ofmd mall au where izzy is the manager of the hot topic (he takes it way too seriously & is also the only one over the age of 30 who works there). ed is a longtime punk & one of his his best customers. izzy thinks they're friends. & ed does like him, but also really likes being on his good side because izzy has the manager override code & always gives him the best discounts.

until the claire's across the mall pavilion hires a new manager, stede. suddenly ed is dressing in rainbows & obsesed with the 90's nostalgia vibes.

izzy & stede have a professional rivalry from across the mall pavilion. they get sooooo competitive about sales & quarterly margins. when stede/claire's starts outpacing izzy/hot hopic, izzy gets mad & calls ed a poser & accuses him of not being "a real punk" because he's wearing pink nail polish instead of black.
