machine for cleaning.
He crawled into bed, pulling the covers over his hips. “What time is the alarm set for?” He asked, ensuring that everything was still working.
“Alarm is set for 7am, James. Sleep well.”
~*~
Emma woke to the sound of crying. She jumped up from her spot and reached for her son, pulling him against her chest. “Hush now Henry, mommy’s got you.” Pressing her child to her breast she felt the tug against her nipple as her son quieted. She smiled down at the infant in her arms, her heart aching as she watched him so still against her, as if nothing in the world mattered but his own nourishment.
Emma wished her view of the world were as innocent. But she knew better.
She looked around the dark shack she had been hiding in for the last few weeks. She could hear the water on the other end of the door, just on the outskirts of the town line. It would be dangerous if anyone were to find her. She had given up everything to get away from Neal Cassidy. Her safety, comfort, even her future was all gone the instant she escaped the tower that had been her home for the last five years.
Emma knew it was dangerous being outside the protective walls of Storybrooke, those who had been exiled lived on the outskirts, many would not escape the plague once they lost the protections provided behind the walls. Emma knew it all too well, five years ago when the plague first appeared, she had taken ill, she was expected to die quickly, painfully. But after a month, the symptoms subsided, and Emma survived.
Doctors could not explain why she survived, only that she had been very lucky.
And then she met Neal. She thought she had finally found someone to share her life with. She was taken in by his father, Gold, a man obsessed with finding the cure to the plague.
His company, The Gold Collective had invested in experimenting on anyone who had come down with the plague, valiantly searching for a cure, the perfect gene sample that would save humanity, but his efforts had been fruitless as most of his subjects died before he had completed his experiments.
Emma found him to be odd, even a bit intimidating at times. His obsession with the plague caused her to keep her own situation quiet. She had a feeling if he had known that she had somehow lived through the plague that his interest in her might become more than just the father of the man she lived with.
Gold took care of her, as Neal’s girlfriend, he ensured that she had everything she could ever want. And Neal provided her money, food, and a roof over her head. Something she didn’t have before she had met him, back when she was homeless, trying to find her place in Storybrooke. Neal took her in and loved her.
But all of that changed a little over a year ago. Emma wasn’t snooping, she hadn’t meant to be in the office after hours, but Neal had not returned home that evening, and Emma had been worried. So, she left the penthouse suite of Gold Laboratories and headed to Neal’s office. Before she even reached his wing, she heard arguing.
The conversation between Gold and his son was chilling. She knew she needed help. She didn’t want to cause alarm or alert either of the men to the knowledge she had overheard them, had realized who the Gold Collective really was, so instead she waited out her time. A week passed before she found her mark, a police detective whom she had followed for days. He lived a quiet life, devoted to his job, going between his apartment downtown and his job at the station, never deviating from his day. He always arrived at work at 10:02am for a 10:30 shift. He had lunch with his partner at 12:45, he picked up Chinese food at 9:00pm before returning to his apartment. She had watched him assisting his elderly neighbor up the stairs and she knew this was the man she needed to trust.
Officer Killian Jones didn’t know what to make of her when she showed up at his door at midnight one night. Begging to talk to him, asking for discretion as she tried to determine if he trusted her. When he learned of the knowledge she had, he panicked. He sent her home that evening, telling her to wait a week before she reached out to him again.
It took a month, Emma would arrive at his apartment, they would talk about their plans, share intel on what they had each learned, and suddenly, knowing he was the one person she could trust, feeling like for the first time in her life, someone understood and truly cared about her, she fell for the man.
He tried to deny her, not wanting to take advantage of her trust. But they were in love. There was no denying it. The affair was something that neither one of them had the power to stop. Emma would spend her evenings with Killian, staring at the stars talking about what the future held for them once they were able to figure out a way to stop everything that was happening around them.
But she always returned to Neal, she had no choice but to keep up the ruse in order to protect the secret she had. Too many powerful people were involved for her to alert anyone else. Killian didn’t even trust his partner David enough to share the information.
Suddenly Neal became protective of her, asking her where she was going anytime she left the apartment, so Emma had to distance herself from Killian. It had been a month since they had been in contact when Emma received devastating news. She and Neal were having a baby. It broke her heart. When she finally told Killian, he urged her to escape before the child was born. Once Neal had a child, he would never let her leave.
Emma knew he was right, unfortunately by the time she planned her escape, the child was born a prematurely. She was trapped. Killian became concerned for her safety now that a child was involved, and Emma was forced to share her secret with her childhood friend, Will Scarlett. He sprang into action, becoming the go between for Emma and Killian to set their plan in motion for Emma and Henry to escape.
That night, she met Will on the roof, and they made their daring escape, 65 flights of stairs down the back of the building. They waited for hours at the drop off point, but Killian never showed. Emma was devastated, she felt trapped. Will went in search of him, he wasn’t at his apartment, the station, or any of his usual locations. Killian was gone without a trace.
She knew that something bad had happened to him. He would never abandon her. She trusted him. The only solution she could come up with was that Gold or Neal had found out about their plan.
Killian was in danger, unless something bad had already happened to him. She was desperate to find him. Without Killian Jones, the entire town was in danger.
“Are you decent?” Will’s voice rang out from the other side of the door. She pulled her shirt over her breast, setting her sleeping son beside her.
She stood up and looked through the crack in the door. Will was standing nervously on the edge of the water. She clicked the locks, lifting the wooden latch until the door slid open. Will stepped quickly into the shack.
“You ok?”
“Did you find anything?” She asked anxiously.
“Maybe.”
Emma stared at him with pleading eyes. “What do you mean maybe?”
“Look, don’t freak out, ok?”
“You’re scaring me.” She responded nervously.
“I drove by the station again, nothing. David is there but Killian wasn’t around. I didn’t want to go in, because I figure they might start asking questions, but there was this girl sitting outside and I asked who I could talk to about a case of Killian’s, and I used me ole charm and she told me that he never came back to work a few days ago, and that they opened a missing persons case on him.”
“Oh God, Will.”
“I said don’t freak out.”
“This is terrible. They killed him, didn’t they?”
“Don’t get ahead of yourself, I haven’t told you everything yet.” He pleaded as she paced the room. “Anyway, I went by his apartment, and it was empty. The neighbor says they haven’t seen him for days.” She started to speak, and he pressed his hand to her mouth. “Emmie, I need you to be quiet, I know that’s hard for you.”
She groaned against his finger and mumbled. “Fine.”
“I got hungry as I usually do about this time and got a craving for a big greasy burger.”
“Seriously, you wanted me to be quiet so you could talk about food? I’m losing my patience, Scarlet.”
“The burger was excellent by the way, but that’s not the point.” He paused. “I went back to my car, and there was a man out back tossing out some trash.”
“Would you get to the damn point!” She yelled.
“It was Killian.”
“What?”
“The guy out back. Spitting image of him.”
“Did you talk to him, ask him what the hell is going on?”
“I talked to him, but he acted like he’d never seen me in his life. Swears his name is James Rogers. Emmie, it was the damnedest thing I’ve ever seen. But I tried, I even called him Killian Jones and he stared straight through me…” He dropped his head. “And then he thought about it, I could see the wheels turning in his head, and then he started wincing, and that’s when I saw it.”
“Saw what?” Emma asked impatiently, dreading the fact that she could already feel it in her gut, she knew what he was going to tell her, every sensor in her brain was going off that she already knew the truth.
“An inhibitor. The man injected himself with one of Gold’s inhibitors.”
Emma felt the tears forming, she knew it was the truth. It made sense, he would never have abandoned her or Henry. The only explanation was that Gold or Neal had found out what she was planning to do and got to Killian first. “They erased him.” She said sadly, feeling every last bit of hope she had draining from her being.
“Emmie, he’s one of the void. There’s no way back from that.”
“Don’t say that, we don’t know that. It’s all experimental, it’s not even legal. Gold’s been doing it for years on test subjects. Killian can fight it; I know he can. He’s too strong.”
“Emmie, he had no idea, absolutely no idea of who I was.”
“It doesn’t matter, Will. We must keep trying. Maybe the inhibitor just suppresses his memories. We have to get him not to use it.”
“For all we know, not using it could cause his brain to explode. It’s dangerous.”
“I won’t give up on him Will. I can’t lose him.”
He pulled her into his arms, rubbing her back in slow circles as she cried. “It’s gonna be ok, we’ll figure it out.”
“What are we going to do, Will? Without Killian, I’ll never get into the station to upload the information.”
“We’ll find a way. That’s what we do right?”
She smiled weakly. She wouldn’t give up on him, he risked so much to try and protect her and another man’s child. He had given her hope when she had none. She would never stop trying to get him back. Even if it killed her, she would save Killian Jones and take down the Gold empire.

Pros of going home for the summer: free food (when someone goes bloody food shopping), free wifi (when someone plays the bloody bill) and my cats (no problems here they’re perfect).
Cons of going home for the summer: You lovely people get a chapter I finished at 4:30 in the morning because I can’t sleep with all these damn people going in and out of the living room I sleep in :) This is really just an idea I was tinkering (pun intended) with when I first began writing this story, so I thought now would be the time to incorporate it into the fic.
P.S. I’m sure some of you have heard of the wildfires in Greece. If you’d like to help, please try sending money and supplies to the Greece Red Cross.

The sound of muffled yelling greeted her as she reached Tink’s floor. Her defensive instincts broke through her tiredness and she readied for a fight. As she turned the corner she was surprised to see Felix standing outside the door, pacing in small circles and chewing on one of his thumbnails.
Wendy’s heart ceased its pounding when she saw that he wasn’t in fight-mode like her, but her spine remained straight as she edged closer. They exchanged worried glances, the yelling behind Tink’s door becoming more audible.
“We’ve been through this a thousand times, just leave me alone!”
“How dare you raise your voice at me!”
Wendy tensed at the sound unfamiliar and gritty female voice. Tink Le’Belle was beloved around town, even by Granny who was the closest thing to a rival she had. Who could she possible have as an enemy?
“I will raise my voice at whoever I want to! I’m twenty-three years old and you will not ever tell me what to do again!”
Wendy glanced at Felix, hoping he could relay an explanation to the commotion, but he looked too nervous to answer questions.
“You’re living in sin with that boy!”
“Not this crap again!”
“Oh God.” Felix moaned.
“Should we…intervene?” Wendy inquired as the two women continued to yell at each other.
“Absolutely not.” Felix sighed. “My presence just makes things worst. Not to mention the last time I got in the middle of them I had one of my worst seizures to date.”
“Who…” Before she could finish her question, the door burst open and a woman in a blue convent outfit stormed out of Tink’s apartment, causing both Wendy and Felix to jump out of her path. She spared a look Wendy’s way, but she paused to full-on glare at Felix, as if everything that the loud conversation that had occurred in Tink’s apartment was somehow his fault.
Felix matched her glare, his sharp jaw clenching in an unforgiving line. He’d always looked so fragile to Wendy, pale and lanky. However, compared to the woman in blue, who’s eyes were as hard as diamonds and spine as straight as a telephone pole, he seemed unabatingly powerful.
With a loud huff the woman stalked down the hallway to the stairs, leaving behind a confused Wendy and a seething Felix, who burst into Tink’s apartment as soon as the woman was out of sight.
Wendy paused to listen to Felix’s muffled apologies, her heart clenching when she heard a muffled feminine sob.
“She’s always doing this.” Tink cried quietly.
“We can still get a restraining order.” Felix returned soothingly. “She can make sure she never comes near you again.”
Wendy swallowed, feeling powerless, and for whatever reason, guilty. She was surrounded by so many mysteries and thus knew of no way to help anyone, especially the young woman who had been nothing but kind to her from day one. As she looked on at the comforting domestic scene in Tink’s living room, she wondered if she could help at all. Felix seemed to be giving her all the relief she needed because he whispered something into her ear and she giggled softly, the tears on her cheeks drying into the lines of her smile.
Wendy managed a small smile, but her heart remained heavy and her curiosity peaked.
Tink finally noticed her presence and sat up, wiping her eyes and smiling brightly.
“Hey,” she greeted. “How was your day?”
Oh god he’s dead!
You and Jekyll?
This is my business, my life! Stay the hell out of it you nosy pest!”
He’s my brother!
“Fine.” Wendy lied, holding her breath when she caught a phantom whiff of corpse and woods. “Is…everything okay here?”
Tink rolled her eyes. “Just some crap from my past I can’t seem to get away from.”
Wendy nodded. She could certainly understand that.
Tink stood, rubbing her hands together as she fell back into her usual mode.
“You want to order in? Or I’ve got a frozen pizza in the freezer…”
“Actually,” Wendy began, the subject she had wanted to bring up between her and Pan’s rescue from the evil turkey and the car ride pushing back into her attention. “I was thinking I’d use the rest of the night…to gather my things.”
“Oh…” Tink’s smile fell some, and Felix gave her an odd look.
“Yeah,” Wendy said, clenching and unclenching her hands. “I…had an experience today that helped me realize that I will be okay on my own. I think the bad karma’s left.”
Tink nodded, her smile sad but understanding.
“I hate to throw this on you now…” Wendy apologized.
“No! Not at all. This is a weekly occurrence.” Tink laughed, though the sound was strained.
A moment of silence followed, not tense but still unwelcomed. Wendy couldn’t understand why the lack of sound made her feel so nervous.
“I’ll pull the car around.” Felix suggested, bringing in just enough sound to ease the anxiety creeping through Wendy’s mind. When the door closed behind him, Tink stood and offered to help Wendy pack.
It took little to no time to gather Wendy’s toiletries (Wendy was ever the immaculate houseguest), however it took her and Tink a moment to find her clothes. The girls were about the same size and borrowed each other’s clothing, which only now had become an issue.
“I can just come back for anything I leave.” Wendy assured as Tink ruffled through her closet.
“No, it’s that lace shirt, the one you made yourself? I’ll never give it back if you leave it here.”
Wendy nodded. The shirt was one she made back during her fabrication phase that had somehow survived despite the frail fabric.
Wendy turned and began going through her drawers. Her hands scaled through a cluster of t-shirts until her fingertips grazed something cold. She held her breath, praying that she didn’t pull out something totally nonsensical like a gun or a sex toy. A quick peak assured her that it was neither of those things and she pulled the object out with a sigh of relief.
It took her a moment to understand what she was looking at. It was old and heavy, obviously some kind of silver that needed a good polish, with cloudy jewels running down the middle. It looked like an old cross, the ancient kind one would see in historic cemeteries, only this one was broken towards the bottom, as if it had been sawed in half.
“Please be careful with that!” Tink cried when she finally noticed Wendy. She took the object from Wendy’s hand, holding it close to her chest. “It’s really old.”
“I can see that.” Wendy said. “What is it?”
Tink placed the object on her dresser, running a finger down its cold metallic surface.
“It’s part of a cross my parents left behind when they gave me up.”
Wendy watched her friend, the information she just released hitting her immediately. Was there anyone in this town who didn’t have a horrible family secret?
The way Tink had said it however wasn’t necessarily sad, but accepting of the situation. Still, it made Wendy wonder what kind of parents could give up someone like Tink.
“I’m…sorry.” Wendy said, unsure of what else she could say. “I didn’t mean to pry.”
“No, it’s fine.” Tink assured. “It’s just…today brought up some bad memories.”
“That women…” Wendy led.
Tink rolled her eyes. “The head nun from the convent. Mother Superior. More like Mother pain in my ass!”
Wendy calmed a growing smirk. “Is she technically your mother, or…”
“Surrogate, but just barely.” Tink sat down on the end of her bed and Wendy took it as an invitation to join her. It was time for another story, it would seem.
“I was left on the doorstep of the nunnery shortly after I was born. According to my file I had some of my umbilical cord still attached.”
Wendy gasped. “Oh my.”
“The nuns took me in, raised me, and Mother Superior was there to monitor every waking second of my life.”
A dark thought entered Wendy’s mind and she hesitated only for a moment before voicing it.
“She didn’t…do anything to you, did she?” To her surprise, Tink snorted in response.
“Geez Wendy Darling, get your head out of the Twilight Zone. You’ve been spending too much time around Pan.”
“Tell me about it.” Wendy muttered. “But back to you, why was she here earlier?”
“The same reason she always stops by: she’s trying to get me to join the convent permanently.”
Wendy blinked, trying to envision Tink in the same stuffy outfit Mother Superior had been wearing instead of her ripped jeans and green tank top. It just didn’t seem plausible.
“At eighteen, any of the children who live at the convent get to choose to convert or go out on their own.” Tink explained. “I chose to leave, and she’s been trying to pull me back ever since.”
“Why didn’t you want to stay? Free rent, three meals a day. It might be a set routine but you’d never be without a home.”
“That place was never a home.” Tink said. “It was a building I lived in. Sure, there were good people in there, and I was never cold or hungry, but Mother Superior made it so constraining. I could never have friends or wear what I wanted. I couldn’t even watch TV or listen to music! I’m the only person in town who didn’t know who Lana del Rae was!”
Wendy chuckled but straightened up quickly. “You decided to leave and make your own decisions. Nothing wrong with that.”
“Well it…wasn’t just wanting to get out of the convent.” Tink said with a small smile. “It was the people I met, Lily Tirgress, Pan…and Felix.”
“Ah.” Wendy smiled. “You fell in love.”
“Well, not at first.” Tink scoffed, leading both girls to laugh.
“Well, details.” Wendy insisted.
“Let’s see…I was home-schooled up until eighth grade. I wanted to live during my last years of school, so I begged Mother Superior to let me enroll, suggested a “religious” presence might influence the other students.”
“Clever.” Wendy commented.
“Believe it or not, it was Pan’s suggestion, but that’s a different story. Anyway, I was enrolled into Storybrooke High and smoking cigarettes in the girls’ locker room by the third day.”
Wendy laughed. Her high school experience involved her eating lunch in the library and becoming a legend after she nearly set the home economics room on fire when one of the sewing machines started smoking.
“By the time graduation came around, I was ready to permanently transition into the real world. Felix and I even discussed getting a place together before…” Tink paused, a painful glint flashing in her deep green eyes.
“What happened?” Wendy pressed carefully.
“Felix had his accident.” Tink relayed, the words sounding heavy on her tongue. “His parents were killed and he spent a few months healing. It put a damper on our plans.”
Wendy thought about the scar that ran over Felix’s face. She had figured he had sustained it from an accident, but hadn’t realized the severity of it’s origins.
“Mother Superi-ass said it was God’s punishment.” Tink said, her voice hard as diamonds. “I was out of the convent in an hour.”
Wendy thought of something to say. She and her girlfriends back home never had conversations this deep.
“Things…seem better now.” She tested.
“They are.” Tink agreed, her spirit’s lifting. “I have a good job, a good boyfriend, and most days good friends when Pan isn’t being an ass. I have a good life.”
Wendy noted just a twinge of hesitation when she said the last bit, but her smile was convincing enough that she didn’t press for more. Then again, why would she press for more? This was Tink’s business, and details on her life should be given, not inquired upon.
Still, Wendy’s natural curiosity was peaked, and she needed to leave before she asked anything Tink wasn’t ready to share.
“You can keep the shirt.” Wendy declared. “Consider it a thank you for…everything.”
Tink blushed and nudged Wendy with her hip.
“Deal.”
-,-,-,-,-
“Wendy?”
Something was touching her hair.
“Wendy!”
Something was pulling it.
The intern journalist just up from her desk, her mind going into an instant panic before her blurry surroundings became clearer.
Pan was standing at her desk, hands shoved in his pockets, revealing his innocence.
“God your hair looks awful.”
Wendy sighed, her brain hardly awake to deal with his insults.
“Then I suggest you never cut yours this length. What do you want?”
“The janitor said you’ve been here since 4. Did Tink kick you out?”
Wendy shook her head as her heartbeat returned to its normal pace.
Upon her return to her apartment last night, she was met with instant regret with her brave decision to move back to her place. Every noise made her heart skip a beat and every shadow looked like it was coming towards her. She had kept all her lights on and had headed to the paper as soon as one of the janitors had come to unlock the doors at 4 a.m. She had meant to keep herself busy, but the second she had sat at her desk she crashed.
“I um…wanted to get started on the Jekyll story.”
“Already wrote it. Come with me to the printers, give it a look.” He stormed off before she could reply, giving her the chance to notice that his limp was nearly nonexistent now, though she could still see the ghosts of several scars he had accumulated in the last few weeks.
She followed him cautiously, recalling their last encounter. His coldness, and then his confusing revelation about Gold. Why had he done that, and what had he thought it would accomplish revealing to her?
What would it change between them?
She was barely in the room before Pan shoved a sheet of paper in her hands.
BODY OF FORMER MORTICIAN FOUND IN CAR
“Former mortician?” Wendy scoffed, her skin crawling. “That’s much too nice for what he was.”
Pan shrugged before busying himself with something. “Glass wouldn’t let me use “Ex-sociopath dead, good riddance”.”
Wendy hid a smile and read through the article, checking off the details in her head. It was cut and dry, omitting the details about how her and Pan were held captive in the car by a turkey. Coroner details provided that Jekyll had been killed the night he had held Wendy and Pan captive and that no fingerprints or other evidence had been found.
“Oh no.” Wendy gasped when she got to the third paragraph.
“…with Jekyll’s body being found on his property, Booth will be held for questioning...”
“Sheriff Graham doesn’t really believe he had anything to do with it does he?” Wendy inquired out loud.
“Would he be in an interrogation if he didn’t?” Pan snarked.
Wendy glared at him and laid the story down. “And you’re not concerned? You two were…” Wendy stopped herself. Assuming that anyone was anything to Pan was dangerous, and really just an argument-starter.
“We were what?” Pan smirked, his eyes filled with a dangerous darkness.
Drop it.
“Something.” Wendy breathed, the word flowing out so easily despite how hard she had tried to contain it.
The silence that followed her declaration was heavy, and shifted the possibility of peace for the two of them away.
Pan’s glare was strong, but he gave no comeback, no insult or jab to her person. Because for once (as far as he was concerned at least) she was indeed correct. But not about August.
She had used that same word when she described Jekyll. Something.
He was something with everyone in his life, even to those he deemed dearer to him then most (but they would never know it).
They weren’t lovers, or friends, and they sure as hell weren’t family. Those words were too personal.  They were just something.
But you’re not just something, Wendy.
“If he’s innocent, Graham will snuff it out and he’ll be free.”
Wendy shook her head, the idea that he was still pretending he didn’t care astonishing her. She’d seen his vulnerable side enough times already.
Why is he still cutting me out?
“Whatever.” Wendy sighed, shoving the story back to him. “I have something else I wanted to talk to you about anyway.”
Pan paused, his stomach curling with anticipation. It had to be about Gold. Why the hell had he told her about him!
“Well?” Pan introduced, leaning against the desk casually while his heart drummed in his chest.
Wendy worried her lip, the subject she was about to approach having followed her home and distracted her from the darker parts of her mind.
“What do you know about Tink’s parents?”
Pan blinked, the question catching him completely off guard. When the hell had Tink told her about that? And how had he not known that she had told her? He realized he hadn’t spent a lot of time around them lately but…
“Why…do you want to know that?” Pan inquired quickly.
“So you do know something?”
“Perhaps, but answer my question first.”
Wendy frowned, calling his bluff. “You know bullocks.”
“Any knowledge I have is some that you do. That’s…” he smirked. “something.”
“Wanker.” Wendy growled. But he had a point. He had roots in Storybrooke and knew where each one led.
“Fine.” Wendy surrendered. “The…head nun came to Tink’s apartment last night. She was really upset and then she brought up how she was abandoned at the convent. I thought maybe someone had to see something that night. Sheriff Graham wasn’t even an officer then so…you’re my only option. You…have a way of finding buried things.”
“True.” Pan agreed cockily. “But you might not want to go digging for this skeleton, little bird.”
“And just why not?”
“Because it’s too personal.” Pan answered, his tone changing to genuine concern. “Not to mention if Tink wanted to know about her parents, she would have gone digging for the information when she turned 18. She didn’t want to know then, and nothing’s changed.”
“You don’t know that.” Wendy retorted. “You didn’t see her face. Maybe there’s something else, information she wasn’t given. Something I can find for her.”
Pan’s eyes lowered, and Wendy could only imagine what he was thinking.
“You mentioned yesterday that you and Glass came across records, in the library?”
“Yes.” Wendy nodded. “He mentioned that it was the town’s storage unit.”
“Start there. The nuns keep crap there as well. Then check the newspaper archives.”
Wendy nodded, smiling gratefully before turning to run out of the print room. “Thank you. Let Glass know I’m taking the day off.”
“I’m not your fucking secretary!” he yelled after her, feeling surprisingly unfulfilled when she didn’t respond.
The silence that followed her departure seeped into his mind, echoing, drumming his senses.
Oh no…
Not the quiet.
Pan grabbed as stack and printing paper and hurled it at the window. He breathed in relief when the clattering sound filled the room.
He quickly turned on the printer to fill the void, his mind racing as fast as the papers on the belt.
Wendy hadn’t asked about Belle, or about their fight yesterday. She hadn’t even wanted to continue talking about Jekyll or August or the rest of the filth they encountered on their latest adventure. Didn’t she want to know?
Didn’t she still care?
Why is she cutting me out?
-.-.-.-.-.-.-
Now that she was standing outside of the library where nine days ago she almost met a ghastly end, Wendy wondered if finding out Tink’s past was worth the panic attack she felt coming on.
Police tape and a fresh lock closed off the door she and Glass had gone through during their research session. They had tried to solve the mystery of Belle’s disappearance on their own, but all they had accomplished was another trip to the hospital.
Jekyll and Pinnock were dead, and the police force had raided their underground prison for more danger. There was nothing to be afraid of, yet she was still terrified. Maybe she should have asked Pan to come along. His company was better than the crippling silence that usually followed her around.
She turned on her cellphone flashlight, her hand shaking as she used the light to find a different entry. She wasn’t even sure what to look for, or even if she would find anything at all. This town had so many secrets under its charming facade. Jekyll’s was literally buried underground. She could only imagine where Tink’s would lead her to.
Without much searching Wendy managed to find a window. Heavy from year of untreated rust, it took some effort to open and crawl through it, resulting in Wendy scrambling for a grip on the wall when her foot got caught in the window. With an annoyed huff, she snatched her foot forward, freeing her but causing her to fall face-first into the dusty library floor.
“Ow.” she groaned as she pulled herself up, rubbing her chin from the impact. Otherwise unscathed, she picked herself up and shown her phone light around the room. She was surrounded by mountains of boxes, all covered in layers of dust and unmarked.
“Great.” Wendy huffed. “This is going to take a while.”
Four hours later, Wendy’s hands were caked black and her nose was pink from sneezing so much. But, miracles of miracles, she had finally found a box of files from the year Tink was born.
She had the files spread out by month, squinting through the contents for anything to do with a found baby. She was relying solely on the light peeking through the boarded windows, her phone battery having gotten too low to support the flashlight any longer.
Finally, she found a file labeled “Convent infant: 1991” and Wendy hissed in self-congrats. She flipped the file open, her eyes instantly falling on a photo of an infant labeled “Margatink La’Belle”. Wendy smiled at the picture of her friend, the idea that she was once small and helpless instead of the confident woman she was now.
She carefully through the details of the file, all of which was cut and dry and containing the same details Tink had described: a nun had heard her crying and found her on the steps of the convent. The nuns called the police but with the convent not having cameras at the time, the person (or people) who dropped Tink off remained unfound.
Wendy sighed when the information ended, leaving her in a dead end. Closing the file, she headed to the archives in the back, hoping any story that was published on the incident would have more information.
Her head was throbbing by the time she found articles from October 1991. There was mostly small-town drabbles, such as construction at the diner and new playground equipment. Wendy wondered briefly when exactly Storybrooke became as hectic as it had when she arrived.
A picture of a bundled baby caught Wendy’s attention, and the headline caused her heart to pound with excitement.
NEWBORN BABY ABANDONED AT CONVENT
“Newborn…” Wendy mused, reading ahead.
Sister Corrine Blue, 17, discovered the abandoned infant shortly after 1 a.m. Wednesday night. A doctor’s analysis showed that the baby was just over a week old and still had an umbilical cord stomp in her belly button.
“Poor Tink.” Wendy sighed.
The baby was abandoned with a wicker basket, flannel shirt, and a broken metal cross. The other half of the cross has yet to be located.
“We’re very grateful that the child is healthy, and the Sisters of Saint Meissa will do everything to make her comfortable until social services decide on a plan of action.” Blue said.
Wendy read through the article again, look carefully for other details that she may have missed the first time. The only addition information she found was a small article stating that the convent had been allowed to adopt her. It would seem that Tink’s story ended there, but Wendy knew that it was the event leading up to her adoption into the convent that was most important.
After snapping photos of the pictures in the articles, she pulled out her notebook and began making a list of possible interviewees. Mother Superior was already at the top, being that she had taken responsibility for Tink’s upbringing. If she found Tink, then she might have seen something else. Then, of course, was Sheriff Graham. He may not have been sheriff then, but he could still tell her who his predecessor was. And finally, the author of the article, Sydney Glass.
As Wendy ready through the list, another name came to mind. It was a long shot, but any information anyone could provide would help.
Especially if that particular person owned the town and knew every corner of its happenings.
Mr. Gold.

Part two is almost done, but damn if this chapter wasn’t 8000+ words and bordering on 23 pages! It would have taken me months to edit!

Stuart and I recently watched “I Feel Pretty” starring Amy Schumer. Absolutely adorable movie that got me thinking. Oh no, right?
Looking back, I don’t remember caring too much about my outward appearance when I was a kid. I was too busy playing outside.
I do recall getting excited when my granny would sew Stacy and I elaborate Easter dresses or matching Christmas dresses when we were young. Ya know, before we got too cool to wear the bonnets and such.
I distinctly remember getting my first bra and all that led up to that momentous occasion. I was in 5th grade and it was becoming evident I needed one. You know, that in between stage? Not flat chested anymore but evidence that something was happening. Well, at least it was evident to a certain 5th grade boy who will remain nameless. Talk about humiliating. I wonder if he remembers. Doubtful. I was uncomfortable talking to my mom about that stuff  but somehow it was determined that it was time. Said bra was purchased. My mom, Stacy and I stopped by my mamaw’s that evening. As soon as we walked through the door, my mom shared the new bra news with Mamaw. I swear y’all, it was the scene from Sixteen Candles, only the whole horrific scene was taking place in my mamaw’s kitchen.  Stacy can vouch for me. I kid you not, Mamaw squashed my new found friends and said, ‘”they’re so perky.” I was mortified. I felt violated, to say the least! Sixteen Candles link if you need a refresher. The grandma in Sixteen Candles even looked like my mamaw. Almost identical. I’m pretty sure my boobs grew in overnight, much to my disappointment. The boys, however, didn’t share my disappointment. It sucked!
I didn’t really care too much about clothes and getting all fancy either. Not much has changed. I did L O V E me some fluorescent clothes in junior high, but who didn’t? Ergo the 80’s!Then in high school, I’m pretty sure I had every color of Rocky Mountain jeans known to man and Justin Ropers.
Growing up I wasn’t the prettiest. I wasn’t ugliest. I was, however super insecure about the size of my butt! The fact that both parents had nicknames for it didn’t help matters either.
My mom cared more about my appearance than I did. She thought I was pageant material. Hush! Makes me giggle too. I was enrolled in a couple of pageant classes and  even attended a few up until I got grounded for having boys in the house when my parents weren’t home. Never claimed to be an angel. More rebel than pageant queen I can assure you.
In order to correct my “sway back” and get pageant ready,  I spent a set amount of time everyday, working on my posture. My sway back was deemed to bring more attention to my already ample rear. I had an apple bottom before it was acknowledged as “a thing.” With a book a top my head, I would walk back and forth across the living room in an attempt to lessen the sway. Guess what? It didn’t work.
Body type is unique to each of us. As of late, I’ve realized some people are just blessed with good genes. I am 5 foot nothing. If I gain five pounds, I take on the appearance of aging oompa loompa. Nice imagery, huh?
Over the past few years, I think I’ve become more self conscious about my appearance than I ever was when I was younger. I found myself tearing up like a big ole tit baby, identifying with Renee in “I Feel Pretty.”
There was a scene that hit way too close to home. Renee, Amy Schumer’s character went into a cute little boutique. The size 2 salesgirl asked her if she was shopping for a gift. Renee in turn, sheepishly responded, “I’m kind of browsing for me.” ‘Ole Size 2 proceeded to tell her that sizing was limited in the store but she was sure that her size could be found online. That’s how I feel everytime I step foot in a cute little boutique.
But you know what?  The way I feel about me is not ‘ole size 2’s fault. It’s not my mom and dad’s fault. It’s all on me.
Self confidence is something that we all struggle with, if we’re being real here. Men and women alike, truth be told.
Sure. I’ve got things that I feel I do well. I can draw some self confidence from that pool most days. It’s the appearance pool that tends to run dry. You know what I’m talking about.
The hair is more grey than ever. I’ve allowed, even encouraged the sun to work its’ evil on my face. The wrinkles, more plentiful daily, it seems. The weight, well, it’s a dadgum struggle. Whole 30 – Keto – binge. That seems to be my routine these days. And the girls, let’s be honest. They aren’t no where near as perky as they once were! I’ve even kicked around the nip, tuck and lift A LOT idea here lately. Who am I kidding? I’m the poster child for what can go wrong while under the knife. Instead of  two lifted, I’d come out with three pointing every which way.
I can’t pinpoint the origin of my lack of self confidence these days.  I hate to utter the next thought but I’m going to anway. I truly think I let pictures on social media get in my head. Don’t get me wrong, I love social media. I just wish folks were more authentic. That being said, what others post on social media is not to blame for my insecurities. I control me.
At the end of the day, I’d venture to say we all struggle with the way we look, whether a size 2 or a size 14. Man or woman. I’m a size 14 – 16 all day long. There I said it!
It doesn’t matter if you’re a youngin or an old girl like me, go look in the mirror and give yourself some love. Don’t focus on what you deem as the negative. If you need to lose some weight, there’s something you can do something about. There are things that will slow down the wrinkling but in the end, it’s gonna happen. The grey? Some of us are just blessed. Get ’em colored if you want. You can only fight it for so long. If you want to get a nip, tuck or a lift, go for it.
When your head hits the pillow at night, ask yourself if you inspired someone during the day. Did you make someone smile? Did you hurt someone and need to make amends. Did someone hurt you and do you need to let them know it’s not ok to do that. Are you right with your maker? Are you setting an example for your kids that they can be proud of? Was your time well wasted today? These questions and so many more are what I’m choosing to focus on from here on out. Click here to listen to the Best. Song. Ever.
I never – ever – thought I would quote these words that were spewed so often throughout my childhood but I’m finding they ring true when met with the right intent. At the end of the day, pretty is as pretty does folks.
The way you see yourself is the way others see you too. If you walk around like a beat puppy, chances are that’s the way others will see you. If you walk with your head held high, confidence in tow, that will be noticed as well.
The way we treat others speaks volumes. Much more so than the way we look on the outside.
They’re So Perky! Stuart and I recently watched "I Feel Pretty" starring Amy Schumer. Absolutely adorable movie that got me thinking.

Chapter 2 ~ First Date 10/25/1985
After Nick and I broke up I needed to keep busy and had the opportunity to work three jobs. On week days I worked at the BBB, in the evening at a popular furniture store called Curtis Fields a mile from the BBB. Saturday was always busy from 9 until 2 cleaning homes. In the beginning I cleaned for friends and later friends of their friends.
This Saturday I was cleaning for my unofficial adopted father, Dino Panciera. I loved him like a father. Dino was a retired Rhode Island Italian mortician. Bored with retirement he joined the sales department for the BBB shortly before I started there.
When I first met Dino in 1984 he and his wife, Yolanda were separated and he was living in Palm Beach Gardens at Longwood Country Club. Yolanda lived in their Rhode Island home on Narragansett Bay. Dino’s girlfriend Geri Destefanis was a widow living in WPB.
According to Geri the death of Dino and Yolanda’s adopted son Stephen was the main cause of their separation. Dino’s son Stephen was only 25 when he killed himself in 1978. I was 2 years younger than Stephen and was mistaken a lot for Dino’s daughter when we went to lunch. Dino loved it and was in my life until he died of cancer at age 73 in 2002.
In 1985 Yolanda agreed to move to FL in an effort to save their marriage. Dino got a place on the beach per Yolanda’s request. Dino did not break it off with Geri. On this particular Saturday I cleaned Geri’s in the morning. Dino stopped by and Geri made the three of us breakfast. In the afternoon I cleaned at Dino and Yolanda’s beach home. After Dino returned from golf, Yo made the three of us lunch.
Was this an odd situation? Definitely, but I’m not going to judge. You see these three people loved me too and were there for me. I can still hear Dino’s voice “I love ya kid. You know how to keep your mouth shut!”
When I married Rick, Dino walked me down the aisle. While planning the wedding Dino went with me several times to find the best place for the reception. On our wedding day Dino’s wedding gift was paying for half of our wedding reception! Dino was the father I always wanted. Geri stepped up as mother of the bride for me and lit the candles during our wedding.
After cleaning I came home and finished my packing. Rick asked me to go to the Halloween party just the night before, I had nothing really to wear. My prior Halloween’s entailed me making my costume from scratch and usually would win several prizes. Luckily for me Robin had her old cheerleading outfit. Not my best costume ever but on short notice it would do.
That evening when Rick picked me up he told Robin and I that he didn’t have a costume. Robin told him to go as a flasher. Robin remembered I had a rain coat that would fit him as well as the perfect squirt gun to complete the ensemble. Considering this was our first date I would have preferred not to whip out the squirt gun.
A few years earlier I worked at the St. Louis BBB. My supervisor, Betsy Hooper was something of a bully and you didn’t want to cross her. Betsy planned a party that was after work at her home in downtown St. Louis. Her party was similar to a Tupperware party, only instead of food containers it was sex toys.
This party was not really my thing and I lived in IL. I tried hard to get out of going. I lived 51 miles from work. My day would begin with driving from Jerseyville to Alton 21 miles. In Alton I would park at Lincoln Douglas Square. This was where Lincoln and Douglas had their famous final debate on October 15, 1858. It’s also the bus stop that drove me 30 more miles to 440 4th St. I had a view of the Arch from our building. I spent 4 hours daily on this commute for almost 5 years.
Betsy would only take yes for an answer. She would personally drive me to my car at the bus stop after the party. Needless to say I attended the party. It was fun and I felt like I had to buy something. There was a life sized penis ice mold for a drink that cracked me up (later it cracked up my granny Garnet when it popped up in her drink). My final purchase was a penis squirt gun. To this day I still have the squirt gun...LOL
Since I was moving to Carmen’s in the morning I had packed everything. Had to unpack a couple of boxes before I found the squirt gun and rain coat. Rick cracked up over the squirt gun. His costume was a huge hit at the party that night. .
We were going to Mark Burnett’s early and have dinner with him and his girlfriend before anybody came to the party. When we got into Rick’s Ford Ranger truck he immediately apologized for picking me up in his work truck. He then elaborated that his 1976 Corvette was in the shop.
I’ve never been a superficial monetary kind of person. According to my daughter’s podcasts I’m an old hippie and she’s correct on that point . It never crossed my mind that his truck was not good enough for our date and I told Rick that. As he drove us to Mark’s he asked if I would mind getting an envelope out of the glove box for him. Not a problem, found the bank envelope and handed it to him. Rick handed it back to me and asked me if I minded counting it for him.
In my mind as I am counting $5,000 in cash, I’m thinking good grief this guy must be a freaking drug dealer. I told him what had just crossed my mind. He told me he did smoke pot but he assured me he wasn’t a drug dealer. He just wanted to make sure the amount of cash was accurate.
The money was a down payment on his first sprinkler job on his own. I was close though, I found out later that his first client was a drug dealer laundering money by building a tree nursery. I would also find out later that Rick was not licensed to do irrigation jobs.
Rick had an irrigation company that would end up doing jobs without a license for six years. This will be a problem and constant stress for him until he finally passed the test and was licensed in the Spring of 1992. Rick missed his brother David’s wedding because his test fell on the same day.
We arrived in Wellington and I met Mark and his girlfriend whose name I can’t remember. I really liked them, especially Mark. Mark and Rick became friends while working together as life insurance salesmen a few years earlier.
Mark was a shoe salesman when we met and later would become a mailman. His girlfriend was currently a mail lady and a widow with 2 children. Mark was a good friend and one of the groomsmen at our wedding. Amy and Mark would hook up during our wedding when his girlfriend left early. About a year after our wedding Mark and his girlfriend will break up. Mark will move to TN. I’m not sure if Rick stayed in touch with him.
Just before the Halloween party started I changed into my cheerleading costume. Rick was already in a short sleeve shirt and shorts. Once he put on the raincoat and filled up the squirt gun he was good to go, except for one thing. He wondered if I would put his “Rolex” in my purse for safe keeping. Smiling as I flipped over the watch, glanced at the back of it and put it in my purse.
By this time I had the impression Rick was trying his best to impress me.
First the mention of his corvette (in ten years we were together the corvette was operational about three months tops). On Danica’s podcast she mentioned that at one time I put sugar in the corvettes gas tank. Seriously? Why would anyone put sugar in a gas tank of a car that never ran?
Second he needs me to count his cash. Cmon, It’s hard to believe he hadn’t counted $5,000 cash prior to leaving the job site.
Finally, the Rolex. Flashers don’t take their watches off. Why would you need me to keep your fake Rolex in my purse? Rick thought since I hadn’t commented on his watch he would draw my attention to it. He thought I was impressed and I let him think it.
Guess what I received from him that Christmas? A fake Rolex 😉

Killian watched Emma yawn for the second time as she reached the archway of Granny’s patio, the first having erupted when she stepped out of the door of the diner into the night. She had circles under her eyes, and her gait was far slower than usual, even if “usual” was running into whatever danger Storybrooke and its citizens found themselves in.
She and David were catching up about their work schedule over the next couple of days, and Killian hung behind, walking with Snow, who was holding her sleeping son in her arms. As Emma reached her car, she glanced at Killian with a small tip of her head toward the passenger side, barely stifling yawn number three.
He raised his finger to signal he needed a moment. As David took the baby from Snow to finagle the child into his car seat, Killian reached over and placed his hand on Snow’s arm, stopping her.
“A word, Snow?”
“Uh, sure, Killian. What is it?”
Snow glanced over at David’s progress then back at Killian and smiled.
“I was wondering if I may ask a favor of you.”
“Of course, anything,” she said.
He nodded toward the street where the cars sat idling. “Would you have time to teach me how to pilot one these vessels?”
Snow looked happily surprised. “Driving lessons?”
“Aye.”
Smiling brightly, she said, “I think I can squeeze that in.”
“I’m much obliged.”
A puzzled look passed over Snow’s face as she considered Killian. “Mind if I ask something?”
“Of course not,” he said.
“Why not Emma? Or David?”
“Emma’s busy enough. I don't need to be under foot all the time. And I’ve seen what happens when David teaches someone to drive. I’d rather not cause any more damage to his truck. Or the town.”
Snow laughed. “His truck is becoming a bit of an eyesore. And I’m not sure the city budget can take another hit either. Do you want to start tomorrow? How about 10am?”
“Perfect. I’ll see you then.” Killian bowed. “Thank you, m’lady.”
When Killian arrived at the loft, Snow was just finishing tucking her baby into a sweater. Picking up a bag in one hand, and hefting the babe onto her hip, she grinned at Killian.
“Right on time! Are you excited?”
He didn’t know if “excited” was the best way to describe what he was feeling. Learning a new skill wasn’t beyond him, but having been been hit by a vehicle, he was more than aware of the damage it could cause. His cautiousness was overshadowed by his need to adapt to this world now that it looked like he’d be staying for the duration, or at least until they were forced to some other realm.
“Aye,” he answered with a tense smile that disappeared as quickly.
Snow waved her hand, dismissing his obvious reticence. “Oh, you’ll get it in no time. And you won’t have to get cursed first to do it. Count yourself among the lucky,” Snow said as she locked the door to the loft behind her.
“You’ll be needing these,” she said, handing the keys to Killian, who watched as the baby followed the sound of the jingling with his eyes, a toothless smile working its way between chubby cheeks.
He smiled at the lad in return, giving the keys an extra shake for the boy’s amusement, and followed Snow down the stairs. Killian held the door open for mother and child and they walked over to her car parked near the entrance of the building. It was bigger and taller than Emma’s and the color of red wine.
“Why don’t you go get in the car while I get this little guy strapped in. He loves going for rides. Don’t you?” she cooed at her son who squealed in delight at his mother’s attention.
“Are you sure it’s a good idea to bring him along for my first lesson?” Killian asked.
Snow popped her head back out of the car to answer. “I'm sure you’ll be careful.”
Killian wasn’t sure if that was meant to be assurance or a threat, but it didn’t matter. Careful was his goal regardless. He walked around to the driver’s side of the car and opened the door. With a deep breath he got in and looked at the dashboard. Sailing a ship seemed far easier in that moment. Not that it wasn’t a complex operation, mind, but this… this seemed like too much information at one time to pilot such a small vehicle.
With the babe secure and babbling to himself in his carseat, Snow slid into the passenger seat and pulled the seatbelt over her chest and latched it into the buckle with a snap. She looked over at Killian and nodded.
“You too, Captain.”
Having been preoccupied with all that lay at his fingertips, Killian had forgotten. “Right,” he said and did the same.
“Better than lashing yourself to the mast, huh?” Snow teased.
“Definitely less damp.”
It had been a while since any of them had brought up their ill-fated encounter with the tempest mermaid, and Killian was glad at least they could laugh about it now.
“Is it hard to sail a ship?” Snow asked.
“Steering a ship is easy enough. Navigating is another thing entirely though. Doing both during a storm is...tricky.”
“How long did it take you to learn?”
Killian frowned as he looked out into the distance. He fiddled with his rings as he tried to remember without thinking too much about why he knew. “Well, I’d been aboard ships from a young age, so in some respects, I absorbed knowledge along the way. The Royal Navy refined and expanded that knowledge and gave me more experience. All totaled, though? Several years.”
Snow nodded. “This won’t take that long. From what I’ve seen, you’re a quick study.”
Smacking the tops of her thighs with palms of her hands, Snow asked with a bright smile,  “Ready?!”
“Aye,” Killian said with less enthusiasm than his teacher but ready nonetheless.
He put the key into the ignition as he’d seen Emma do many times, but before he could turn it and start the engine, Snow placed a hand on his forearm.
“Before we start driving, let’s get you oriented. Okay?”
“Please.”
“So, some of this we can translate into terms you are more familiar with if you think that will help.”
Killian looked at Snow, curious. “How so?”
She gestured at everything in front of him. “For instance: the dashboard is your helm and navigation.”
“Excellent.”
She pointed to the center of the console with a round, compass-like section with numbers increasing from 0 to 120. “That section tells your speed in miles per hour, not knots. Around here, you want to keep it hovering near 25 to 30. Highways are faster, but that’s not where we are starting. We’ll do that later.”
She pointed out the other indicators: fuel gauge, engine temperature, clock, oil level, and wrapped up with, “You don't need to know all of this all the time, but it's there when you do. It looks overwhelming, I know.”
Killian nodded. He wondered if he would ever feel that same carefree exhilaration he did on his ship when they sailed at a good clip, the trade winds favorable, and the seas welcoming. He couldn’t imagine, as he sat in that metal box, the two could ever compare.
“Look down where your feet are. There are two pedals. The left… uh port?” Killian gave a quick nod in confirmation. “The port pedal is your anchor, let’s say.”
Killian tapped it with his foot and felt the resistance.
“The other pedal is your...wind. It’s the gas pedal and makes the car pick up speed. You use the same foot to operate both pedals because you really only use one or the other, not both at the same time. “
Killian nodded, impressed with Snow’s instruction. “Understood.”
“Good. Ok, so one of the most important things about driving on the road with others is communication.”
“I’ve seen how this realm communicates with other travelers; sailors are far more colorful with their insults.”
Snow laughed. “No, no, I don’t mean that. I mean it comes to that if you don’t let drivers know what you are about to do, but I don’t mean yelling at each other—especially the ones who can do magic. The car itself has means to communicate what you are doing. Don’t ships signal their intentions when they are near other ships?”
“They do. Will I need to hire a signalman to ride along? I may have an extra set of flags aboard the Jolly Roger.” Killian grinned and winked at Snow.
Rolling her eyes, Snow shook her head. “Funny. No. See that lever to the left of the steering wheel? That’s your turn signal. You have to push it up when you are going to turn… starboard. Push it down to turn port side.”
“Aye.”
“Excellent. Before you go anywhere you need to check around the car to make sure you aren’t going to hit anyone and no one is going to hit you. That’s what the mirrors are for. Consider them spy glasses.”
Killian glanced at all three mirrors to check the areas they reflected. He slumped down in his seat a little and checked again.
“Oh! You can adjust the mirrors to suit you. They move. See?” Snow moved the rearview mirror to demonstrate, and then Killian reached up and readjusted it so he could sit more comfortably and see behind.
“Can you see everything?”
“I think so.”
“Last thing. You have to use this,” she said, resting her hand on the gear shift, “to let the car know what you want it to do. ‘D’ is for ‘drive’ and ‘P’ is for ‘park.’ ‘R’ is for ‘reverse’ and ‘N’ is for ‘neutral.’ You press down on that button by your thumb and move the stick next to the letter. Make sense?”
Killian nodded slowly, but he looked confused.
“Snow, I think your car is different. This,” he said, gripping the gear shift, “is not the same as in Emma’s car. Does it matter?”
“Oh, you're right! Emma has a stick shift, doesn't she? Damn.” Snow’s dark brows furrowed as she frowned. She thought for a moment and shook her head. “You know what? For today it doesn't matter. We’ll just do the basics and get you used to being behind the wheel. Okay?”
“Aye, if you think that's the right course.”
“I do. Let’s drive.”
“So,” Emma began, coming up behind Killian as he sat on the couch in their living room. She wrapped her arms around his shoulders and softly kissed his neck. “How was your first driving lesson?”
Killian reached up and caressed Emma’s arm with his hook. “Regina won’t be coming after me for damages, and your brother will live to see his first birthday.”
“All important things,” she laughed. Emma kissed him once more on the cheek and let go of him, heading around the couch to sit next to him instead.
“Aside from that, your mother’s patience is fathomless. Which, not surprising, given your father and her history with Regina.”
Emma snorted as she curled her legs under her. “And let’s not forget the dwarves.”
“If it’s all the same, I’d rather. And how was work today, love?”
Emma shrugged. “Managed to avoid curses, bad guys, and indigestion after lunch at Granny’s.”
“Boring day then,” Killian said, drawing her closer and kissing her temple.
“Pretty much.” Emma snuggled into Killian and wrapped her arms around his middle. “Did you like driving?”
“It wasn’t quite as liberating as the open seas, but I think in time, I’ll enjoy it more. I’m too worried about damaging someone or something to feel anything besides caution.”
Emma patted his ribs and looked up at him. “Understandable, having been on the wrong side of a moving car and all.”
“Aye.”
“What was your favorite part?”
Killian twined a lock Emma’s hair around his finger. “Knowing that once I have more practice, I can relieve you of some burdens around here.”
She looked up at him, momentarily stunned. “Is that why you are doing this? I just thought you were ready to learn.”
“I suppose that’s part of it, but mostly I want to lighten your load.”
Emma sat up and shifted to straddle Killian’s lap kissing him soundly, taking his breath away.
She pulled back, anchoring her fingers in his hair, and looking at him with mischief in her eyes. “Maybe we’d have more time for… other things.”
“‘Other things.’ Sounds intriguing.” Killian pressed the curve of his hook into her lower back, urging her closer.
Emma kissed him softly, one hand cupping his jaw and the other flat on his chest, his heartbeat thrumming steadily beneath it. She moved barely a hair’s breadth away and asked, “When’s your next lesson?”
“Day after tomorrow.”
Smiling, she said, “Good. That gives us some time.”
“Not...nearly...enough,” Killian said between kisses along Emma’s jaw.
At the appointed time, Killian made his way to the loft for his next driving lesson with Snow. He was surprised to see Emma’s bright yellow car parked outside the building rather than Snow’s. She hadn’t mentioned anything that morning about being there, nor did she offer him a ride into town, either.
Just as he was about to open the door to the apartment building, Snow came out, beaming at him.
Killian looked past her, waiting for Emma to follow. Snow followed his gaze and then shook her head, waving her hand.
“Emma’s not here. We’re just borrowing her car. I couldn’t find another standard, and since this is the car you’ll be driving anyway, I asked Emma if we could borrow it. She has my car if she needs to go anywhere.”
“Ah,” was all Killian could say. He was disappointed not to see Emma, of course, but he also felt bad that the one thing that he was trying to do to relieve her of some responsibility only added to it in the end. He sighed and forced a smile. He didn’t want Snow to think he didn’t appreciate her careful thought into his lessons.
“Where’s the lad?” he asked, changing the subject before Snow could clue into his frustration even if it was only with himself.
“He’s with Ashley. There’s not a car seat safe enough to withstand a first time driver using a stick shift.” Killian’s brows furrowed with a tinge of distress. “You’ll see what I mean in a minute. Shall we?”
Snow held out Emma’s keys to Killian, and he took them and got into the car.
“I’d forgotten how cozy this car is,” Snow said as she buckled in, bumping Killian’s arm in the process. “It’s been a while.”
Killian remembered feeling a touch of claustrophobia the first time he rode in the car when he, Swan, and Henry returned to Storybrooke from New York. The bright yellow “Bug” as Emma called it, was a far cry from the deck of his ship, but it served its purpose well and they made the long journey unscathed. He’d gotten used to traveling this way, and honestly didn’t mind the close quarters of the car. Any time he could be close to Emma was more than acceptable to him.
Adjusting his seat to better fit his legs comfortably before buckling in, Killian noticed how much less information there was available on the dashboard. This car only kept track of speed and fuel, and both were contained in the same circle. The sense of relief he felt at not having to monitor multiple things while learning this car’s quirks was palpable.
“So, you’ve obviously paid some attention to how Emma drives this car,” Snow said, interrupting Killian’s thoughts.
“Aye, some. I know she uses that,” he nodded at the stick shift between them, “and other cars I’ve been in do not.”
“Right. Other cars, like mine, only require you to use the gear shift to move between states like driving and parking and reverse. Manual cars, like Emma’s, require you to shift into other gears as you accelerate or decelerate, too. It’s more thinking at first, but once you get the hang of it, it will all be second nature.”
“You sound like you speak from experience. How did you learn to drive a car like this?”
Snow laughed. “First curse. The cars were older, some were standards, or manuals, like this, and others were automatics. We all sort of inherited the knowledge when the curse brought us over. When...I brought us over trying to get away from Zelena, the technology updated to something slightly more modern, and we ended up with automatics. That’s why it was so hard to find one for us to use.” Snow thought for a moment. “Maybe next time we’ll get hovercraft.”
Raising an eyebrow, Killian asked, “Next time?”
“Kidding. I hope. You never know around here.”
“Truer words, milady.”
“Alright. Let’s get started. I’m not sure exactly how to translate using a clutch into sailing terms. Don’t know enough about sailing, really. Probably need to abandon that comparison.”
“I’m sure I can figure it out, although I do appreciate you trying. It’s very kind of you.”
Snow smiled. “That’s what good teachers do, Killian. Make things relatable. That way the information sticks.”
She was right. His connection to the process of driving by giving the most basic of nautical terms made the whole lesson sink in that much faster and gave him the information he needed to be successful without having to be directed constantly. He was far more confident about driving because of it.
“Ready?”
“Aye. I think so.”
Snow ran through how the gear shift and the clutch worked together, and then pointed out the map of gear locations on the knob of the stick. It seemed simple enough: engage the clutch, shift to the proper gear, release the clutch. He knew from observing Emma, that’s what she did.
“Now, I know that sounds simple, but there’s more finesse to it than that. You have to sort of balance the transfer between gas and clutch, otherwise the car stalls out. You’ll use both feet at the same time—left on the clutch, right working the gas and brake. It’s easy to bungle it, so you might as well start off now forgiving yourself.”
“Not one of my stronger suits.”
“Aaand that’s why I’m warning you now. Everyone—and I mean everyone —who learns how to drive a standard bucks the car.”
“Like a horse ?” he asked, incredulous. Swan had never done such a thing that he’d seen.
Snow scrunched her nose and tilted her head to the side as if afraid to break the news.
“Kinda? You won’t topple out the back and break anything, but it is jarring. But that’s ok,” she said, patting him on the arm. “You aren’t hurting the car. Much. So, take a couple of deep breaths and fire up the engine after you press and hold down on the clutch,” Snow said.
Killian shot her a dubious glance, but pressed the clutch to the floor and turned the key in the ignition, stepping on the gas just enough. The engine rattled to life and the car jiggled a little as it always did. So far, so good. He glanced down at the stick shift to make sure he knew where he was moving it to first.
“Same rules apply as yesterday,” Snow reminded him. “Check your mirrors and make sure no one is coming.”
He did, and as he rocked the gear shift back and forth as he had seen Emma do on countless occasions, he felt how loose it was in its neutral position.
“Slip it into first gear—but don’t let go of the clutch yet!” Snow cried out a little too late.
The car bucked, just as she had warned him, and then the engine stalled.
Killian’s jaw twitched. Snow slid her hands off the dash where she had braced herself.
“Hey, it’s ok. You’re getting it out of the way early. It’s fine.”
“It doesn’t feel fine!” Killian snapped. The motion of the car jerking as hard as it did threw Killian for a loop. Not that it wasn’t akin to a horse bucking, but it was far more forceful—as if the whole car were going to fling itself off its axle. That certainly would help neither him nor Emma.
Snow arched her dark brows. “I did warn you.”
Killian looked down at his lap and sighed. “Aye, you did. Sorry.”
“Try again. You’ll need to shift into second gear pretty quickly once you get on the road, so leave your hand on the stick.”
“Aye.”
Killian pressed down on the clutch, started the engine and took a deep breath, exhaling slowly as he checked the mirrors yet again to be sure no one was coming down the road. He moved the stick into first gear, and as he began the transfer between the clutch and gas, he reached for the steering wheel with his hook to turn the car left onto the road. His hook caught on the steering wheel at first, but then it slipped off, distracting him, and causing him to buck the car again.
The engine stalled with a heaving shudder.
“Bloody hell!” he bit out from between clenched teeth.
“Oh,” was all Snow said. She looked crestfallen. “I didn’t even… I forgot… ”
The design of the steering wheel made it practically impossible for Killian to find a good place to use his hook to help steer while his hand was on the gear shift. The horizontal bar that ran the diameter of the wheel was too low to help him spin it left or right without twisting his arm uncomfortably or without accidentally jamming his his hook into his thigh.
Not for the first time, Killian cursed The Crocodile for taking his hand. He’d retaliated by turning his disadvantage into an effective weapon he wielded with deadly accuracy. His hook was more than a nom de guerre used to frighten his enemies; in the years after Milah’s death, he was that hook. Utilitarian yet violent. Beyond his unfortunate relationship to it, he was simply more comfortable having it on than anything else. He supposed he could use his wooden hand for driving, but it was awkward and not particularly useful other than to give the illusion of him being whole.
In this realm, it was becoming abundantly clear his hook was a poor substitute.
Sighing from deep down near his belly, Killian removed the keys and passed them over to Snow who took them reluctantly. He bowed his head briefly, a bitter smile on his lips, and his brows furrowed deeply.
“I thank you, Snow, for taking the time to teach me what you could. But I need some time to think about this particular venture in light of my...limitations.”
He could see Snow’s usual determination rising, and her mouth opening, no doubt to give him a speech about perseverance in the face of adversity, but he cut it off with a hard look that brooked no argument.
Snow sighed and shrugged sadly.
“Can I drop you off at home at least?” she asked.
He shook his head. “No need. I’m not going home. I’m going to go drive something I know I can maneuver with this hardware,” he pronounced, holding up his hook.
Snow’s eyes widened and a smile began to form. “Oh! Killian! Wait! I think I—”
Killian had already opened the door and stepped out. He leaned down and looked at Snow. “Thank you,” he said again and turned, heading toward the docks and The Jolly Roger.
The sun was setting when Killian pulled The Jolly Roger into her berth. Emma stood, bathed in soft golden light, leaning against the hood of her Bug in the parking lot nearby. She cocked her head and smiled at him as he waved. She walked toward the ship as he dropped anchor. Wordlessly, she caught a spring line he tossed to her and tied it to the cleat at the edge of the dock. Then, the two of them tied off the bow line securing the ship for the night.
“Ahoy, Captain,” Emma said as she tucked her hand around Killian’s elbow. “Feel better?”
“I do now.”
“Mom told me what happened today.”
“Mmm,” he hummed, wrinkling his nose in distaste at the way he handled the situation.
“It’s ok, you know. We can get a different car that you can drive.”
“I don’t want you to give up your car for me before you’re ready. And I don’t want to cause more trouble. I’ve done enough of that already.”
Emma chuckled. “Well, buying a car is worse than going to the Underworld, I’ll grant you that. But for you? I’d do it.”
“I appreciate that, love, but unfortunately, it’s not entirely the point.”
“Then what is?”
He’d given that particular question a fair amount of thought as he sailed around the bay. He was one man capable of sailing a ship by himself, one-handed, but he couldn’t manage a small car. It was humiliating, frankly. He wanted to experience the freedom he felt on the seas no matter where he was. But over the last few weeks, little things were piling up, reminding him that he was not truly as independent as he’d like. Failing to drive Emma’s car because of his own short-coming dredged up feelings he’d thought he’d long buried.
Killian paused and looked into Emma’s eyes, which held no judgement for his lack of decorum earlier.
“Self-sufficiency,” he said.
Emma nodded. “Ah. That I understand. So why run off? Why not stick with it? No pun intended.”
Killian snorted softly and looked away, continuing to walk toward her car. “I let my bruised ego get the better of me. I had convinced myself I could do anything if it were for you, but when that failed, well...” he sighed, looking chagrined.
“You needed to go feel like yourself again?”
“I needed to rethink why I was truly doing it in the first place. You were certainly part of the equation, but you weren’t all of it.”
Squeezing his arm, Emma leaned her head on his shoulder.
“You know,” she said, “mom told me how quickly you were picking up driving the first day. This is just a minor set-back. Besides, I thought you liked a challenge.”
“I do,” he said, kissing the top of her head. “But this realm has more challenges for me than I’m used to some days. I can’t play Henry’s game, it’s difficult for me to use that...what is it? Keyboard. For the magic box—”
“Computer.”
“Aye. Computer. Being unable to master driving your car felt like one more indication I didn’t fit in this world no matter how hard I worked at it.”
Emma came around and stood in front of him grasping both his hand and hook. “Hey, you do fit in this world. You fit in my world. And I don’t give a rat’s ass if you can drive my stupid car. It’s not like I can sail your boat.”
“Ship. And you have sailed her when I couldn’t.”
“Ship . And that was a poorly written story and you weren’t you at the time. Plus I had Henry to help. I can’t sail her by myself like you can. I like having you beside me as navigator when I drive. It’s an important job.”
“Is that so, Captain?” Killian asked as he slipped his arms around her waist and walked Emma back until she was leaning against the hood of the car.
“Aye,” she answered. Standing on her tip-toes, Emma kissed him as the sun’s rays peeked their last on the horizon.
Two days later, Killian was in the living room, reading a book Belle had loaned him, when he heard the sound of beeping outside. He knew that sound. It was Emma’s car, but she was at work for at least a few more hours.
He shoved his makeshift bookmark—a note from Emma telling him not to eat all the bon-bons—into the book and made his way to the front door and opened it. Expecting to see Emma, he was surprised to see Snow standing there instead. She looked at him expectantly, tapping her foot.
“You didn’t think your driving lessons were over, did you?”
Killian shrugged. “I thought I had worn out my welcome after my...tantrum.”
Snow laughed, shaking her head. “Oh, no. I am a teacher. I’ve seen worse tantrums. Let’s go, Captain. I’ve got a surprise for you.”
Reaching over to grab his jacket, Killian could not imagine what Snow had up her sleeve.
The car was running when he reached it, and Snow held out her arm, gesturing for him to take his seat. Sliding into the driver’s side, Killian could not believe what he was seeing.
Placed along the top of the wheel were four wooden knobs at regular intervals, like the spindles on the wheel of the helm of The Jolly Roger. He touched each of them, the finish on them smooth and the warm brown, rich. He tested his hook around one of them and it was the same solid connection and ease of movement. Killian looked up in awe at Snow who was standing by the still open door. She could barely contain her glee at his reaction and pointed at one of the knobs.
“Did you see?! That one has a compass!”
Sure enough, a small compass had been inlaid into the knob, its needle bobbing gently as it pointed north.
“And they can all be adjusted to different locations if you need them to be. They are screwed on. See?”
Killian glanced underneath the knobs to see the butterfly screws holding the knobs onto the wheel.
“I don’t know what to say. This is…”
“Pretty awesome, right?” Snow finished for him.
“Indeed.” Killian stepped out of the car and folded Snow into a tight hug. “Thank you,” he whispered. He could barely speak.
Snow returned his hug and patted his back. “You ready for a lesson?” she asked.
Killian just nodded trying to pull himself together. He’d all but resigned himself to waiting until the day when Emma got a new car to drive. He wasn’t expecting this. It was more than he could have hoped for after his exit the other day.
Snow scurried around to her side as Killian sat back down on his. Buckling in, Killian looked at Snow with amazement.
“Are you going to share how this all came to be?” he asked.
Snow gave a short laugh. “Well, you gave me the idea when you said you were going to go drive something you could maneuver with your hook. Instead of bringing the car back to Emma, I stopped off at Marco’s and told him my idea and this is what we came up with. He took the wheel measurements and it was his idea to include the compass.”
“It’s bloody brilliant. The whole thing. I can’t thank you—or Marco—enough.”
Patting his leg, Snow nodded. “Shall we go thank him in person?”
“Aye.”
Several nights later, Killian, Emma, and her parents were leaving Granny’s after their weekly dinner together. Killian watched Emma yawn deeply as she approached the car. He reached over and plucked the keys from her hand, opening the passenger side door for her instead.
“Allow me, love,” he said.
“Oh, I get to play navigator tonight, do I?” Emma asked, tugging on the lapel of Killian’s jacket.
“I hear it’s a very important job.”

Male vs. female car insurance?
So as a 16 year old male driver, I'm aware that car insurance rates for me are significantly higher than a same age female driver, just because of my gender. How are insurance companies able to do this, no matter how many statistics they have saying we crash more, speed more often, ect...? This is discrimination vs. my gender, and for all they know I could drive like a granny. Now consider this: if statistics showed that blacks were twice as likely to crash than whites, could insurance companies charge more? No way! The NAACP would be all over them. That would be unfair to the black drivers that may drive safe. I just dont get why I am charged way more than what a girl gets charged, even though I am a very safe driver.""

Is a Nissan 370z or even 350z good and affordable for a new driver? Im only 2 years away from getting my G2 and even though it's really early I would like to start thinking about a good affordable car, yeah yeah why am I getting a 350z/370z when Im looking for cheap and affordable? It's because I would like to try and take it to track days at some local tracks and race when I get my G license. Please don't tell me to stop worry about it you're too young blah blah blah stupidity, in some cases it may be true I just don't care, sorry for my rudeness I get the talk way to much and it's really starting to get annoying. Does your driving test score affect your insurance rates?
Some people are telling me that the higher the score you get on your driving test, the lower your insurance will be. For example, if you score 80 points compared to someone how scores 100 (full points), the person with 100 points will have lower insurance costs. What's the cheapest bike to insure for a 16 year old that still meets my requirements?
I'm 16. I've had my motorcycle license since December 2009, so that would be a year and about 4 months. (This is Oklahoma, you can get a motorcycle license at 14, but I had a late start.) My 17th birthday is in 2 months. I've been driving a car lately, but now I'm wanting to find another bike. However, it has to meet some requirements- it has to be good on the highway, since I live several miles from town and go on the highway almost every day, it has to be smaller than 500cc (not because of ability, just preference, I don't like big engines), and it has to be good on gas- at least 50 mpg. I don't car about the age, I know most people my age want the newest, coolest thing; personally, I don't care. I'd drive some 1963 rust-bucket so long as it ran. I'm just looking for the cheapest bike to insure for my age that still meets those requirements.""

What companies are still insuring unoccupied and or second homes?
This seems to be a new trend. It seems that insurance companies are canceling Homeowner's policies of their customers who are selling their homes! Once the client has to move out to their new home the insurance company cancels the policy on the home that's still for sale. This is being done even if the customer has been a client for over 30 years and is using that company for the new home! Sellers are having a rough enough time with the real estate market these days! What can be done about this? Also suppose the seller decides not to sell but keep the home as a vacation spot? Are second homes being uninsured also?

""What would you do, get the used car or new one?""
Okay so ever since years ago I've known that my grandpa has an account for me and his other grand kids for our first car. There is a limit. Now, I went out and picked out the car I wanted. A 2009 Toyota Corolla. Which I can pick any car, new or used as long as it is below the spending limit. (mine is that I picked) But my aunt, (Who is in charge of the money sorta, but will let me get what I want cuz she has no say) Is trying to convince me to get a used car and spend like max 5,000 on it. Her friend's son's friend is selling his car for 1,000. it has 200,000 miles on it and looks like a piece of crud. Needs new tires.. all that stuff. She thinks I should get this car or another used car because mostly all teens get in an accident when they first start driving (I am 18) but so what? Even if I get in an accident in a new of used car, thats what insurance is for! And I got quotes already on my new car how much it would be, It wont be in my name either because it'll be wayy more. So my quesiton is: Would you spend the full amount on the car you want now? Or waste 5grand (or less) on a crap car that will mostly suck away the money from that account (if something happens cuz its so old) She says that in a year or so I can still get the car I want. (I would have enough money) But thats not the point.. I don't see wasting 5grand on a car. And it would be wasting. What do you think? Whats should I do and how can I say no to her idea thanks :)""
