do you know anything about how using an editor works? Like do they send in the raw footage and the editor does whatever based on their style of editing or do they send the footage with a bunch of pointers of things to cut/include and the editor goes from there?

it depends completely from person to person! so you either just get sent raw footage and do what you want with it but then after you’ll send it back and forth for re edits based on feedback until you get something everyone is happy with or you’ll get sent footage with a brief that tells you what is wanted from the edit and you do as your told (i like to do what i’m told as one edit and do what client wants as another and then send them both cos sometimes they’ll realise your edit is better than what they wanted lmao) also in this scenario you go back and forth with different versions too.

i imagine in a dnp context they probably have a list of must have and pls avoids that they send and then tbh judging by some of the edits in spooky week they probably let the editor have control of editing style
