i was very surprised at how difficult it was to find (good) resources for learners that accurately describe how 部首 (in English we translate this to be the "radical") work in 漢字 (kanji). i pulled these from a very comprehensive guide of kanji from おじゃちゃん, a native speaker who is also a language teacher and if youre interested in learning more, you should check out her full overview here.

to a beginner this might not be as useful - but when you get deep enough into japanese i think it's worth it to understand how kanji is actually used by native speakers. understanding how the radical works can also help you guess at meanings and recognize common patterns that may make memorizing kanji easier

Yes obviously if you replace a word in a sentence with another word it will change the sentence, but by how much depends on how different the two words are!!!

I shouldn't have to explain that "I hate transgender people" and "I hate transabled people" are as similar a comparison as something like "I hate black people" and "I hate hispanic people" are, and that "I hate basketball" isn't even remotely close to either of those comparisons.

If you say this, you are being purposely obtuse because you don't even want to try and engage with the argument being presented! So just say that instead of trying to be witty, you actually just come across as lazy and ignorant!

why do you like the DCA specifically

oh man, it’s really interesting because I can recall the exact moment I started loving them.

When sb came out I watched markiplier play it and I didnt think much of the dca right away. I thought they were a cool character with interesting mechanics and I thought that the daycare was a good part of the game, but that was it. And I remember so specifically watching this tiktok and instantly thinking “oh no, I’m gonna be obsessed with this fucker aren’t I?”

I think like a lot of people, I saw that they work with kids and found that comforting. And I really enjoyed all the different ways people characterize them too. I feel like everyone writes/portrays the dca a little differently and it’s cool seeing all these different perspectives. And on top of all that, they checked all the boxes for me: a robot, a clown, a good boy to take care of me, a bad boy I can fix, and a sun and moon theme??? What’s not to love?

just learned that the way we (in the US at least) typically learn japanese conjugation is almost completely different from how it actually works

I don't think I know enough yet to explain it fully but basically for example た (like when we say 行った or 食べた) and ます (like when we say 行きます or 食べます) can be conjugated themselves bc they're actually 助動詞

so that's how we end up with words like いらっしゃいませ bc the 〜ませ is a conjugation of ます

and also when we say 食べたら there's actually two conjugated pieces here which is the 動詞 (食べ, a conjugation of 食べる) and 助動詞 (たら, a conjugation of た)

raaagh ok so, i want to say that i use my survivor design as my sona now [just as anthro instead of slugcat/feral], the clothes i default to for them is pansear's easter egg design for surv [except for mine i gave them cargo pants], it would be cool to see what other outfits others can come up with though. saying this in case anyone will be drawing something they want to include me in. the old design was a quick temporary design so i could make art for my birthday, but i dont associate with them anymore and dont feel comfortable with it.

on my name, and this goes for my account name as well, i would rather not be called weeblr, as most of the time i dont associate with the username, its not me. im trying to come up with something new to put for my usernames, and im trying to find a name i like that can be used all the time, i was thinking mocha, but right now that doesnt feel right. i might just put the name and pronouns im using in my tumblr bio and discord bio, if i think i need to. that is, if people would be referring to me often or talking to me. my name and pronouns change a lot, and im trying to figure it out, bear with me.
