my thing with hotd is you can clearly tell that they didn’t expect people to actually like the worldbuilding and political scheming so they tried to rush through to get to the dance immediately and they’ve kinda (seemingly) screwed over the rest of this season.

#cutting characters they didn’t think were super important #so now a bunch of people have deaths clearly designed for us to feel something over #but we don’t because they didn’t spend enough time building the characters #i still enjoy the show and i think (i hope) they’ll be able to find their footing in s2 #also i’m not as upset about laena’s death as other people are but i still don’t really like it #even though grrm didn’t really expand on laena in f&b he did give us something and they completely cut that #and i actually do like the change they made regarding alicent and rhaenyra (making them the same age and friends) #i just wish it didn’t come at the cost of laena #anyways im rambling #house of the dragon #hotd season 1 #hotd thoughts #hotd #harwin strong #rhaenyra x harwin #rhaenyra targaryen #alicent hightower #laena velaryon #laena targaryen
