Temple of Tibidabo. Barcelona must rank right up there as one of the most popular tourist cities to visit. From its rich history to its marvelous architecture and fascinating culture, there is something for everyone. To get a sense of how much this city has to offer in terms of sights, there is one spot that you must visit for the best views. Standing close to 1,800 feet above sea level on Mount Tibidabo, Temple Expiatori del Sagrat Cor, commonly known as ‘Temple of Tibidabo’, or ‘Temple of the Sacred Heart of Jesus’, offers visitors exceptional views of Barcelona and the surrounding countryside. However, this Roman Catholic church would not have seen the light of day, had it not been for the perseverance of a few ‘Catholic Knights’ who managed to buy the land. The original plan was to build a Protestant church, a hotel, or a casino. Unlike the more famous church in the same city that is still a work in progress, more than a century later, this one, thankfully, saw the light of day quite early. The Spanish architect Enric Sagnier started construction of the church in 1902 and was completed by his son Josep Maria Sagnier I Vidal in 1961. Lazy Sunday. Am in one of those moods this lazy Sunday. And the only song I can hum along to, and one that encapsulates my thoughts is The Lazy Song by Bruno Mars. So, on that happy note, and with a few chilled beers, I think I shall do nothing at all.
