@flamingo-strikes tagged me in a game to list either 9 of my fave books of 2023, or the 9 top books on my 2024 to be read
now i read one (1) book in 2023 so i will Also be choosing the latter XD, thanks zaina!!!
Ghosts of Gold Mountain by Gordon H. Chang - i love california history and i love railroads!! this book talks about the chinese people that built the transcontinental railroad so im sure i will not cry about it
People Love Dead Jews by Dara Horn - yeah that title is pretty self explanatory
Fen, Bog & Swamp by Annie Proulx - idk this just looked interesting and i love making myself depressed with climate change ig
Unmasking AI by Joy Buolamwini - part of me wants to read this just for the badass cover but also genuinly "ai" is one of those hot button topics that i think would be fun to read about
Driving the Green Book by Alvin Hall - the green book is something i learned about via urbanism and i think it might be an interesting read, certainly eye opening the way that black americans had to live both in the past and into today
Quackery by Lydia Kang and Nate Pedersen - i read a book in January called the history of the world in six glasses, it was really good and the coke section sent me into some sort of something about patent medicine so i added this to my list
The Cost of Free Land by Rebecca Clarren - ://// yep its more books depression, this time about jewish diaspora and native rights yaaaay
Hijab Butch Blues by Lamya H - another book i slapped right onto my tbr because of the title, also partially because of how mad some of the GR comments are
Before We Were Trans by Dr. Kit Heyam - this looked really interesting i wanted to learn more about non european forms of gender.
