Peoria Rocket
I was fortunate enough to be able to photograph both Rock Islands Rockets back in the day. This one was the first of the two, the Peoria Rocket, perhaps, and it happens to be powered by the distinctive bicentennial unit of the time: number 652.
The train is seen traveling eastbound (inbound) and photographed from Marley Road in New Lenox, Illinois. Photographs by Richard Koenig; taken September 5th 1976.

Marley Road
This is a westbound Rock Island Rocket (which one, I know not) at Marley Road just east of New Lenox, Illinois. One image by Richard Koenig; from a medium format negative, taken in 1976 or so.

Marley Road
This is where Marley Road flies over the Rock Island, just a bit east of New Lenox, Illinois. Time is running out for this road, a few years at the most; it is a real favorite for rail enthusiasts. The train is a westbound with a couple of General Electric U-boats in charge.
