Mary: Louis, he isn’t very stuck up. I’ll put him in his place and I am sure he’ll grow.

Mary: No Louis, doing this again will only hurt the both of us. You shouldn’t even be here, you could be seen. Shakir is inside.

Louis: I don’t care who sees us. 

Mary: Louis, we are both in line for two different thrones. Two crown royals cannot be wed.

Louis: I.. I am thinking of abdicating. 

Mary: Louis you can’t! This... this will bring shame to your family. Louis, they could disown you. I can’t let you give up everything for me.

Louis: Mary, I love you. I wouldn’t be giving up everything by abdicating because you are everything. Mary I would do anything to be with you. 

Mary: You love me?

Louis: Of course, I have since I first laid my eyes on you. And when I marry you, I would be king consort. Not king but good enough.

Mary: Oh, don’t flatter yourself.

Mary: I was telling her things I hope to do when I become queen. For example I hope to discuss letting women born before men in the other kingdoms be ahead of their brothers in the line of succession, like our kingdom.

Shakir: Well that’s ridiculous. When we wed and I become king I’ll never let that happen. You’ll be my queen, I’ll be in charge. Men should lead not women.

Mary: That’s absolutely preposterous. I have worked so hard with my father to bring our kingdom out of misogynist ideas, to become a more modern kingdom. The only reason you will become king is because of that law! I.. I need some air.
