Horace Parlan "Arrival" 二つ目は'70年代のピアノ作品から。前述タイナーの10年後1973年12月21,22日、Rosenberg, Studio, Copenhagen録音、オリジナルは #SteepleChaseRecords 、本盤は #InnerCityRecords からの再発盤、カット盤。 ホレス・パーラン渡欧後の新しい本作に▲Jazz beginner's personal challenge No. 23。 Steeple Chaseの録音は、ドラムの音に独特の軽さがある。ケニー・ドリュー"Dark Beauty"もそう。北欧コペンハーゲンのジャズは、静寂、乾き、洗練、エレガント、落ち着いた上質感のある大人のジャズ、本作も重たくないリラックス出来る聴きやすい作品。選曲もいい。 Inner City Recordsはニューヨークで1976年IRV Kratkaによって設立されたジャズ・レコード会社。再発盤から始まり、様々なタイプのジャズをカバー。1976年から1980年の間に60枚以上のアルバムをリリース。International Jazz Critics Pollで1979年に #RecordLabeloftheYear を獲得。 ホレス・パーランの大名盤と言えば、1960年4月20日録音、Blue Noteレーベル4000番台の"Us Three"。 しかし、SteepleChaseからのこの"Arrival"や"Blue Parlan","No Blues"等はもっと評価されるべき好盤だと。 '60年代後半からジャズ界は冬の時代、パーランも欧州へ。1970年に南アフリカの歌手ミリアム・マケバと初の北欧ツアー、喉の不調でデンマーク公演をキャンセル、5日間フリータイムでコペンハーゲンの町を散策することに。 「当時のカフェ・モンマルトルは大盛況で、デクスター・ゴードン、ベン・ウェブスター、ケニー・ドリューらの米国人ミュージシャン村もあり友人が沢山いて、その時住むならここ！と思った」 1973年にコペンハーゲンに移住、ソニー・ロリンズやアル・コーン＆ズート・シムスの双頭コンボなど様々のミュージシャンと共演。 SteepleChaseでの音のイメージは、渡欧以前の漆黒の打楽器的フィーリングとは大きく変化。レーベル・カラーか北欧の雰囲気か、彼本来の才能が目覚め、世界的な名声を得ることになる。 #jazz #fuzey #horaceparlan (p) #idreessulieman (flh) #bentjædig (ts) #hugorasmussen (b) #edthigpen (ds) #jazzrecords #ジャズ #vinyl #jazzalbum #スイングジャーナル
