Shikiba technically created doppelgängers of all Class 78, but since Kyoka was made first, and had more proper nourishment, the others are smaller, more rat-like and plant-like then her, and can't speak very well/much. Since he was gone, she named them herself, using whichever name appeared in books, or the casts from movies he loved.

We have Takomo (Naegi), Asa (Togami), Kyoka herself, Futaba (Toko), Kureiji (Yasuhiro), Hinami (Aoi), Battler (Leon), Sayoko (Sayaka), Chikage (Chihiro), Momotaro (Mondo), Cassiel (Celeste), Kiriyah (Taka), Hiro (Hifumi), Yukako (Sakura), Kuromi (Mukuro) and Juriko (Junko).

The Danganronpa books are all really good and here's why you should read them.

Danganronpa Zero is a really good origin story that explores junko's character and the a lot of the shady stuff with Hope's Peak along with introducing a lot of things that would become staples of the series like Izuru Kamukura and the reserve course. It's also consistently referenced all throughout the series.

Danganronpa Zero revamped fan translation

Danganronpa Kirigiri is not only a great origin story for Kyoko, it also has plenty of great new characters, interesting mysteries, and amazing themes. The author would even go on to work on Danganronpa v3 and create all the crazy murder methods in that game. In my personal opinion this is probably the best written entry in the entire series.

Danganronpa IF is not only a fun what if story but also a great character study of Mukuro who now finally understands her sister and recontextualizes a lot of things, it's also just really fun in general.

Makoto Naegi Secret File is a short but entertaining story about the events that led Makoto to becoming a student at Hope's Peak. It adds some neat context and some interesting foreshadowing, plus it's just really weird lol.

Not my favorite (least favorite actually) but Danganronpa Togami is an absolutely insane read with one of the most baffling plot twists in the series. Only the most curious of souls should read this.

Ultra Despair Hagakure is just a generally really funny story about Yasuhiro in Towa City where he bumps into a lot of crazy people while trying to get money to pay his debts, it's silly and fun. Don't expect Shakespeare, it's just a fun time.

Danganronpa 1-2 Beautiful Days is a collection of non-canon stories similar to the anthology comics, overall it's just really neat but the story "Nanami the Adventurer" absolutely is a must read for perfectly explaining what makes Danganronpa 2's cast great.

Not technically a novel but Danganronpa Gaiden is a fun thriller with cool characters and interesting world building, it has some issues but it's definitely worth checking out.

Also not technically a novel but Kirigiriso is a really weird but interesting crossover story with Danganronpa and Otogiriso about kyoko discovering a plant infested mansion. If you enjoyed Danganronpa Kirigiri or Kyoko as a character in general, you might get some enjoyment out of this

I just finished playing Danganronpa Trigger Happy Havoc and really enjoyed it. I'm looking for a order to consume the other games and the animes. In your opinion, are they worth watching?

The next thing in the release order is Danganronpa/Zero. Two volume light novel series that gives some lore for Danganronpa 2 and is where the core of Junko's characterization is at. Optional, readable either before or after 2 without major differences, and not for everyone. Can't say if I recommend it to you or not because I don't know you, but I love it a lot.

The 3rd entry in the series is Danganronpa 2. Most popular of the bunch. Must play.

4th is Danganronpa Another Episode: Ultra Despair Girls. Action puzzle shooter spin-off game about bad parenting and its consequences. The one with the biggest "not for everyone" marker, but give at least the first chapter a try. If you're really interested in seeing firsthand what the outside world looks like, this is the game for it.

5th is Danganronpa Gaiden: Killer Killer. Spin-off manga way too wacky even for this franchise's standards. 14 chapters in total, all translated by yours truly, but it was my first work ever so I don't have the courage to go back and check what the translation looks like.

6th is Danganronpa 3. Anime that closes the original storyline in a way that satisfied no one. You're really better off skipping this one.

7th is Danganronpa V3. A third game in the style of DR1 and 2, but not a story sequel. V3 is a reboot in a different universe. The events of the past games didn't happen in this world. V3 has a controversial ending but is well-received for its beginning and middle, so I'm not slapping the "not for everyone" tag here. For whatever it's worth, it's my favorite game ever.

8th is Kirigirisou, a parody of Otogirisou (the first visual novel) starring Kyouko Kirigiri. It's as much of a meme game as it sounds.

And 9th is Danganronpa S. Feel-good beach board game combining the casts of all mainline games.

I found something I didn’t know about 😭😭😭😭😭

WTF IS “OTOGIRISOU”????

I was looking up Kohei (the protagonist of Kirigirisou) because I was going to make a post like “when you ship the faceless obscure protagonist with Kyoko more than the original protagonist of Danganronpa” (yes I do btw even though I barely ship them at all lol) and found out he had a gf…

So then I was like “wait no what” and I started looking into it and it started saying “otogirisou” and I thought nothing of it then took like a triple take because otogiri and kirigiri are completely different.

I have more to research now…

AND I WAS JUST THINKING “What if there’s a secret game even I don’t know about” AND THERE WAS.
