1. Which book has been on your shelves the longest? probably the Red Tent by Anita Diamant

2. What is your current read, your last read and the book you’ll read next?Current read: The Borgias by G.J. Meyer and Dracula by Bram Stoker Last read: The Woodvilles by Susan Higginbotham Next Read: I want to say it will not be Borgia-related but who am I kidding? lol

3. Which book does everyone like and you hated? hmm off the top of my head it’s definitely On the Road by Jack Kerouac. I’m not sure if it’s actually a book everyone likes? but it certainly has a buzz around it, like it’s a MUST read and that’s such bs. it’s bad and I will repeat: that is not writing.

4. Which book do you keep telling yourself you’ll read, but you probably won’t? I hope I’m wrong but War and Peace by Tolstoy and The History of the Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire by Edward Gibbon

5. Which book are you saving for “retirement?” I never thought about this tbh so idk.

6. Last page: read it first or wait till the end? for me, it depends on the book. some books it’s a good thing to read the last page, others not so much.

7. Acknowledgements: waste of ink and paper or interesting aside? I think it’s interesting.

8. Which book character would you switch places with? I have no idea. I don’t think I would like to switch places with any characters with the books I read. maybe Donata/Violante in The Sins of the House of Borgia by Sarah Bower (for obvious reasons lol)

9. Do you have a book that reminds you of something specific in your life (a person, a place, a time)? specific?...All the Names by José Saramago reminds me of an ex-friend of mine and the wonderful times I had in Rio, her mother was also a huge Saramago’s fan and she gave this book to me on my birthday.

10. Name a book you acquired in some interesting way. I pretty much get all my books online so yeah I don’t have interesting stories about that.

11. Have you ever given away a book for a special reason to a special person? nope.

12. Which book has been with you to the most places? wow, honestly? I don’t carry books with me anymore but when I was in high school, I carried Kurt Cobain’s journals with me and read them at P.E/gym?? classes lol.

13. Any “required reading” you hated in high school that wasn’t so bad ten years later? so there this book called Iracema by José de Alencar that was an absolute nightmare to read when I was in school. I hated this book so much bc the writing was incompressible portuguese. and let me tell you that “normal portuguese” is already hard af. so me and my classmates were always talking to each other trying to decipher what the hell was this phrase and that phrase about and what was going on?! last year I skimmed through it and it’s still...hard, but I don’t quite hate it as I did. the story is certaintly significant and part of our culture/history.

14. What is the strangest item you’ve ever found in a book? that never happened to me.

15. Used or brand new? if I can choose, then brand new, bc I have allergic rhinitis :((((

16. Stephen King: Literary genius or opiate of the masses? I never read his books, when I do, if I do, I’ll come back to this one.

17. Have you ever seen a movie you liked better than the book? yes, Revolutionary Road by Richard Yates. I actually think the movie adaptation by Sam Mendes is a lot better. I mean, it is pretty similar to the book, but I like how Mendes gave more room to April’s character, which to me, it’s the most interesting character in the book, but she only shows ups when Frank is around since the book is basically on his POV. and it’s so frustrating bc I want to know so much more about April and we never do. in the movie, Mendes fills in those gaps about her and it felt a lot more balanced too. and not just about Frank.

18. Conversely, which book should NEVER have been introduced to celluloid? oh, definitely A Song of Ice and Fire by GRRM in the trashy hands of D&D.

19. Have you ever read a book that’s made you hungry, cookbooks being excluded from this question? no, not that I remember.
