just a lil reminder that Judicators and K'Nauth had a choice about defacing themselves and becoming vessels for their gods
the Ruidusborn Exaltants? who all felt fated to be in the Hellcatch? y'know, the ones like Imogen who are developing scars and physical disfigurement by just existing?
they didn't.

Listen I know the Judicators are like ultra religious boogey men of Vasselheim and you would not want to meet one down a dark alley at night
BUT their aesthetics and lore are awesome. you as a disciple were so devoted to the gods you underwent extreme trials of faith, relinquished your identities and just became an all around powerhouse in the process not to mention the uniforms absolutely fuck cause you have to look fabulous while you hunt down religious heretics who stole secret religious lore

Don’t mind them just burrowing themselves into the others arms while he’s working. Eivor cannot deny how tired they truly are and just wants to be held by Cyno.             @judicators sc.

Too tired to make this eloquent, but imo the way the town elder (Abedinna? Not sure how it’s spelled) and her ideology is presented in the latest episode feels kind of…off? Like, they have a good point re: their religious freedom and the oppression coming out of Vasselheim, sure, and you want them to have their freedom and have justice for that, but then the solution they’re gunning for is just…a complete reversal of fortunes? To do to the followers of the Prime Deities what was done to them, but more extreme? I’m not saying they *can’t* be presented that way or that no one would ever feel like that in their position, but it still kinda reminds me of like…discussions on irl colonialism and how a prevailing line of thought among an oppressing class is often that if the oppressed are given back their rights/land/etc, they’ll take the first chance they get to oppress in turn. It’s a very eye-for-an eye idea of what “justice” looks like that is often not actually shared by the oppressed group, but it’s the only thing the oppressing group can really imagine when considering a change to the status quo
Don’t get me wrong, I’m very curious to see where the story goes from here and I like the sticky nature of the dilemma it presented to Team Issylra in terms of balancing their goals/allegiances/etc. But one thing that’s been bugging me throughout the campaign is that even amongst the people fighting against Ludinus and his machinations to seize control, the actual topic of that control never really even comes up at all as an argument against him? Everyone’s like “we don’t want him filling the space the gods leave behind if they’re cast down” or “we don’t want him destroying the world in the process of destroying the gods” but I don’t think we’ve EVER heard anyone bring up the point that like…that’s not a choice you make for other people. Even the “good guys” don’t seem to actually take issue with destroying the gods for any reason other than “the material cost/body count would be too high/we’d get something worse in their place”
And that just seems particularly highlighted to me in this recent episode. Ostensibly you’ve got a community of people who don’t worship the prime deities and want to be left alone to follow their own way of life in peace, but then they (Elder Abedinna in particular) immediately turn around and go “hey, maybe utterly destroying the source of millions of people’s faith without giving them a choice in the matter so we can do our thing isn’t a bad idea!” And just…the hypocrisy of that kind of goes unchallenged
Idk it’s just been a thing that’s kinda felt unsatisfying to me so far in c3. We’ve gotten an abundance of characters who are all varying degrees of “fuck the gods” albeit in their own interesting ways (and granted, it’s definitely interesting to me to see the motivations & actions of characters who don’t necessarily have any love for the gods, but still fight against Ludinus anyway), but…it also feels like a lot of the same thing after a while. This could be such a rich conflict of in-world theology and philosophy and I really feel like there’s a lot of potential stuff to chew on regarding the themes of choice versus force, autonomy vs subservience, etc, but it feels like those things are going unaddressed in a lot of ways (or addressed in a very one-note way, like I was feeling with the latest episode).
Coincidentally, one of my hopes for the combat in the next episode is that we will in fact get to see one or more Judicators joining the fray, but not just as bludgeoning tools for the Flame Guide to wield against the party. According to the lore given, they’re supposed to be - more or less - vessels to carry out the will and power of their gods, so if there actually *is* disconnect between the will of the gods and the actions of the mortal institutions that purport to serve them (as Orym mentioned in conversation with the Elder), it would be very interesting to see that set-up followed through on. I’d love to see the Judicators do…*something* unexpected in this fight, whatever that may be, that complicates the battle lines our cast of characters have drawn up. Idk if we’ll get that, though. They might just end up being used as especially big hammers to hit the PCs with. But I kind of hope not, or at least, that that’s not all that happens with them. If it is, that would definitely have interesting implications for the Judicators’ nature, ie: are they *really* vessels of divine will, or are they just vessels for the will of whatever mortals are at the top of the power structure?
Anyway. This is messy and I’m tired. Send post

Assassin had reported a sighting peculiar by the standards of her companions — that of a traverser within the labyrinth exuding strength peculiar of an ordinary mage, yet exhibiting no trace of Servant. With the understanding this were a figment, or perhaps the window into another timeline, Saber had been first to volunteer investigating — while Assassin or Archer might have been more suited given their aptitude in stealth, she possessed the greatest in raw strength, and the only member aware of what was transpiring.
Manaka, Caster, Assassin and Archer — they existed within this memory, dream or fantasy and could never comprehend the notion that an island lie on the other side of a mist they could not perceive. as such, she were best placed to prevent an altercation with this apparent outsider. The additional benefit to her offensive advantage over the others was the assurance she could confront anyone alone and need none eavesdrop onto what might sound bizarre to them.

Her scouting took less than a quarter-hour to locate the suspected party — indeed he did not resemble any typical mage, and though he would blend in with Heroic Spirits, gave off no such signal. "You were summoned here from Spirale, were you not? My allies expressed concerns that you might be an opponent, so I came to ensure no misunderstanding on their part may boil over into conflict".

@judicators // event starter call.
as the mist faded, danny was immediately overwhelmed by the humidity of the swamp that now spread out before him. he'd never managed to figure out where, exactly, this little slice of bayou land had come from, only that it had once been situated somewhere in the united states. it was hell, in his opinion; he'd about melted in florida, but this place had taken it to a new level of disgusting. at least this time he wasn't garbed up in that heat sink of a disguise - a small boon, given that every exhale only served to remind him of how dank and oppressive the air was here.
but, of course, there was someone else who had followed him into the realm; it was difficult not to hear someone else's breathing when everything came out soggy around here. he suspected it was not of their own volition, but rather that they had stumbled upon it and been gifted the opportunity to suffer alongside him.
'i'd say welcome, but this place is...' he turned to face the interloper, but his boots sank into the mud. 'shit!'
as he struggled a moment to regain his footing and, finally, loosen his foot from the thick mud with a squelch, he saw the triangular symbol drawn into a nearby patch of semi-solid ground - and further beyond it, hanging from a wooden pillar staked into the ground, a rusted, bloodied hook. shit, indeed. the air suddenly seemed a lot heavier as he realized they were unlikely to be left alone here for long. what a fucking joke his life had turned into.
'the mud's about to be the least of our problems here.' he nodded his head towards a copse of trees nearby. 'keep an eye out, will you? for anything. though, if you hear growling... we run.'

PERHAPS HE OUGHT TO STOP OVERWORKING himself. high strung? certainly, but it seems as though with every attempt to relax and find a new hobby, comes two opportunities to halt a criminal in their tracks or find a new facet of his education to hone and sharpen. he's wondering if he even has it in him to sit back and watch the world go by WITHOUT him.
he's forced himself to sightsee in cotes, to take in the atmosphere and witness all the magic that the ward has to offer. for as long as he's been here, the young man stands out, prim and PROPER, dressed in a modern uniform opposed to a tunic or a chestplate. the citizens weren't kidding when they talk about how different this ward is COMPARED to the rest of the island. he's people watching over a half eaten plate, giving himself something to look at besides the warped grainy wood of his table.
a verbal scuffle breaks out - how UNSURPRISING! - though it isn't near as violent as the movies would lead one to believe. he can't say he's disappointed, watching words exchange over what he believes to be a card game of some sort. well, there goes my relaxation for today, he thinks as his sense of justice only rises. ❝are you going to ALLOW them to do that?❞ he asks to the pale haired man who seemed to be on the receiving end of the assault.

He certainly was behaving shyly today, almost like he was hesitating, or trying to make a decision - hopefully the question she intended to ask wouldn’t add to whatever unspoken burden he may have been carrying; she gave the hand she held a squeeze to gently draw him out of his thoughts.
“Cyno? I know you can’t exactly take a break from your duties, but I wonder if I might be able to borrow you for a few days - I’m not much for heavily populated events, but…the nation of Mondstadt’s Windblume Festival is drawing near and it’s the one country closest to my own homeland and I fear I would be lying to myself if I pretended like I wasn’t curious about attending…so…is there anyway I could convince you to go with me?”
In all reality, she was more prepared for a no than a yes.

Collei  is  scared  white  by  Cyno  appearing  suddenly  behind  her  when  she  turns  around.  she  even  jolts  back  from  the General Mahamatra  with  a  hand  over  her  chest,  keeping  her  thumping  heart  from  bursting  out.
"  baba!  why  do  you  always  do  that ? !  you  should  say  something !  "
like  seriously!  Collei  nearly  threw  the  basket  of  fruit  she  was  carrying  in  his  face.  it's  trouble  enough  that  he's  collected  and  stoic,  barefooted and quiet like a predator, but  either  way,  she  sighs  with  relief.  at  least  he's  returned.  at  least  he's  home.  she'll  have  to  put out  another  set  of  cutlery  at  the  dinner  table.
"  Master  Tighnari  is  still  out  with  the  other  Forest  Rangers.  I  am  to  start  dinner. "

❝... You came too late.❞              Came their voice, soft and shaky yet filled with rage. Rage from a senseless death that the wolf-kissed felt could have been avoided. If only they had came in time, perhaps their scout would have lived. Hands bloody from holding onto the warrior who passed in their arms, tears blurring their vision from not only sorrow but anger. Eivor was not mad at Cyno - they were mad at the one who has done this. The one who murdered their friend without any mercy. An assassin that lingers in the darkness, and they will find this assassin. They will make sure they receive the full extent of their rage... And show no mercy.             For a moment they stayed that way, mourning over the other before slowly lowering the corpse down to the ground - standing up with a deep sigh that sounded more of a shaky breath holding back more tears than anything. They turn their head to look at the man beside them. Their lover. Their comrade. They know they can share this moment of weakness with him but... They are hesitant. Unsure.                            ❝Let’s go. We... Have to find her killer.❞                   They will not rest until they do.
