NOTE: lowkey wrote this probably coz i needed an excuse to write about him and kenma's great friendship
GENRE: fluff drabble, platonic stuff
WARNINGS: none
kuroo had been so used to picking up and walking with kenma to school that he almost forgot that his best friend was, unfortunately, still a third year in nekoma.
the old feeling of being alone settled cold in his bones as he secretly hid his anxiety while walking through the hallways of his university.
he reached his class and sat in one of the chairs at the back. he tried to keep himself busy through snapping a pic to kenma, telling him to go to school and flipping his textbook to do advanced reading. he slowly lost track of his surroundings as he continued to scribble tiny notes on the margins of the book.
you watched him. his hazel eyes flicked at the book and his phone, as if he was waiting for a text. you nervously & silently sat beside him, taking out your reading materials.
"why do you look so anxious?" he looked towards you and he looked down sheepishly. "let's just say i'm not used to this." you tilted your head with a smile of relief. "that makes the two of us!" he looked at you with a raised brow, a smirk playing on his lips. "you don't seem anxious to me."
"i play it off by being talkative."
"oh i see. what's your name?"
"l/n y/n. how about you?"
"kuroo tetsuro." you froze, something he took note of. "what's wrong?" you shook your head. "i just didn't expect you to be here. i didn't even recognize you. i watched your games with my school. you all did great." you nervously smiled, trying desperately to hide your blush.
now he was intrigued. he squinted his eyes at you.
"from what school were you?"
"fukurodani."
he grimaced. "im guessing you know bokuto then?" now your face was a mirror of his. "he was my.. study buddy for science." your face was probably that miserable since his eyes widened and he started cackling.
"well, y/n. pleased to meet you."
when silence lapsed between you two and the class started, you looked at him from the corner of your eye. his phone lit up, receiving a thank you text from kenma and another from yaku who scolded him for not waking him up. he had a tiny mischievous smile on his face as he secretly read them under his desk, the look making you adore him even more.
he met your eyes as he looked up and slipped a small smile to you. you returned it to him, catching him off-guard and making him blush. you softly chuckled before turning back to the board.
the class progressed and when the whole thing was over, you took in a deep breath, composing yourself before turning to kuroo.
"kuroo, can i get your number?" he considered it for a moment before nodding.
"as long as you don't prank me."
"i wont. meet at lunch?"
he gives you his number and stands up. "alright. see you later! i still have a class to catch."
he winked at you before running towards his class, leaving your heart racing in its wake.
