Hey there, it’s Christy!
This week will be diving into some of the most influential streetwear brands that shaped the scene. Street style has created a revolution that fuses comfort, fit, and high-end fashion. There is something for everyone whether you want a luxury hype attire from high fashion designers or if you're in the mood for modern street styles. There are many cool street clothing brands to consider.

Founded in 1994 in New York’s SoHo neighborhood, Supreme made its mark becoming the most well-known streetwear brands ever. The brand has an intelligent take when it comes to marketing by launching new limited drops weekly. Over the years, Supreme has been endorsed with well-known celebs such as Travis Scott, Kanye West, and Mike Tyson to name a few. And has collaborated with high end designer brands that has helped etched its name into streetwear history.  New York’s Supreme has become known to be the streetwear originals that has transformed the urban clothing scene.

Stüssy
Stüssy is another influential classic brand that inspired many streetwear designers and brands over the course of decades. The Stüssy brand originated from the Southern California surf scene and skate culture. Shawn Stussy was a surfboard shaper at the time who was able to bring over his own personal style and individualism to the fashion scene which made his brand stand out. Stussy began his small graphic tee brand in the 80’s by having his signature logo screen printed on tees, crewnecks, and hoodies. Soon enough it ended up gaining immense popularity transferring into a wide range of streetwear the brand offers. The brand continues to thrive as Stussy is a driving force in the streetwear couture. As well by giving forward thinking designs while staying true to its California roots.
Here we have a fun pop of color to add for a streetwear look! A perfect casual fit yet stylish. This is from the latest Stüssy Spring '23 Collection.

A Bathing Ape (Bape)
Bape was founded by Nigo also known as Tomoaki Nagao in Japan in 1993 at the beginning of the streetwear movement. According to Nigo the company’s name is a reference to the Japanese idiom “A Bathing Ape in Lukewarm Water” used to portray overindulgent behavior which entirely captures the whole essence of the brand. Over the history of Bape it has remained a continuous trailblazer in the fashion industry. Bape’s strategy of hype and scarcity made their brand into one of the most desired streetwear brands who even got their name into the American hip-hop scene. As for designs Bape is known for their bold graphics, eccentric colors, stylized camouflage patterns, and a subdued touch of the Japanese kawaii culture.
Here we have one of the most popular collection pieces which is the Bape shark hoodie. The hoodie is light and breathable made from high quality cotton that features bright prints.

Off-White
Off-White is one of the main forces behind the fusion of streetwear and high fashion. Off-White is Milian based founded by Virgil Abloh in 2012. The logo he described as “the gray area between black and white as the color “off-white” to the fashion world. The logo has attracted an international fan-base with its signature black and white diagonal stripes printed on each of the brand’s pieces. Virgil’s integration of culture and couture has created a streetwear name known for innovative designs and forward thinking, ironic tags, distinctive prints, and high-profile collaborations. Such as Timberland, Levi, Nike, Converse, and Jordan. RIP Virgil Abloh
Here we have Off-White X Levi's 2016 fall/winter denim collection. This collaboration was a hit that showcased key pieces. Such as the image below of a frayed denim jacket featuring a bold yellow accent.

HUF is another brand that has been influential in the streetwear scene. Huf got started in the early 90’s and originally the nickname of Keith Hufnagel who was a loyal skateboarder in the streets of New York in the 80’s. He merged his passion for skateboarding and streetwear perfectly in a way that made his brand a hotspot for everything skateboards. It is known for its clean aesthetic, provocative designs, limited runs of products, and quality craftsmanship. They're a brand that has the spirit of skateboarding and street culture. Over the years, HUF has been committed to pushing the culture forward and not allowing it to conform to it.

Embracing the Streets: The Evolution and Impact of Streetwear Brands
Streetwear has become a powerful force in fashion, blending elements of urban culture, hip-hop, and individualism into a cohesive style statement. It's more than just clothing; it's a lifestyle, an attitude, and a reflection of contemporary culture. In this blog post, we'll dive deep into the essence of streetwear, exploring its roots, its rise in urban fashion, and spotlighting key pieces like the iconic Blue Cheese T-Shirt.
The Origins of Streetwear: From Subculture to Mainstream
Streetwear's journey began in the 1980s, with roots deeply embedded in the surf and skate culture of California. Brands like Stüssy and Supreme set the stage, combining casual comfort with bold graphics and logos. This new style resonated with a generation seeking authenticity and individuality, breaking away from traditional fashion norms.
As hip-hop culture flourished in the late 80s and 90s, streetwear naturally aligned with the genre's ethos. Artists and fans embraced the relaxed, stylish, and statement-making pieces that streetwear brands offered. This fusion of street culture clothing and music propelled streetwear into the mainstream, transforming it from a niche market into a global phenomenon.
Urban Fashion: The Pulse of the Streets
Urban fashion, a broader category that includes streetwear, captures the dynamic and ever-evolving aesthetic of city life. It's a style that thrives on innovation, diversity, and the blending of different cultural influences. Urban fashion is characterized by its practicality, versatility, and the ability to make bold statements.
Streetwear brands have become the flag-bearers of urban fashion, consistently pushing the envelope with new designs and collaborations. The appeal lies in the ability to merge high fashion with everyday wear, creating pieces that are both stylish and accessible.
Hip Hop T-Shirts: A Canvas for Expression
T-shirts have always been a staple in the streetwear wardrobe, and within this category, Hip Hop T-Shirts hold a special place. These tees often feature graphics, logos, and messages that resonate with the hip-hop community. They are a canvas for self-expression, allowing wearers to showcase their musical preferences, social commentary, or simply their love for the culture.
Iconic designs and collaborations with artists have turned hip-hop T-shirts into collector's items. They are not just garments but pieces of history, capturing moments and movements within the genre.
Authentic Tees: The Heartbeat of Streetwear
In the world of streetwear, authenticity is everything. Authentic tees, those produced by reputable brands and often limited in quantity, are highly sought after. They represent genuine creativity and a connection to the culture that mass-produced items simply can't match.
These tees often feature unique designs, high-quality materials, and a level of craftsmanship that sets them apart. Wearing an authentic tee is a statement of loyalty to the brand and an appreciation for the culture it represents.
Spotlight on the Blue Cheese T-Shirt
One standout piece in the realm of authentic tees is the Blue Cheese T-Shirt. This shirt has gained popularity for its distinct design and the cultural references embedded in its name. "Blue Cheese" is often a slang term used in hip-hop culture, making it a perfect fit for a streetwear brand looking to tap into that audience.
The Blue Cheese T-Shirt embodies the essence of streetwear: bold, unapologetic, and deeply rooted in urban culture. Its unique design and clever nod to hip-hop make it a must-have for any streetwear enthusiast.
Streetwear's Enduring Influence
Streetwear brand have reshaped the fashion landscape, merging style with substance and culture with commerce. From the surf shops of California to the urban jungles of major cities worldwide, streetwear continues to evolve, staying true to its roots while embracing new influences.

Born Katrina Turquotte in Hong Kong on July 16, 1983 Wikipedia: Katrina Kaif, her childhood blended cultures. Her father, of British descent, and her mother, with Indian heritage, instilled in her a global perspective that would later influence her career choices.
Katrina's early life was marked by frequent relocations due to her father's work. She spent time in Hong Kong, China, Hawaii, and eventually moved to Mumbai with her mother at the age of fourteen. Her pairing with actors like Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar, and Ranbir Kapoor further solidified her position as a leading lady and a box-office draw. Blockbusters like "Ek Tha Tiger" (2012) with Salman Khan and "Dhoom 3" (2013) with Aamir Khan cemented her status as a bankable star.
Beyond acting, Katrina is a successful entrepreneur. In 2019, she launched her own cosmetic line, Kay Beauty, showcasing her business acumen and interest in the beauty industry. She is also a vocal advocate for various charitable causes, particularly those related to children's education.
While Katrina maintains a private life, her relationships have often been in the spotlight. In recent years, she has been linked to actor Vicky Kaushal, and in December 2021, they surprised fans with a wedding ceremony.

Despite her success in Bollywood, she is a British citizen.

Katrina is a skilled dancer, trained in various styles including jazz, hip hop, and belly dancing.

Blue Lips- Schoolboy Q
Tumblr media
No matter how old I get, or who I’m talking about, I still can’t help but particularly admire great new records from artists who were once releasing great work but had fallen off somewhat since their last notable work. Beyond the surface level “comeback” narrative, there’s something inspiring and ultimately very human about creative peaks and pitfalls that refreshingly sidesteps the black and white binary conducive to pop culture which champions the notion of a short shelf life and a definitive expiration date. The story is far from set in stone while an artist is still engaged with their craft, and it’s a fool’s errand to outright dismiss the future work of an artist due to a perceived misfire at any point after they released something that you connected with. It’s been 5 years since Schoolboy Q’s dull, cruise-control rendered yawn of a record, CrasH Talk, which unfortunately capped off what was previously nearly a decade of good to great records that helped largely define the sound of west coast hip-hop throughout the 2010s. Q’s recently released LP 6th Blue Lips, which features more than its fair share of his best music to date, is not only among the most satisfying course corrections of the decade so far (up there with Animal Collective’s Time Skiffs and Yo La Tengo’s This Stupid World), but it’s also among the year’s biggest highlights so far. But don’t call BL a comeback; this is a recalibration of the highest order.
Q’s music has always swung wildly from the giddy exuberance of party anthems to bone-chilling street missives with a rich, multifaceted perspective in the eye of the storm as the connective tissue, but BL sidesteps this dichotomy altogether by embracing a rejuvenated, ambitious spirit. BL spans 18 songs in 53 minutes, opening with a sunny sampledelic interlude devoid of bars, and closes with an r&b slow jam; it’s an excessive and occasionally messy affair, but the indulgence is the point, and throughout this dense web of sonics is a rapper in complete control of his craft continuing to push against his limitations. These songs unfold with unpredictable angles and are often propelled by predominantly jazz-heavy samples that work to demolish any lingering perception of Q as a one-dimensional weed-rapper. The single “Yearn 101” is catnip for any MC worth their salt and Q tears it to shreds, rapping in an urgent double time flow like his life depended on it. On the other side of the spectrum are subdued cruisers like “Blueslides” and “Nunu”, which are imbued with great melodies and plenty of negative space to luxuriate in between the blistering verses on either side. And the Freddie Gibbs assisted “oHio” is a prog rap epic that moves through 3 disparate movements with finesse and precision, and not only does it not collapse under the weight of its ambition, but Q coasts through the off-kilter arrangements with the ease of a flawless Super Mario Bros speed run. Not everything on BL works, but the highs are sublime and the misfires are far and few between.
While Q brings his A game to BL, he’s also assisted by a plethora of collaborators that elevate his vision at nearly every turn. “Pop”, the 2nd track (and first actual song) is basically just Q teeing up Rico Nasty for an characteristically visceral verse, while “Foux” reunites Q with Ab-Soul who finds his groove again within the midst of the busy, percussion-heavy instrumental. Childish Major sustain the sinister allure of the prickly, penultimate “Pig Feet”, while Gibbs, a rapper known for consistently excellent features, outdoes himself on the obtuse, aforementioned “oHio” with a gleefully dexterous verse. The beats, courtesy of an all-star team of producers that include the likes of The Alchemist, Beat Butcha, Cardo, DJ Kahlil and many others, range from psychedelic to soulful to funky to nasty with a zealous, crate digging acumen that narrowly avoids exuding an overwhelming sense of disjointed whiplash throughout its eclectic sonic sprawl. BL unfolds closer to a grab bag compilation that showcases how adeptly Q can navigate a plethora of different beats and moods than a tight front to back listening experience, and what he sacrifices in terms of lean cohesion he more than makes up for in satisfying risks that pay off far more often than not. Q has been a great rapper for well over a decade now, but he’s never showcased his ability to rap over anything thrown his way quite like he showcases throughout BL.
Throughout the bulk of BL Q preoccupies himself with surveying how he got to where he is, and contends with the pervasive fear that everything that he’s worked for could dissipate in the blink of an eye. On “Blueslides”, Q succinctly lays out the anxiety at the record’s core right in the first verse “Better climb out that hole before you fuck up your blessings/’Fore you realize that it’s over and start to get desperate/Keep your mind, body on pressure, give your time when it’s needed/Know a man gon’ be a man, if he don’t work, he ain’t eatin’” which is juxtaposed superbly against the song’s lush veneer. On “Cooties” Q’s gaze turns outwards toward societal decay and the concerns of trying to raise a child in our late-stage capitalist hellscape “Mass shootings, when will they stop it? Hmm/’Nother child gone for unlimited profits/Rather keep my kid home before you fuck up the process” over another richly-rendered beat, while “Time killers” and “Pig feet” are chilling calls to arms against snitches and cops that serve as stark reminders of Q’s tumultuous past. BL slowly reveals itself as Q’s most personal and introspective project to date in addition to being his most ambitious, and it’s a testament to his tenacity that he was able to make a record this accomplished this late into his career. BL probably won’t achieve the sort of cultural cachet that Habits and Contradictions did, nor the sort of old head cred that something like Blank Face LP inspires, but through its knotty, unorthodox presentation it reveals itself as Q’s best work yet.
Essentials: “oHio” ft. Freddie Gibbs, “Yeern 101”, “Pig Feet” ft. Childish Major

Pulling The Limit: Introducing the Calisthenics Community of India
I’m going to be honest with you, up until last year I thought Calisthenics was just a bougie term for middle school P.E. class. As embarrassing as it may be to admit, the first image that popped into my head when I thought about Calisthenics was a jungle gym, kids being (annoying) kids and climbing up the domes or testing how long they can hang off of the tallest ladders. I say this as a former (annoying) kid - I even have a moderately gnarly scar on my right knee from falling off of the giant jungle gym at school. So, I guess I would consider myself a bit of a Calisthenics legend.
I only looked into Calisthenics in more detail after I got in touch with Anupama Shivacharya for a Näck Campaign. Anupama is the first certified female Calisthenics coach in India, and while I was reading up on her and her amazing journey I realised how incredibly wrong I had been about Calisthenics.
Sure, you may find some use out of a children’s playground or a jungle gym in your workout, but the world of Calisthenics is so far beyond just earning bragging rights for hanging on to the pole the longest out of your entire 6th grade class. The bragging rights are pretty cool, though.
If you’re like me, and you think back to your school playground or military training when you think of Calisthenics, let me give you a little breakdown. Welcome to Calisthenics 101.
At the foundational level, Calisthenics is resistance training using your own body weight - meaning you use little to no equipment. It uses functional movements to help strengthen your flexibility, agility, balance, and coordination.
According to Tee Major, author of Urban Calisthenics, “the fundamental goal of Calisthenics workouts should be mastering control over lifting and moving your body in space.” And if you’re thinking that’s the goal for a lot of the workouts you already do, you won’t be wrong. Squats, push-ups, lunges, crunches, dips, jumping jacks, broad jumps, handstands — all Calisthenics.
We rounded up some of the leading Calisthenics coaches and practitioners in India to learn a little bit more about the community and their journeys.
Anupama Shivacharya, India’s 1st Certified Female Calisthenics Coach
Anupama was first introduced to Calisthenics in 2018 while attending a parkour workshop. She caught a woman repping 15-20 pull-ups at one go, and she was hooked. She started heading down to her neighbourhood park and began practising with the local Calisthenics athletes. “The vibe was beautiful. We blazed rap and hip-hop songs on the stereo and practised every evening until dark and the park authorities threw us out. One pull-up led to two and then ten and soon I was participating in the National Calisthenics Championship - 2019. I placed Runner Up in the Endurance Athlete category.”
But, as with most other fitness communities, she found the Calisthenics scene to be largely dominated by men. Most women feared that the movements would make them bulk up or look muscular and stayed far away from the Calisthenics parks, leading Anupama to realise that just like her, other women need female role models as well. With this as her driving force, she set out to get certified as a Calisthenics coach and made history by being the first female Calisthenics coach in India! “The reception has been great and many of my female clients are outperforming their male friends, partners and counterparts. ”
A major part of her mission since being certified has been to break the notion that Calisthenics is a hardcore, intense form of fitness. “Even basic movements like plank, bodyweight squats and performing a push up on the kitchen-top or dining table are callisthenics. It can be especially helpful for folks who can't afford a gym, are shy to attend a group session or are afraid to lift free weights.”
In the coming years, Anupama hopes to see more people seek out their local Calisthenics parks, trainers, and communities to take better care of their health. “We already have world-class Calisthenics athletes in India and more will follow but the general public needs Calisthenics more than we know.”
Kirsten Varela, Calisthenics Coach And Founder, Elysium Calisthenics Park
Kirsten started his fitness journey at the age of 19 at a conventional brick and mortar gym, but soon found himself wanting to branch outside. The gym was much too monotonous and boring and Kirsten was seeking something more.
He was first exposed to the crazy world of Calisthenics by watching a YouTube video, and he was intrigued by the moves and tricks the athletes were performing.
“Calisthenics was exactly the opposite (of the gym vibe). I found it exciting, thrilling and enjoyed the encouraging and positive vibes of the Calisthenics community.”
He taught himself Calisthenics by watching tutorials on YouTube. Without proper guidance, it was difficult to grasp the correct techniques but he challenged himself by only working on the basics for the first 6 months. He soon moved to Australia to study and got involved with Calisthenics on a deeper level. But, once he returned he found that there were no specialised studios or parks for Calisthenics in India. Wanting to create a space for people to practise and build a community, he got together with some friends and set up Elysium Calisthenics Park in 2018 - the first official Calisthenics park in India. “In the beginning, it took time to grow. But after a year, there were times when I had over a 100 students per session!”
He has high hopes for the future of Calisthenics, not just in India but all over the world.
“People are missing out big time, if they don't indulge in this beautiful form of fitness!”
Geetika Tandon, Calisthenics Practitioner
Just like a lot of us, Geetika started taking control of her health and fitness on a more intense level after the first lockdown. “I got stronger and was looking for something challenging once things opened up. I had been following a few Calisthenic pages for a while and realised that it was something I wanted to try finally.”
After scrolling through a ton of Calisthenics videos, she decided to look for Calisthenics parks and classes around her, which proved to be a bit of a challenge since there weren’t too many to choose from, and the lot she had to pick from were going to be a quite a journey to get to. Fortunately, she found a couple of parks close to her after a bit of a wait, and she decided to finally give Calisthenics a go. “It’s definitely something you can start practising at home, and that’s the beauty of it. Although I can see why it would seem intimidating without a coach, so i think classes are the best way to start”
During her time practising, she has seen a sizeable growth in the Calisthenics community.
“Just the word Calisthenics was so Greek to everyone a few years ago, but now it's growing and fast! Even people in gyms are inclined towards Calisthenics. From people practising in small places, to moving into large parks, it's the next big thing in fitness.”
Geetika is looking forward to seeing more parks opening up across the country, and more people of all genders, and all ages trying their hand at this beautiful sport.
As someone who is not a fan of traditional gyms, and as a former Calisthenics legend (bragging rights don’t have expiry dates), I do find myself interested in trying out Calisthenics for myself, get reacquainted with the bars and climbing domes from my childhood, and of course feel like an absolute badass.

The Rise of Online Men's Clothing Sites
The digital era has brought about a significant shift in how we explore and purchase fashion. Men's clothing sites have emerged as pivotal platforms, offering a plethora of styles that cater to diverse tastes and sizes. These online destinations are not just about convenience; they represent a curated experience of the latest trends, classic staples, and innovative designs in streetwear. For those seeking mens plus size clothing, the digital space offers inclusivity and variety. Gone are the days when finding fashionable, well-fitting streetwear was a struggle for plus-size men. Today, numerous online stores specialize in mens plus size clothing, ensuring that style and fit go hand-in-hand for every body type.
Decoding Streetwear Style: A Guide to Men's Urban Fashion
Streetwear is more than just clothing; it's a form of self-expression. The quintessential streetwear look combines comfort with edginess, often featuring oversized silhouettes, bold prints, and a mix of high and low brands. Here are key elements to master the streetwear style: 1. Oversized and Layered Pieces: Streetwear thrives on a relaxed, oversized fit. Think baggy jeans, loose t-shirts, and hoodies. Layering is also a staple, with combinations like a graphic tee under a denim jacket or a hoodie beneath a bomber jacket. 2. Bold Graphics and Statement Prints: Streetwear is not shy about making a statement. Graphic tees, often with bold logos or artwork, are a staple. Statement prints, whether they're abstract, geometric, or representative, add a distinctive edge to any outfit. 3. Sneakers: The Heartbeat of Streetwear: Sneakers are the cornerstone of streetwear. From classic designs to limited edition collaborations, the right pair of sneakers can elevate your entire look. 4. Accessories: The Finishing Touches: Accessories like caps, beanies, and statement jewelry play a significant role in streetwear. They are not just functional but also add layers of personality to your outfit. Mens Plus Size Clothing in Streetwear: Breaking Stereotypes The inclusion of mens plus size clothing in streetwear marks a significant step towards diversity and inclusivity in fashion. Plus-size men now have access to a wide range of styles that cater to their body type, challenging the stereotypes and limitations often associated with size. Brands and designers are increasingly recognizing the importance of catering to all body types, ensuring that the streetwear scene is as diverse as its community.
Finding Your Style: Tips for Shopping on Men’s Clothing Sites  Shopping for streetwear online can be overwhelming, given the sheer variety of options. Here are some tips to navigate men’s clothing sites effectively: 1. Know Your Measurements: Understanding your body measurements is crucial, especially when shopping for mens plus size clothing. This ensures you select pieces that fit well and flatter your body type. 2. Read Reviews and Check Size Guides: Customer reviews can provide valuable insights into the fit, quality, and overall satisfaction of a product. Size guides are also essential to ensure you're picking the right size. 3. Explore Emerging Brands: While popular brands are always a safe bet, exploring emerging labels can uncover unique and innovative designs that set your style apart. 4. Look for Versatility: Invest in pieces that can be styled in multiple ways and worn across different seasons. This not only gives you more value for your money but also allows for creative expression through your outfits. Conclusion The world of men's streetwear is a vibrant tapestry of styles, cultures, and expressions. With the growth of men’s clothing sites and the expanding range of mens plus size clothing, the realm of streetwear is more accessible and inclusive than ever. Whether you're a seasoned streetwear enthusiast or new to the scene, there's never been a better time to dive into the rich and diverse world of urban fashion.
