#like yeah theres an usher house that crumbles but it doesnt function well as a symbol of the family #because we dont see the house degrade/crumble in time with the family nor is it even a house they're tied to or inhabit beyond it being #'where it all started' and such #like i know flanagan's 'haunting of hill house' already did 'the house is alive' so i get it but more of that element wouldve really helped #have a house fire that kills one of them and that burned out area symbolizes some of the decay #windows being broken from one of them jumping #maybe run off from the chemicals starting to poison the land and kill the plants around it #if nothing else have all or most of them at least live in or have grown up in the house. #something. #not star trek #tfothou #doctor's log
