Louise Glaum as Poppy in a publicity still for The Return of Draw Egan (1916) with William S Hart. Louise was born in Baltimore and had 129 acting credits from 13 shorts in 1912, to 1925. Her other notable credits include 34 shorts with Augustus Carney as Universal Ike all in 1914, The Three Musketeers (1916), The Leopard Woman (1920) and Sex (1920). She also starred with William in The Disciple and Hells Hinges, and was the uncredited producer of her starring role as The Goddess of Lost Lake (1916).

While not techniqually the same thing I've been researching early queer cinema and here are two early depictions of female drag. Its really interesting to see how a different generation codified things like masculine and feminine dress and how there perception of butchness is different from ours today.
